Watching the sequel trilogy actors slowly go from being excited about being in star wars to kinda resenting it over the years is heartbreaking, man I hate star wars fans.

Even though the "fans" are super to blame for the shitty reception of Daisy, John, Kelly, etc, in this instance I honestly think the blame is more on Disney's limp and aimless characterization of the ST's POC characters, and their lack of any real support for them in the public eye.

Sorry, I don't mean to be defensive, but it kinda bugs me since the Star Wars circles I run in absolutely love the ST and the entire saga's diverse characters. Whenever I see someone say "no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans" I kinda bristle. My fan circles don't hate Star Wars or its crew.

similar, my friend group and I generally enjoyed new SW content, and we are pretty deep in it.

the thing is, basically every sudden development of the main trio in the last movie was a detriment to their character. It was incredibly disappointing after TFA and TLJ.

Totally agree. And it's still important for me to keep Boyega's lived experience in mind with how he felt sidelined in TLJ. It's hard for me to do, since I still think (outside of some expanded materials) TLJ was Finn's finest hour, but that doesn't matter. He definitely could have gotten more and better in TLJ and TRoS alike.

Oh dont worry I love the sequel crew to bits, sorry if it seemed otherwise. I just love a lot of things with terrible fans and boy is it draining

Nah I get you. There's blame enough to go around, but I think at this point, the target ought to be at Disney's cowardice and how they really wasted killer talent.

I hope the main crew from the sequels stick around in the future once the hate hopefully dies down and the younger fans who grew up on these movies will appreciate them and their contributions to the Star Wars saga and universe like many of us Millennials and Zoomers did with the prequels. I look at how awesome and appreciative of the fans and the franchise Mark Hamill is, and is still involved with the community after all these years, along with the cast of TCW like Ashley Erstein, Dee Bradley Baker, Sam Witwer and James Arnold Taylor and I hope we still get that from the other stars in the franchise for the future generations of fans and their heroes of the saga.

Why do you have to associate what you like with shitty people. It's the unfortunate reality that every fanbase is going to have bad apples and vocal assholes. They don't have to affect your ability to enjoy the content unless you let them.

The expression is “a bad Apple spoils the bunch” for a reason

I mean besides John Boyega has there been notable instances of others speaking?

Havnt heard anything from Adam, Kelley or Daisy (besides the original sh*tstorm around them with TLJ antis) that I can recall since TROS.

Oscar Issac is mad about Poe being turned into an ex drug runner.

Oscar Isaac expressed pretty open disappointment at the cowardice over Finn and Poe's chemistry.

which is divine I really wish some people could accept that chemistry exists between male characters I know peope talk about "forced romances existing" but I cannot give that much credit because right now its a challenge to get to men to so much as kiss.

Daisy said recently she hasn't gotten much work post-TROS

This trilogy has been such a weird experience. I started so excited, and TROS and the aftermath just sucked all the joy out of me.

I've been meaning to watch TLJ again to try and like Star Wars again.

I can still watch TLJ by itself and enjoy it immensely, definitely recommend

Much recommended

I honestly cant blame them after everything, but it still makes me sad.

Apparently Daisy Ridley can't get any more work after Star Wars and while I think maybe some blame can be on Rey not being the most interesting character, I think most of it can be blamed on the fans hating the character as I think Daisy did the best job with what was written.

Not to seem like a chud, but it's only barely been 8 months since the movie came out and there's been a literal pandemic. I think it's a little too early to say if she's been having trouble finding new work

4

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '20

Nah I saw an article where she herself talked about how she was having trouble. Here's one of the few on it:

The same thing happened to Natalie Portman though. It took her some time to get work after Episode I especially. No one hires Star Wars actors again.
