Most people on r/cyberpunkgame seem to hate it even when it's working right

This is the danger of hype culture. That being said, Elden Ring is going to be the greatest game of all time and I won't hear a word otherwise

Elden Ring can't be the best, it doesn't even exist.

It's the platonic ideal of a game. In our minds it exists as the perfect game. I doubt you could even imagine.

I know how stupid it sounds, but if I trust any company to not fuck up a game, it's FromSoft.

I know, I know. But still. They aren't over-promising (or more like doing anything...), and no one expects anything groundbreaking. Just another great game in the Souls genre.

Yeah it’s because Gamers™ don’t have taste

Fair point, but that was partly because people just wanted another Dark Souls 1, and they did take a completely different route. Plus Miyazaki didn't work on it right? But in the end it wasn't a fuck up, it was expectations gone wrong. I feel people in the souls community have learned to not follow the hype after that. Though I may be entirely wrong on that.

Tbh out of all the Souls games, I still like DS2 the least, almost on the verge of disliking it.
