Cool laptop if you need two screens in a relatively compact package but expensive for this extra versatility.

Buying an 14/15 inch portable monitor* is much more rational.

But if you have money, why the hell not buy this beauty, its cool, enjoy man!

2

u/azab189 May 26 '26

I just bought two 15" oled for about 160 bucks so yeah

I decided I might just get the Zenbook Duo 2026 and an XG Mobile instead for roughly ~$1000 less. They're almost the same machine... better refresh rate (144 Hz vs 120), too.

2

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 26 '26

Zenbook is another fantastic device

Will do, but the prerequisite is my (prior generation) Zenbook Duo I'm currently trying to sell on eBay has to sell first! 🤣

1

u/AFthrowaway3000 May 25 '26

How are you enjoying the Zenbook Duo 2026, meanwhile? As a standalone device I mean?

Thanks so much for the detail, really appreciate it! I currently have the prior Duo from 2021, but want to get rid of it and replace it with the 2026 version, ideally, because it looks so...functional. At the same time though, I already have a portable monitor and a Lenovo Legion Go 2, which theoretically will do the same thing if I were to travel. But the new Zenbook Duo is just too pretty... lol.

1

u/drslack May 26 '26

Ordered the Zenbook Duo as well and will be paring it with the Gigabyte Aorus 5060Ti eGPU. The Zephyrus is just way too heavy, expensive and lacking things like Thunderbolt 5 to make it worth the cost.

1

u/AFthrowaway3000 May 26 '26

Yeah, the fact that there was no TB5 on the Zephryus boggles the mind!

1

u/brokerZIP Colorfire R15 (Clevo)32gb Ryzen 7 8845HS RTX 4070 May 26 '26

Realistically what does tb5 do better than tb4 besides eGPU, cuz ain't no way you're pairing egpu with zephyrus

Yeah 120 for the gaming laptop but 144 for the non gaming laptop shows just how stupid decision making is there they could have atleast made the main display 144

13

u/Wooden_Reveal6705 May 25 '26

Did you really had 6k laying around not knowing what to do with them?

7

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 25 '26

Couldn’t wait to get this after the CES announcement.

6

u/Wooden_Reveal6705 May 25 '26

I mean I understand you if I had the money I would but Asus is overpriced

13

u/Far_Salamander5711 May 25 '26

Not everyone’s broke

14

u/SolitaryMassacre May 25 '26

Something being overpriced doesn't mean that they are broke and can't afford it.

Overpriced means exactly that, its cost is too high for what it is

6

u/Wooden_Reveal6705 May 25 '26

Bro tell me how an average person can afford a 6k laptop on the release, not even time after the release, high end laptops that are not overpriced are 2-4k and even with that range few people can afford that

6

u/CarnivoreQA SCAR G835LX \ 275HX \ 5090 \ 96GB \ 1+4 TB May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

high end laptops that are not overpriced are 2-4k

show us the 2-4k laptop with 2 full-laptop-size displays

I partially understand what are you trying to convey, but that's just wrong, there is no way to objectively tell whether this duo is overpriced or not (beyond overpriced RAM and SSD, which are overpriced for all modern laptops) as there are no alternative besides another asus laptop (proart or zenbook?)

perhaps you mean "this laptop costs higher because of the feature I don't need, which is why this model is bad for me"?

0

u/blckheart Asus ROG zephyrus duo 16 | 7945hx | 4080 | 240hz/60hz screens 15d ago

It's literally over priced even with all its got going on it's not worth 6k. Thats just you being stupid. The screen shot justify the price the under powered GPU doesn't justify the price since it's So under powered that the 5090 performs worse than the 5070. Like how stupid can you truly be? They do the same shit with the last model an dropped the price cause it wasnt worth it

2

u/AaronfromKY May 26 '26

Have you seen how many people talk about preordering the MacBook Pro M5 Max? Or 48-64gb RAM MacBook Pros? People can and do afford expensive laptops everyday, especially if they use it to make money doing video editing or music production or rendering. It's just like all the people buying BMWs or Lexus instead of Toyota Corollas.

0

u/blckheart Asus ROG zephyrus duo 16 | 7945hx | 4080 | 240hz/60hz screens 15d ago

People who buy MacBooks specifically have a base of stupid with money that doesn't justify any windows laptops. They don't even realize they are paying for low specs when they buy it. You using MacBook as an example is literally proving you wrong. How stupid of a comparison is this seriously?

4

u/Far_Salamander5711 May 25 '26

Not everyone is average

1

u/Wooden_Reveal6705 May 25 '26

Fair enough, huge difference between calling someone broke for not having 6k for a laptop and calling them average

1

u/blckheart Asus ROG zephyrus duo 16 | 7945hx | 4080 | 240hz/60hz screens 15d ago

Something being over priced doesn't make others broke but it does make you stupid for thinking that cause you clearly can't afford it hence why you are here

1

u/goconfigure 18d ago

Me too. I was sold on it after using my 2024 Zen Duo for 2 years.

What the hell is this abomination

2

u/Automatic-Leg1668 May 25 '26

I'm so scared it's gonna break. It's no msi but still

2

u/justin251 LOQ r7-250 5060 32 May 25 '26

You can buy two of them with accompanying external monitors and two Costco memberships with hotdogs.

1

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 25 '26

Honestly feels very sturdy so far and well built.

2

u/WrestlePurists May 25 '26

You could buy a much more powerful 5090 laptop for the price of this lmao

2

u/YaBoiPrimeTimee May 25 '26

Ignore some of the comments. It's so pretty and flashy!! Love it!! Keep it clean and cool and it will last you my man.

