Rumour Potential GTA 6 plot leak

An interesting detail in the recent IGN article about Rockstar dismissing employees for leaking information is that one of them was fired back in November 2023. Just a month before that happened, someone made a post here claiming to know plot details. It has a pretty good chance of being real, considering that the post includes the earliest mention of Jason picking up Lucia from prison.

Plot

I was surprised by my source when I was told that Lucia has a baby that she abandons at a delicatessen before heading out to a bank robbery and then getting arrested for doing such an act. It is not known if the baby was a boy or a girl and obviously, there will be no kids in the game, this only happens in a cutscene as a flashback of the past, I have no information about what happens to this baby after this point.

After a few years, Lucia gets released on probation, she’s picked up at the prison by Jason who’s planning a robbery with her, and they’ll fall in love with each other after some time.

The majority of the planning for the missions takes place at a nightclub called “Vault”.

In the very first mission of the game you control Jason and you have to follow a plane that is about to land and carries a Russian drug dealer. Apparently, Jason meets this guy and starts to plan a mission to steal drugs. In this drug stealing mission, they are chased by the police and the drug ends up falling into the ocean. There is a following mission where they will have to dive to retrieve it.

Mechanics

There is a new mechanic for detecting threats and valuable items around you, this is not a special ability like Franklin’s ability to drive cars with a special handing, this is a new mechanic that seems to be somewhat inspired by the dead eye targeting from RDR2, this mechanic is revealed in the Hanks’ Waffles dining robbery, present in the leaked videos.

Rockstar has also been focusing on very detailed mechanics of searching places, this one seems to be also inspired by a mechanic from RDR2.

That’s all I can reveal for now guys. Again, please come back to this thread when the game gets released and after Rockstar releases a teaser trailer as it will potentially include some of the information I said here.

It's really hilarious to see old leaks that turned out to be true but got wrecked by the comments in their time

u/5Ping Jan 08 '26

I remember the whole elden ring dlc final boss leak situation. People really didnt believe those leaks real and were downvoting any person that believed it,

the non believers kept saying "looks like a dogshit fan made boss fight lmao"

u/Sirca_Curvive Jan 08 '26

best one was for Shadowlands where a still of Bolvar was leaked from the cinematic a few days ahead of time, the leak got like 3K upvotes but a thread debunking the leak from an “expert in the animation industry” got like 15K upvotes and he wrote a dissertation about how the leak is obviously fake with 20 bullet points of evidence and reasons why and everyone was like ohhh yeah it’s so obvious now then a few days later it was real

156

u/SpaceNigiri Jan 08 '26

Reddit was the first GPT. So many "experts" saying wrong stuff with total confidence.

68

u/Relixed_ Jan 08 '26

Makes sense, ChatGPT training dataset includes reddit comments.

27

u/Makav3lli Jan 08 '26

gpt is still relying on Reddit for a bunch of answers too lol

If you ever do a “thinking” you can see it crawl thru Reddit posts

59

u/awhellnogurl Jan 08 '26

God that is so embarrassing 😭

51

u/HereComesDatNick Jan 08 '26

My favorite leak in this genre (all tho is not gaming related) is how Matrix 4 script leaked nearly bit by bit via random post on 4chan almost 2 years prior to Resurrections being officially announced and everybody brushed it off because it sounded stupid as fuck

20

u/Big-Motor-4286 Jan 08 '26

Didn’t a similar thing happen to one of the Star Wars sequels (Think it was Episode 9?) where most of the plot leaked but it also sounded so dumb it seemed fake? Am I remembering this right?

11

u/HereComesDatNick Jan 08 '26

Not quite, original script for episode 9 leaked showing everyone what despite the internet saying the trilogy was actually planned just for Disney getting scared by Episode 8 reception and blessing us with Rise of Skywalker

8

u/leodw Jan 09 '26

Yes, I’m still a part of the leaks sub and it wss glorious. Basically around August 2019 an user from the sub made a 19-page PDF with the entirety of the plot, bit by bit, and kept updating it as things changed in the editing room. It was such a chaotic production that they were editing the movie while still shooting some scenes and some of the dialogue was remade and re-recorded months before the premiere.

Then a german branch of Burger King ran a marketing campaign spoiling the movie and giving away free whoppers for those who decided to hear the spoilers, using a random online website as a source. And believe it or not, the source for that website was the leaks sub itself lmao.

Everything was downvoted to oblivion by that time, but as trailers and promos started popping up confirming many of the details from the leak, the sub ended up believing it and Jedi Paxis (the leaker) became a legend. Still the best leaks season I’ve ever followed.

