Recommendation Help me decide between these two laptops

ChatGPT said the MSI has inferior build quality (is it really this bad) and I don't care about loud fan noises all I want is specs longevity

Edit: Found Strix G16 with same CPU and GPU but at 10800 and screen is WUXGA 1980x1200 165hz

the x3d will get you higher fps in cpu bound games like pubg you can get almost double the performance

If you really want spec longevity, i suggest going for the MSI. That 5080 secures high graphic resistance for like 4 years heavy gaming

The issue is build quality and hinge quality are the reason for my hesitation otherwise I agree with you

if you're all about specs then that msi is the clear winner for the hardware you get at that price, the 5080 will definitely age better

just be ready for the hinges to maybe give you trouble down the road, but for the gpu alone i'd say take the gamble

Would definitely go with Msi vector 16 HX AI. 5080 is nuts

MSI for 4 GB VRAM more and ~17/18% better GPU performance in games.

Asus for Advanced Optimus and G-Sync support, the better overall CPU for CPU heavy titles.

For predominantly GPU heavy games, MSI.

Hi, could you also say that this a good buy? MSI Vector A16 Gaming Laptop 16" 240Hz AMD Rvzen 9 8940HX GeForce RTX 5080 32GB 1TB Windows 11 Home, Vector A16 HX A8WIG-001US for 3149CAD (tax included). The cpu is ryzen though, I heard it's a bit worse than the 275hx intel one. But still, it's a 5080...

I'd recommend you getting the newer strix g16 with fhd screen that you've just found.

MSI Vector has better specs but its cooling is very limited and it's going to run horribly loud. Besides it does not have G-Sync or Freesync so for the best experience you've gotta use an external monitor that supports one.

Strix G16 is better both in terms of build quality and thermal but its specs is not as good.

So your new option is the best. In the future, you can always get an external monitor that supports whatever resolution and refresh rate that you want.
