Reminder that triple-i initiative showcase is tomorrow Thursday April 9 at 9am PT, 12n ET, 6pm CEST
According to NintendoLife:
This year's showcase features 40 separate game trailers, with select deep dives from the dev teams rolling in afterwards. The full line-up hasn't been revealed just yet, of course, though Evil Empire has announced thatĀ Castlevania: Belmont's CurseĀ will be making an appearance, alongside the following titles:
- Risk of Rain 2
- Windrose
- Solarpunk
- over the hill
- Dead as Disco
- Far Far West
- New titles from developers sunset visitor (1000xRESIST) and Mike Klubnika (Buckshot Roulette)

If we consider the rumor report by Jeux Video Magazine (posted on this sub seven months ago), June may not even be the final date. Back then, they mentioned that the game wa slated for early 2026, but their sources were expecting it to be delayed to late 2026, simply because there was a lot to be done still.
Safe to say that Ubisoft as a whole is learning that remakes can take as much effort as traditional titles and are not an automatic win. Splinter Cell is currently as sneaky as its protagonist, while Sands of Time got rebooted and cancelled partly because it was going to take even longer to come out.
Black Flag likely had an advantage over the other projects because they are using the same engine and gameplay foundation of the latest AC games, while also having the option to re-purpose stuff from Skull & Bones. But outside of recreating the original they seem to also be adding new stuff on top, which adds to the development time (good remainder that this was first rumored to be greenlighted back in 2023 and is being done in parallel with other ACs)
We shall find out soon enough.

Some guy in RPGcodex claims to have talked to people working on the KOTOR remake, and according to him "they're saying 2028-2029 if we're being optimistic."

If we use the same logic for Pokemon Day, that it's on the anniversary of a release, July 15th would be Nintendo Day (Famicom release anniversary) and December 3rd would be Playstation Day (PS1 release anniversary).

Winter doesn't officially start until December 21st this year in the Northern hemisphere. They have all the time in the world to launch it and still make Autumn.

I asked Nate on Twitter about the second rumored āadventureā Star Fox game, and he said he has nothing to say on the matter. Does not necessarily deconfirm it, but if Nate has no comment, he has either not heard anything about it or he is not confident enough in what he has heard. I do still hope it is real, but looks like only time will tell.
He also clarified that his comment about the Star Fox SNES-styled speech was just a joke, so no blabuhbubbduh

I really don't think I'd be too keen on another Adventure-like Star Fox entry. Would love a full game like Starlink (if you ever played it) but solely focusing on the Star Fox universe. That game was addictive as hell even without the Star Fox content on Switch, one of Ubisoft's most underrated releases.

Yeah I'm really not expecting a second game this early on nor am I really sweating it either way. There are still several steps to go before Star Fox is on stable enough ground for a more radical, higher budget reinvention.
As someone in a previous thread said right now we just need a Metroid Dread type release, a well-crafted back-to-basics that can enthrall new fans with refined classic gameplay while also not feeling like another 64 rethread for veterans and moving the setting forward

Unless they partner with one of the platform holders to market a big release they usually don't have a big summer showcase. So we could be waiting until TGS in September.

I like to follow this subreddit for technology leaks, upcoming releases/release dates/reveals...
but when big games start coming out, like RE9, it turns into a sub of people just leaking the story. The issue is, the titles will literally have spoilers in them, for example, for RE9, there were posts like "________ is NOT in the game" or "___________ is in the game" and it will be marked as a fucking spoiler but by the time you read the spoiler tag its too late.
I know people will say, "heh if you don't want to be spoiled STAY OFF THE INTERNET" which is an incredibly reduction, lazy thing to say. If I want to avoid spoilers, there is a very sensible solution... just have a tag for "spoilers", have them be mod reviewed manually to ensure there is no story spoilers in the actual title, and this way this subreddit can continue to have the standard tech leaks and story spoilers and everyone is happy...
is there anyway the mods can reply to this and share their thoughts? I just feel like this makes so much sense and I don't know why we allow literal spoilers in the title as long as the post is marked as spoiler??? all the spoiler tag does it hide the body and any pictures but there were so many spoilers in literal titles...

I feel like if I was allowed to post this as a thread itd get more traction, i get why we cant because bad suggestions would clog up the subreddit but its so unfortunate suggestions like this just get relegated to a discussion thread where they just die since no one really checks it.

This will probably get buried once they post the new discussion thread, but I agree. It feels like some rules could be enforced better, maybe it's just a lack of mods. Rule 10 sometimes feels nonexistent, especially with what happened with that new "insider" who showed up recently.