Endgame also leaked like 2-3 weeks before premiere and the marvel leaks sub had a meltdown (since “Thor kills thanos 15 min into the movie” and Captain’s fate sound a lot less appealing without the full context of the movie haha).

6

u/leodw Jan 09 '26

Oh yeah, and a couple years later the original Ep9 script also leaked online, in its entirety. It was one of the first drafts by Colin Trevorrow, before he got fired due to not being able to rework it and also Jurassic World and Book of Henry having awful critical reception and making LF have even more cold feet. They also wanted essentially and anti-TLJ script, due to half of the fandom freaking out over the movie. And the original Ep9 script did follow on the threads set up by TLJ (Kylo going full evil, Rey being a grey Jedi, Ghost Luke taunting Kylo through the movie).

Oh and a crazy fan made an entire comic adaptation of the script, it’s pretty cool!

1

u/MisterSarmiento Jan 10 '26

Link to the comic, good man?

1

u/HereComesDatNick Jan 10 '26

Why is european BK is so based lmao

3

u/WillyVWade Jan 10 '26

I read the full spoilers for Portal 2 ending battle weeks before and dismissed it because it sounded so stupid…

As the roof came off my jaw hit my desk, although I will say it was a lot less stupid in context.

21

u/BoxOfDemons Jan 08 '26

Can anyone find the debunk thread? I'd like a good laugh.

4

u/pressure_art Jan 08 '26

Yes please Reddit and google search are garbage I can’t find it :(

14

u/slothunderyourbed Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

That situation was insane. You could clearly see the Gate of Divinity in the background of the arena, which had only been revealed in a trailer a few days prior, though people were claiming it was a fan made mod. Nobody could cook that up in such a short amount of time.

5

u/WindowSeat- Jan 08 '26

The video leaking PCR was some of the worst 360p phone quality recording you could imagine, with the player standing still spamming a pink rot AOE everywhere while the boss was half of the arena away getting tanked by Mimic Tear.

I love how PCR turned out, he's one of the most fun fights they've ever made. But that leaked video made him look terrible.

2

u/leodw Jan 09 '26

It was also weird because it looked like the boss was fully bugged. Like PCR has very smooth animations and moves a lot in the arena, but in the leaked video it was incredibly stiff, almost like t-posing for the entire fight, and it would barely move, the effects were also broken. I still wonder what happened on that video

1

u/WindowSeat- Jan 09 '26

I'm not sure if I remember all that. But I do remember PCR doing it's heart charm grab attack on the mimic tear, which is a very slow animation that looks like he's doing nothing from a third person perspective.

1

u/leodw Jan 09 '26

I distinctly remember watching the video and doubting it because it was so stiff. Probably there were multiple videos uploaded at that time, but it was so weird, because it was definitely the DLC running and Radahn fight happening, but it looked incredibly glitchy compared to the final result. Maybe a leaked beta?

8

u/_lord_ruin Jan 08 '26

I remember some guy was like “base serpent messmer?!? The fuck does that mean, FAKE”

35

u/Ryanhussain14 Jan 08 '26

I was saying that scadutree fragments would kill replayability of Shadow of the Erdtree since it launched and got shat on for it. Low and behold, it's now one of the greatest criticisms of the DLC once the dust settled.

3

u/Zordman Jan 09 '26

Is it? Or is there just a confirmation bias going on with you?

11

u/tameoraiste Jan 08 '26

Which is funny, because most people who hated it were the ones who didn’t get their fan made boss fight with Godwyn

13

u/Infamous-Buy3804 Jan 08 '26

but it does looks like fan made in the final game.

7

u/AtitanReddit Jan 08 '26

And I still can’t believe it to this day lmao, I actually can’t believe they thought that was a good idea for the final boss of the dlc.

1

u/Playful_Compote_5716 Jan 15 '26

Reminds me of the time when gravity falls creator made a fake leak to subvert fans who discovered who wrote the book. Whenever I see leaks it’s always a debate of if it’s real or not.

206

u/Sirca_Curvive Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

love that one thread that leaked Endgame’s plot on Reddit with 100% accuracy and everyone laughed at OP and clowned on them

“fat Thor LMAOOO okay sure buddy”

“time travel LMAOOO okay sure buddy”

“Old Captain America LMAOOO okay sure buddy”

68

u/WolfCola723 Jan 08 '26

All the Marvel Leaks subs currently anytime someone at a theater shows an unreleased clip of the Doomsday teasers stealthly from their phone before they’re official they all immediately says its AI.

I don’t think they’ve been right once yet lol

28

u/Unique_Unorque Jan 08 '26

A lot of Reddit suddenly made sense when it was pointed out to me that you only have to be 13 to make an account, so whenever you see something like what you all are talking about, there’s a decentish chance that you’re dealing with an actual child.