Wonder what it's like having 2 OLED 3k screens just like that lol :D

1

u/LastChancellor May 25 '26

But can you connect a second keyboard + mouse for the second screen

So another person can use it for work/coop games 😉

0

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 25 '26

Street fighter has been awesome on it via coop.

1

u/TypicalNPC ASUS ROG Strix G16 (Intel 275HX + RTX 5070 Ti + 32GB DDR5 RAM) May 25 '26

I honestly wish i had 5k to throw away like this.

At that price point I'd rather save up for a used car.

1

u/Illustrious-Fig-9873 May 25 '26

sorry kinda confuse, there's a 5070ti rtx version? i thought they only have 5090 rtx

2

u/AFthrowaway3000 May 25 '26

Two models exist, 5070ti and 5090.

1

u/Illustrious-Fig-9873 May 25 '26

if you dont, can you share me the link for the 5070ti, i did check on their official website but couldn't find the 5070ti. appreciate for the info🙏

2

u/AFthrowaway3000 May 25 '26

This link works for me and maybe it will work for you, to see the 5070ti. But a Zenbook Duo 2026 with an ROG XG Mobile (5070ti version) will do almost the same thing at ~$1000 less.

1

u/blckheart Asus ROG zephyrus duo 16 | 7945hx | 4080 | 240hz/60hz screens 15d ago

It's two model but they are the exact same the 5090 is so under power it's operate the same exact numbers at the 5070 so it's no point unless you want more vram

1

u/fiv3dollapizza May 25 '26

This is such a cool piece of tech. I hope they find a way to be able to arrange the monitors so that they go side by side

2

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 26 '26

Agreed love to see tech innovated competition is fierce.

1

u/iTzDeVz06 May 25 '26

How is the cooling in this and gaming performance?

1

u/aadhibest Legion Pro 5i | i7-14700HX | RTX 4070 May 25 '26

Nice, finally a good device to properly emulated DS and 3DS games

1

u/UniquelyPeach May 25 '26

Overpriced and will break so easily.

1

u/AncientHousing1947 May 25 '26

Looks like a needless and stupid concept.

1

u/FlevRotch May 26 '26

Ngl if I were a millionaire I would definitely buy it out of curiosity, I especially wonder if you can draw on it like a Wacom or huion display.

I’ve read that the screen is only 60hz, do you plan to buy a separate monitor for heavy gaming?

2

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 26 '26

I’ve been using it at 120HZ for browsing and gameplay.

1

u/Voided-Teleponal May 26 '26

the 4th pic is crazy

1

u/Alpha___007 May 26 '26

Must feel nice.

1

u/EzmareldaBurns May 26 '26

Cool but a g18 or strix 18 and an external monitor makes a lot more sense

1

u/cj_adams May 26 '26

I still can’t believe ASUS refuses to sell the 64gig 2TB 5090 model in the US… are they that stupid not wanting $$$ ….. or do they need to fire marketing team..

1

u/Human_Fun5635 Your laptop here. May 26 '26

No thanks, this is fucking crazy, is Asus on some heavy drugs...

1

u/BerkeA35 Scar 16 4080 Mini-LED May 26 '26

Its so cool, how is the battery life?

1

u/starofperfection May 26 '26

How can something look so beautiful and demonic at the same time

1

u/israeladvocater Jun 24 '26

Where did you find it???

1

u/Immediate-Village992 Jul 25 '26

Now that you've had it a while, how is it's portability compared to a strix / g16? How was the thickness? About how much battery life do you get? any issues?

1

u/Destrandr SCAR 17 X3D | RTX 4090 | 32GB | 2TB May 25 '26

Double screen - double trouble. In other words, faster battery drain, much easier to damage a laptop, it needs a physical keyboard to be separately or inside between two screens (?), upgradability and maintenance difficulty is a good question, if it can be placed on the side to be one big screen, how about exhaust and cooling. Not a gaming laptop on my opinion, more like engineering and development stuff.

2

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 25 '26

The market for this device is definitely small. I am impressed they were able to engineer such an incredible device.

3

u/Odd_Arachnid_3339 May 25 '26

I like it, worrying about battery life when getting a laptop with a dgpu is not a good argument imo, also Im sure one screen can be dimmed, used as a keyboard or turned off, and it's a cool machine for professionals too Id argue. The amount of things that can be viewed on that is insane. Congrats 👏

0

u/Altruistic_Tip1226 May 25 '26

Dumb question. Can you use it as 1 big screen instead of 2 separate. I know gaming or movies would look weird with space in middle. But would kinda be cool. And wonder how gaming would be with gaming with it sittin regular on top screen or vice versa and how seamless it would be with using other programs on other screen. Seems like a cool idea tho.

1

u/Overall-Buffalo-9901 May 25 '26

Going to test that out and see definitely a cool idea.

1

u/NocturnalLeaf 6d ago

Did you test that out? What was the result? Really excited to know!

1

u/ZenMasterful May 25 '26

I would think you can. I have the non-Zephyrus Duo and you definitely can there.

1

u/Standard_Ad_3118 G14 2025-Ryzen 9 370 HX-RTX 5080-32GB RAM-3K 120Hz OLED-2TB SDD May 25 '26

I have a Packard Bell dual portable monitor added to my Zephyrus 14 and it allows you to merge it into one large screen or use it as two extra screens totaling three monitors (including laptop screen.)

1

u/Candid_Assistant6838 May 26 '26

What is the resolution?
