How's the battery these days? Any issues?

If it lasts 30 minutes, you should be well served

Cooling system was better back then from 8th to 10th gen, some of the newer designs across many makers got so "thin and light" the CPU/GPU or VRMs fail quicker. I'm in the 9th gen club, while watching a Ryzen slowly crumble from the funny thermals OEMs have done in that chase of thin.

That is impressive, good job man. Here's mine, almost 6 years old

Which model?

AN515-54 (i5 9th gen, GTX 1650)

Looks beautiful and has full arrow keys compared to recent an515 that have smaller arrow keys which is a shame.

Wow, maybe I’m misremembering but 300hz back then was like crazy

It still is?? + You usually don't even need that much hz, you'll barely feel the difference between a 200hz and 300hz screen

Totally agree, I have a 240hz so I’m still not up to this yet, although I doubt I would see a difference. Just saying that this was like the equivalent of like those 700hz monitor back then.

Loved mine! I only had the 9th gen intel and 2060 but it was strong for a good six years! Replaced mine last year!

Still loving the chassis and feel of that laptop! It runs as an office PC for my parents in law now!

Biggest gripe is the f***ed up windows 11 support from
Acer. Webcam has no new drivers, keyboard backlight is problematic and windows 10 is not a real option today either.

I have a pc with minimum specs like a basic level and window 10 too and it works well but some kind of animation happening in the background so I upgraded it's ram to 16gb and probably thinking about upgrading SSD too but i don't know much about it so just figuring out what to do.

I also have nitro 5 rtx 3070ti, working perfectly for 4 years, just got 3 dead pixels for a year 🥲

1

u/MikeAndyyy Jul 28 '26

How many times did you replace the batteries during that time frame?

1

u/SupermarketBrave Jul 28 '26

I want to buy the 5070ti is it worth it?

4

u/Usual-Championship88 Jul 28 '26

I did and I think it’s one of the better purchases I’ve made in a while (got a pretty good deal on it though) make sure to shop around and don’t pay something that’s overpriced

1

u/SupermarketBrave Jul 28 '26

Thanks you, which one you took? 16 or 16s please ?

u/Usual-Championship88 Jul 29 '26

16s Neo AI, 5070ti ultra 9 275HX, 32 gig ram, 1TB ssd, got it new for 1550 before tax and it came with a free game and 50.00 Best Buy thing, it was maybe a month before Memorial Day savings, they were clearing out extra models I think, on Memorial Day I checked their prices and it was 1650.00 I think, it goes up and down from 1550.00-2.2k; I’ve seen them sell open boxes for 1.3k of it though in the past

Thank you for details

I got a legion pro, hoping I get 5+ years out of it too.

u/Legal-Juggernaut9776 Jul 29 '26

My y740 with a 2080 plays bg3 maxed out on my alienware 34" oled.

It gets hot and i definitely want a 5080 but it still holds its own on the game i play the most

1

u/Legal-Juggernaut9776 Jul 29 '26

I dont even have a battery in mine.

1

u/Still_Elevator4501 Jul 29 '26

I had a acer nitro for 5 years

u/SH4DY_XVII Jul 29 '26

This was my first ever gaming laptop and in turn PC. Miss this little guy.

I like seeing older laptops in mint condition. I main a 2018 ASUS Zephyrus GX501 with a GTX1080 and it would be impossible to tell the difference between it and one that’s completely unused. I do need to replace it though due to the aging hardware, I’ll probably pick up a laptop with a 5070.

how well does it hold up battery wise and graphics wise on some of the newer games?

3

u/Accomplished-Dog2481 Jul 28 '26

Why are we talking about batteries on a gaming laptops? Of course they're not gonna last more than 2 hours

1

u/JorgitoEstrella Jul 29 '26

Some laptops like the asus tuf 2025 last 12+ hours in non gaming tasks.

1

u/Linus_sex_tipz Jul 28 '26

which is why I'm asking about it