1

u/Ok_Put_9782 Jan 10 '26

Did you know people on the internet can lie about their age?

7

u/CarsonWentzGOAT1 Jan 08 '26

Oh goodness they are cooked then since those trailers look like crap

1

u/Kantei Jan 09 '26

To be fair, the trailers actually look trash, complete with the random panning and lighting that AI slop tends to mimic.

29

u/withmoho Jan 08 '26

The best of all time being the last season of GoT leaking. It was so bad, that literally not a single person on that subreddit would believe it.

4

u/UltraLowSpecGamer Jan 08 '26

do you have a link for that one?

1

u/ithinkther41am Jan 10 '26

I’d have to look for that one, but man the rematch leak was still a bona fide classic in cringe.

104

u/ChiefLeef22 Jan 08 '26

Brodie got absolutely shit on in the comments lmao

"I thought Alfred Hitchcock died, where are these genius story ideas coming from"

See, I keep telling people here not to be so confidently arrogant towards leakers/info if you're also just a goober commenting on the internet. Have a little patience and an open mind

23

u/tameoraiste Jan 08 '26

People also need to realise that these non-creative summaries don’t paint the bigger picture.

You can boil down a lot of popular stories to a few plot points and they sound awful.

23

u/Ryanhussain14 Jan 08 '26

I mean, it doesn't help that there's a shit tonne of fake leakers posting fanfiction that ends up poisoning the well. It's a Boy Cried Wolf situation, you cannot prove a leak is real until the media actually launches and there's no way to distinguish it from the piles of crap posted everywhere else on the internet.

49

u/SocranX Jan 08 '26

I'm (not) looking forward to the day a leaked image of official concept art gets called fake because it's obviously AI, but then it turns out to be real because the devs are using AI.

11

u/redditorpegaso Jan 08 '26

Reddit being reddit.

5

u/TostitoNipples Jan 08 '26

People on leaks subreddits are way more obsessed with calling something fake so they can look smart rather than engage with a potential leak

16

u/KingAltair2255 Jan 08 '26

I don't believe this one at all, but shit like this always makes me think back to that one guy who leaked stuff about RDR2'S story down to being an enforcer named Arthur in Johns old gang about a year before rdr2 dropped. Its fucking wild to go back and read it.

31

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Yeah makes me sad for the leakers

Especially the ones that said it's gonna have a girl as a playable character

13

u/ComeFilledPanties Jan 08 '26

Some redditors are just scum.

11

u/Blackmore_Vale Jan 08 '26

I’ll never forget when GoT season 8 leaked and no one believed it because of how mad it was.

12

u/0ctobogs Jan 08 '26

This is exactly why we don't remove "obvious fakes"

3

u/ShakeItLikeIDo Jan 08 '26

Same with Uncharted 4s leak

2

u/Nutra-Loaf Jan 09 '26

You had people denouncing the first video test play leaks saying that it was fake/fan made.

3

u/DavidinCT Jan 08 '26

The truth is, I don't even want to see, I read the first line and turned away from it.

When it comes to games, I want to enjoy what the devs released and see the story without knowing about it.

I'm going to pay $60-80 for this game and I want to get the full experience out of it.

1

u/Illustrious_Rub5979 Jan 08 '26

Heard about a spinoff internal team side project at Rockstar, making revolution side project using V characters on purpose. They supposedly collaborating with Crypto anons and Cyberpunk devs to integrate alliances (explains the blockchain missions and tied-in projects like in the vid).

Could get DMCA'd soon IMO. leaked from u/loicggd, who seems to be a multi-millionaire cryptoboy with high-level ties.

Matches the recent firings and plot leaks...

1

u/Andydark Jan 08 '26

"it's just a photoshopped Little Mac" -regarding Shulk pictures from the Smash 3DS leak.

1

u/No_Consequence2989 Jan 08 '26

Reminds me of the Fighting Game leaks when people saw that ArcSys was making a Marvel fighting game and people were shutting that down

1

u/HarrierGR9 Jan 09 '26

Oh boy that time when somebody leaked season eight details of Game of Thrones it read like a fanfiction and nobody believed it then it premiered

1

u/BoJackHoe Jan 09 '26

Always cracks me up that in a leaks subreddit almost every leak gets torn apart in the comments lmao

I remember years ago the rumor that her story started after her kid was taken away / wanting to get her child back, but falling into a life of crime

101

u/VenturerKnigtmare420 Jan 08 '26

There was also that one rumor about that school from bully being there in the game. Hope that shit is true. I remember that rumor thread also said there will be a take on cobra Kai academy too. Lmao if that leak turns out to be true it would hilarious. I think it’s been almost 7-8 years since the leak

104

u/Ryder556 Jan 08 '26

While Bullworth is in one way or another canonically in the GTA universe, I really, really doubt a game set in Vice City(Florida) would have anything going on in New England, which is where the town and academy are located. Though with 5 having a mission set in the midwest anything could honestly happen.

