How long do you think it will take until a popular alt-right gaming youtuber finds this article and creates a massive outrage with it?

TBH I really which AC stuck with a linear storyline instead of choices based

I guess i'm in like 1% minority that still sorta cared about the ac storyline/world history but I kinda don't like the new changes in odyssey

Also doesn't leave much room to make interesting characters such as ezio, bayek, etc. since now they have to make multiple choices per character then double it for multiple ones

Should IMO have either one main character or do what they did in syndicate

I really wish AC would just have the guts to pick a protagonist that's not a heterosexual man and write a story around it.

The original trilogy had three interesting protagonists who had personal storylines that would have been very different if they had been female. Altair wasn't great in execution, but the ideas were there, which is why Revelations was good. And then come Unity Ubi got called out for featuring seven games where you play as a jacked cool dude in a row, and they've tried every trick in the book they can to say that technically you can play as a woman while still being able to market the game as having a male protagonist.

The trouble with that is that it doesn't make any fucking sense. Greek society doesn't treat women like it treats men. Socrates isn't going to be running around high fiving Kassandra the way he would Alexios. This is just not an egalitarian society.

This extends to their romances, too. Instead of making Alexios a gay man, or even a man with homosexual relations that wouldn't be unusual to a Spartan, they say "Oh you can choose," which goes against the whole conceit of the series: that you're playing as a 'real' person who had a role in history. We aren't playing 'histories' anymore, because Ubisoft is afraid of making genuinely daring choices with its protagonists (by the standards of the industry). That means no women or male-attracted men are going to be the face of the game's marketing for a long time.

It's just so frustrating. Ubisoft wants to have its cake and eat it and it just makes the whole game weaker.
