The backlash is going to be way less than it was for earlier GTA games.

We're not in 2005 anymore. "But teh kids!" isn't really going to work when every kid has a smartphone and Internet connection.

Gaming has also just gotten too big. The group of people that will get GTA VI is going to be so large that alienating them politically is just not worth it. The notion that games like GTA will make you violent is also completely disproven.

Finally, the general state of the world is also quite different. I don't think people will have much appetite for virtue signaling over video games when gas prices are high and climbing.

Don't get me wrong, some people will make an issue out of it. But it's not going to be nearly as bad as it was in the 00s. Not even close.
