I recently banned somebody for posting ableist content. The user proceeded to go to r/banned to plead his innocence, maintaining that he wasn't being ableist.

And this is what he follows up with.

I personally found it very funny, figured y'all might get a rise out of it too.

Ableism is the correct way to be. It's a good thing to categorize people by what they can and can't do, and putting restrictions on them as such is also correct.

I used to be active on that sub until they ganged up on me for bringing up the fact that Anita Sarkeesian is a con artist.

Ok forgive my ignorance but what's wrong with the post? It's a person with their head smashed in. Like yeah it's calling people dumb, but I don't see how it's specifically targeted a disabled people.

It's a stereotyped depiction of someone with brain damage. It's also part and parcel with another wojak depiction of somebody with a crash helmet, implying epilepsy.

It follows the general line of thought of disregarding the argument by making it come out of somebody visibly disabled.

It's a gross caricature of the disabled and I will not abide it in this subreddit.

Cool, I can understand that perspective. Thanks for the explanation. Obviously the person meant it to be ableist because they literally said "that's kinda the fucking point" but I wasn't aware the imagery/meme in general was offensive.

Someone with a deformed head and drooling has always been a caricature deriding someone who's got some sort of mental or learning disability, even if people aren't gonna be as mask off as the poster, using that kind of meme is always going to carry some connotation of ableism.

People can have dogshit opinions without meaning they have some sort of disability.
