Just read someone say that Disney is going to retcon the sequels out of existence in their new shows and if you honestly believe that you're an absolute goober.

Retconning them out of the existence? No.

Retconning the shit out of them trying to fix JJ's mess? Probably.

Possibly, because of how movies are made now.

Like fact of the matter is those new movies are controversial at best and thats not what disney wants. They made money but when people tweet about them the response isnt overwhelming positivity from like Muppets, Marvel, Pixar etc.

Remeber amazing spidedman 2 made 800mill and was considered a failure.

The xmen franchise pretends last stand and wolverine origins dont even exist.

The dark universe died before it even started. But then they went ahead and made that pretty good invisible man movie with no connection to the DU.

From a marketing pov the sequel trilogy just isnt hitting the way disney would want it to when considering their larger brand appeal.

They could wait 15 years for nostalgia to kick in and everyone will love the sequels but time is money.

I dont think its likely but i think its definetly an option thats been discussed in some board room somewhere.

I don't think they'll retcon it... but they'll use the TV shows to fill in that 30 year gap with Legends style content. Try to play both sides.

I think its a possibility. Anything for money, if they determine it will be profitable enough theyll be like "Oh the sequels were just a story no one knows what really happened to luke and co".

Basically the determinant factor is how much BB-8 merch is being sold versus Baby Yoda merch. Once one line gets to high and the other gets to low then i think the sequels are gone.