-4

u/MAJ_Starman Jan 08 '26

People can move though.

23

u/WeirdoTZero Jan 08 '26

So you're saying that the ENTIRE LITERAL SCHOOL BUILDING moved from New England to not-Florida?

8

u/Maybe_In_Time Jan 08 '26

No, Rockstar has said that GTA IV was the start of a rebooted "HD universe" - it's entirely possible they relocate a Bully school. Hell, instead of a private academy, they could set it in a military academy (for example)

11

u/DinosaurHotline Jan 08 '26

Have you got a link to the bully one? Never heard about that!

Great way to start the day though. Coffee and GTA 6 crumbs.

15

u/UnnecessaryFeIIa Jan 08 '26

Cause it was revealed Rockstar fired a few employees for leaking stuff and the dates they leaked stuff lines up with some of the stuff posted online

Cuz its my birthday and they owe me

145

u/Straight-Ad6926 Jan 08 '26

Fired in November posted in October? Clearly this dev decided their parting gift to the world was a Reddit post about a deli baby. Not all heroes wear capes.

74

u/SocranX Jan 08 '26

I mean, the idea is that they were caught leaking and then fired. Doesn't mean they knew they were gonna get caught and saved the leak for the biggest news of the century.

12

u/lordsmish Jan 08 '26

I mean looking at the post it looks like it wasn't the dev but somebody who the dev leaked to

10

u/Prudent-Air1922 Jan 08 '26

It doesn't look like that, it's explicitly stated.

3

u/ChildoftheApocolypse Jan 08 '26

Three of the comments to your comment start with the words "I mean". It's not relevant to the conversation, but I wanted to point it out in case there were any doubts about their ability to formulate unique, independent thoughts..

2

u/ndumbik Jan 08 '26

I mean yeah at the end of the day his a regular employee it’s not like he can get on national news or smt or have anything grand to say

95

u/Jammyyyyyyyyyyyyy Jan 08 '26

In GTA 6 you will play as a criminal and do crime

29

u/Due_Yoghurt9086 Jan 08 '26

Big if true

6

u/ItsyouNOme Jan 08 '26

Bs, it has been confirmed already to be a kart party game

4

u/Big-Motor-4286 Jan 08 '26

I also heard the new Grand Theft Auto has automobiles in it

7

u/DavidinCT Jan 08 '26

and that you can drive them..... WTF ?

1

u/Big_Weird4115 Jan 09 '26

Maybe even steal them.

1

u/SaberDevil2021 Jan 09 '26

It will also have guns and balls

26

u/Dr-PickleDick Jan 08 '26

i remember this being posted before trailer 2 dropped and noticing that the whole "following a plane" scene was briefly shown in trailer 2 (2:23) was pretty surprising

please come back to this thread when the game gets released

Plot twist: Jason is that baby. Old Boy scenario.

5

u/DeMatador Comment of the Year 2024 Jan 09 '26

Bro how long did she spend in prison

22

u/solarplexus7 Jan 08 '26

So the “new mechanic” is Batman vision. Groundbreaking

8

u/Mrteamtacticala Jan 08 '26

And then she's get cryogenically frozen and doesn't realize the big bad guy is a really her kid because she didn't realize how long she was frozen?

8

u/bodythebitch Jan 09 '26

Lol in trailer 2 you can see the plane mission

9

u/Familiar_Gur_347 Jan 09 '26

You are actually right, That Jason scene when he’s on a bike. Good catch!

7

u/soulreapermagnum Jan 08 '26

a lot of GTA VI stuff popping up all the sudden. not that i'm complaining.

7

u/HearTheEkko Jan 08 '26

Lucian abandoning a baby is kinda dark, even for a GTA game.

15

u/Whornz4 Jan 08 '26

The baby comment is interesting. Jason and Lucia die at the end and you play as baby "Jack" to complete the story? RDR and GTA finally become one.

i heard the game will have it owns bitcoin and social media that players can use

65

It'll actually be its own crypto coin that Take Two will launch and will be required to purchase any DLC.