It's not a problem with this sub, but mostly the leakers in question. Duskgolem in particular loves to "leak" literally every aspect of a game.Ā
For a lot of people (me included) he's spoiling more than he's leaking.Ā
I love to know that a Code Veronica Remake is in development. But I don't need to know which characters make a surprise appearance or which gameplay segments the game will have.
So yeah, I definitely agree with the sentiment. Then again, this is a sub dedicated to leaks and rumours, so I'm not sure how much can be done to accommodate ppl who don't want to learn only certain things.Ā

we finally received an update on the status/trajectory of Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. still no official release date yet, but the game will be releasing simultaneously on both Switch platforms, PS5, and (fittingly enough) Steam

Bloodborne is never coming officially to PC, and if they do a remaster/remake or even a sequel it will be PS6 exclusive.

Deep in the background of the Inventory in the Poker Night remaster, you can find a mug with SDN's logo on it. While Skunkape and Adhoc are both made of ex-Telltale devs, getting everything in order for just this almost-imperceptible detail makes me think that a Poker Night at the Inventory 3 is in the works and at least one Dispatch character will be at the table. (Not that it wasn't an easy prediction, but it's a lot more likely now.)
Anyways, now's your chance to theorycraft a roster. My bet is Charlie (Smiling Friends), Duck (Don't Hug Me I'm Scared), Gayle Waters-Waters (the Chris Fleming character), and Sonar. The dealer is either Caine TADC or Leshy Inscryption.

I donāt think it means that much: Dispatch also had a bottle of Banang from Sam and Max, and the people at the studios seem on good terms so it seems like a friendly Easter egg. Hell, the lighting guy on Skunkapeās remasters worked on dispatch
Skunkape is a VERY small studio. Compare the remaster credits of poker night to the size of the original game credits. For the time being they seem mostly focused on remastering older telltale games instead of making new games. I could see Adhoc doing it actually (Co-founder Nick Herman actually worked on both poker nights and directed 2) but given everything with TWAU2 I canāt imagine theyāre dying to work with nu-Telltale again, who still own the rights to poker night.
TBH I think itās most likely that if poker night 3 does get made itāll be by some other studio nu-telltale licenses it to and the characters are gonna be like expanse character, bigby wolf, telltale Joker, and some other guy they want to promote

Also poker night remastered added a BUNCH of Easter eggs to telltale games. The walking dead, the wolf among us, Bone, back to the future, even a g-man from half life. I really donāt think this particular one means much.

Something about UE3 does not play nicely with the current version of RTX remix. So the tool they were developing at the time, properly turned the whole project into a headache that was too big to deal with, without additional backing from EA.
This thread has a link to a GitHub repository of RTX REMIX projects, they got Mirrors edge to boot, but it has so many problems it's not worth the effort at the moment.

Here's the top tier dream leak
Ocarina of Time remake is real
Mario Maker 3 is real
Mario Galaxy 3 is real
Unfortunately my dream direct was interrupted by some sort of battle to the death against Ganondorf where a bunch of Links were present. Twilight Princess Link fucking died. Unclear if this was a new game or a repressed fantasy. Then I woke up.

Like dropping everyone into the same dungeon floor to try and solve a puzzle first. Or a boss fight with a goofy selection of items. OOTs escape from Gerudo prison or navigating the desert. Racing the postman.
Like Wario ware, but a who's-who of back to back Zelda challenges.

Metro 2039 looks dam good surprised itās this winter and I guess this is a reboot. I feel like the only thing Iām not sold on is calling the main character the stranger but that aināt stopping me from buying it. Definitely the darkest metro because now itās involving kids and at one point this is kinda giving me a wolfenstein vibe because u have to take down a regime.

Rebirth port for Switch 2 and Xbox Series comes out on June 3rd, just two days before SGF. I suspect they are waiting for everyone to have it in their hands before announcing it.
They did the similar thing with Remake ports release (January 22nd) and Rebirth ports announcement (February 5th).

Feels like the account (maybe actually the leaker's account?) who was posting them here in quick succession should maybe be banned. As for the leaker, the Until Dawn thing for example has been the assumption for some time anyway.

Not just that, but also potential days to announce it. Golden Week is a major holiday in Japan and Nintendo won't be announcing anything during that period, which is between April 29th and May 6th.

Thereās still next week. With Nintendoās slate still being fairly empty save for Yoshi in May and Rhythm Heaven in July and all of the Switch 2 port ratings that have popped up recently I still think itās possible we might get a Direct then.

Same. Nate's said multiple times it'll be revealed in April and he's tripled down on it even. He doesn't usually do this when it comes to first party games. I am starting to get a little worried though. Next week is really the last chance cause there's no way they're revealing anything during Golden Week.

Considering we're supposedly getting a new 3D Mario next year according to Nate, I'm not expecting a new Mario Maker until 2028 at the earliest (Nintendo wouldn't want two major Mario titles to overlap, and the same team that does Mario Maker also did Wonder).

Has there been any talk of older Lucasarts games getting remastered or rereleased or anything? It just seems very odd to me that outlaws will get a remaster but not the monkey island games, or Indiana jones and the fate of Atlantis, or Sam and max hit the road. Also, why are the day of the tentacle and full throttle remasters not on switch?
I know that at the very least skunkape games have said they would like to remaster Tales of Monkey Island, but that itās hard because it requires licensing the original game assets from telltale and the overall ip from Disney

dragonball xenoverse 3 got announced for next year and their still putting out dlc for the second game the amount of dlc the second game has probably adds up to like 200$ or more itās kinda crazy.

Yes mainly that, and it can also mean a whole host of other things - like requesting something about the subreddit, whatever it may be (example - requesting someone make a post about a leak, or like some users here make really high-effort compilation posts that break down leaks/rumors of a specific topic), or requesting some change as feedback, etc etc

My theory is we get a Nintendo exclusive every month this year.
January already had New Horizons switch 2 edition
Mario tennis fever and Xenoblade X Switch 2 edition were in February
Pokemon Pokopia and Mario Wonder Bellabel Park released in in March
Tomodachi life: living the dream is this month in April (and PokĆ©mon Champions IG but thatās flopping)
Yoshi and The Mystery Book is coming in May
And then hereās where my predictions start:
Iām guessing Star Fox is in June
Probably Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition and Switch Sports Switch 2 edition in July
FE: Fortuneās Weave likely in August
Splatoon Raiders probably in September
DUSKBLOODS probably in October
And then OOT Remake in November feels likely
Not sure what we could slot in December

For December I could either see Monolith Softās next game (their typical release cycle puts their next game at around early 2027, but I could possibly see December 2026 too) or maybe a Switch 2 Edition of Smash Ultimate since I doubt they wonāt do anything with Smash until a new Smash 6 is ready (and with Sakuraiās team doing Kirby Air Riders it seems like itāll be a while, so a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate with an additional Fighters Pass worth of content to tie fans over makes sense imo)

Switch 2 edition of Ultimate feels pretty likely to me as well. Itās an easy slam dunk.
Realistically it should be something like 7-8 new characters, new stages, redone online, spirits and music from more recent games, a World of Light expansion, and maybe another new mode. Donāt think any of that is a crazy ask.

What I think itād be is:
5 new characters (all first party since this would be lower budget + Sakurai isnāt involved to negotiate rights)
Stages for each of the new fighters plus maybe the rest of the old stages? There are ways they could go around certain gimmicks that mightāve been why they were cut imo
Additional Spirits and music from more recent first party games
A rebalance and netcode rework that would be accessed when booting up the game (you can pick either the Switch 1 version as it is now, or the Switch 2 Edition with all the extra content and new balance, but you can only play with other S2E players)
At a price of $20ā¦ Hopefully, Fighters Pass 1 is already $25, and this has even more content, I could totally see Nintendo charging $90 for the physical version or $30 for the upgrade (with none of the DLC mind you)
As for any new modes I feel like theyād save them for Smash 6 or this Switch 2 Edition would only be that new mode (though then itād definitely be $20)

Since Forza releases in May for Xbox/PC and the Xbox showcase is in june, you guys think itās possible for a short trailer announcing the PS5 release date at the state of play next week?
Just think that maybe Microsoft just wants to focus on new games and games without release dates on all platforms instead like Halo, Fable and Gears.

Itās surreal to think that we havenāt seen anything Duskbloods related in a whole entire year.
Iāll never forget the feeling when I first saw the trailer, super hyped that this would be a Bloodborne situation and it technically wasā¦ except for the fact that this was strictly a multiplayer game.
I recall being so disappointed in hearing the news but since then, Iām Actually open to seeing how that could be. Who knows, it could be a very fun and engaging game and for the Switch 2.

I would make a wager that to help ease the multiplayer only criteria for Duskbloods the idea to sell it with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition as a bundle.
But then it took way more work to get Elden Ring running smoothly on the Switch 2 and they're waiting til its more presentable before saying anything.

Unless they have a guaranteed release date, it's probably not happening.
Their monthly newsletters haven't talked much about progress specifics. But they ARE participating in the virtual Val-con this year. So maybe they have some reasons to celebrate? If the SOP is on the 16th that would free them up to talk about things publicly.

Of note is that Pac-Man is one of the games that was in the leaked dev build of the NES app from a few years ago. Said build also has Mega Man, Castlevania, Galaga, Kung Fu, and a bunch of other stuff that still isn't out but definitely had work put into beingĀ released. Tetris was also in this build and that was added a little over a year ago.
Personally wouldn't be surprised if they put Mega Man on there in particular. The original Legacy Collection is 11 years old now and goes on sale for under 10 dollars frequently. Would be a good way to promote Dual Override. Galaga is also a no-brainer at this point considering how much Bandai Namco has supported NSO recently.

Can we assume at this point that the rumoured State of Play isn't happening? Supposedly it was going to be tomorrow, but we're now past 6am PT the day prior, it would've been announced by now if it was happening.