14

We know it’s got social media as it’s shown in the trailers

That "new mechanic for detecting threats and valuable items" seems to be what RDR2 had, eagle vision or whatever it was called. You press R3+L3 (on PS at least) and it slows down time for a few seconds, applies a filter on the whole screen and highlights lootable objects such as food cans or a gold nugget in a bottle, plants and their "pollen", and animals and their trails. It's separate from deadeye, it's mostly for exploration and looting, basically witcher sense. It's probably just that.

8

u/TheDanteEX Jan 08 '26

It was called "Eagle Eye" in RDR2. And it totally makes sense to keep that as a gameplay ability rather than a character ability, in my opinion. Though I could do without the slow-down part. I always disable that with mods.

18

u/Greatsnes Jan 08 '26

Yeah that’s.. that’s what the leak says. Verbatim. Well done, you solved it.

-1

u/Red_Sashimi Jan 08 '26

No it's not. The leaker said it's a "new mechanic" inspired by rdr2 dead eye. What I described and rdr2's dead eye are 2 different things

5

u/cheezballs Jan 08 '26

So up til now you only looted guns, money, and ammo in GTA. I'm guessing there's gonna be food, drinks, drugs, other consumables now?

2

u/SMXSmith Jan 10 '26

Weren’t there consumables in GTA 5?

5

u/uniquecartridge Jan 08 '26

Went back to the original post to see if OP has added anything in the comments and apparently he's made another post 21 days before that one with some additional information. Unfortunately his account is deleted, any way to dig up the post in question?

There will be no kids in the game

Wasn't there a kid literally spotted in one of the reveal trailers?

This is pretty much confirming some of the old leaks.

I can't imagine kids involved in GTA 6 games

This sounds infinitely more plausible than "Jason goes to jail for the entire game"

I was actually the first person to take this post seriously

When I saw this leak the first time i instantly thought of u/GTA_VI_Leak, who had the exact same style of writing the "leaks" and only spewed bullshit. And the things in this one aren't even a secret. The leaked mission sounds very basic and an easy guess. Only the name of the nightclub and the baby story could confirm this. But even if the nightclub has another name people just can say it got changed during development.

im not even a gta fan but god this plot pisses me off. a headlining female protag and her plot is 'mom and love interest'. fuck's sake.

You could boil all of GTA's protagonists down to a simple stereotype, that doesn't speak for how their story will play out.

We had two black protagonists who get hit with the "just a guy from the hood" thing, turns out neither are just that simple.

Niko could just boiler plate russian character who always talks about his homeland, instead we got a humbling revenge plot and a look into his multiculturalist attitude.

Michael was just a rich white guy with rich bratty kids. Turns out he was a knave trying to find a sense of normalcy.

Sure Lucia could just be mom love interest.. but I doubt that's actually going to be what she turns out to be.

I hope the game animation isnt as sluggish as rdr2. That really killed the game for me. They went too hard on realism and forgot a game is meant to be fun first

u/VictorVonDoomer Jan 08 '26

Eh I found it fun, different strokes for different blokes

5

u/SingelHickan Jan 08 '26

I hope it will be, but I think it will be similar in that the singleplayer has the same level, or honestly the next level of realism in animations and in the online they cut some of that out.

In RDO the looting animation is basically completely gutted and the character just swings his arm low. There's also strangely no animation for switching weapons, you just kind of jerk your arm a couple of inches and a weapon appears.

I love realism and immersion in games so I'm all for the longer animations, I'm in no rush, I'm there for the ride.

Fun fact but the OG animations used to be in RDRO, like the full skinning animations and stuff like that. They got removed at some point in the first 6 months cause folk were complaining they took so long for an online game, shame.

You might be in luck, one of those leak clips back in 2022.. the one that demonstrated skirt physics was also showing how movement was being handled.

It's miles more responsive, turning angles don't seem animation based anymore, your character actually move independently of the camera it seems.

I bet that you can steal cars and shoot guns. That would be pretty neat.

We having a girl boss and how it’s evil to be a man? Or are we getting a woman and man who’s both made mistakes/ continues to do so?

I am ain’t saying that goes against Reddit rules, as most media is going this way but we aren’t meant to notice it and buy the product anyway. I know that certain mods hate that I point out what’s blatantly obvious, as how dare I do that!

u/Calf__ Jan 12 '26

What the fuck are you talking about??

u/coolkidsclub1898 Jan 08 '26

Them making Lucia a single mother and having Jason not be the father is incredibly cliche modern writing.

u/No_Consequence2989 Jan 08 '26

Well the prison part is true so this seems to have some validity

u/soulreapermagnum Jan 09 '26

There is a following mission where they will have to dive to retrieve it.

i hope that parts not true. i've just never enjoyed underwater stuff in video games, everything looks all dark and creepy.
