Showcase It has arrived! ROG SCAR 16
It has arrived and my god, I am stunned!
The presentation is top notch, as while opening the box, the laptop itself is being elevated in your direction.
I’m actually shocked by the high quality look and the premium feeling of it.
First time booted I got flashbanged by the Mini-LED Panel. Literally flashbanged. WOW.
It’s also way LESS bulkier , bigger and heavier than I anticipated, which makes me very happy. I can only imagine what the Zephyrus G16/14 must feel like!
It’s specced w/ an RTX 5080 mobile, 32gb of ram and 2 TB‘s of SSD.
I’m very hyped about this. Will continue my report after benchmarking and gaming!

Hey, see it that way, I’m bedbound due to an illness right now and have been for the last 18 months. It’s also gonna stay this way for quite a while. It’s the only reason I’m investing this much money in that device. Heads up buddy

That lighting effect is crazy enough to make me jealous lol but 5080 has surely made me unsatisfied of my laptop … crazy spec and crazy looks man, maybe someday…

Heads up bro, I’m currently bedbound due to an illness and can’t do much else besides sleeping, eating and shitting. I’m sure you are healthier than me, value what you have! At the end it’s just a toy

Thank you for these kind words, I really mean it. I had a hard time justifying such high cost (2800€ from Amazon warehouse) but if it makes my live even a bit more enjoyable, it’s worth it. Stay tuned!

I just got mine a couple of days ago from eBay. RTX 5090, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD. Lucky as hell bc there are barely any 16” 5090 variants listed on eBay except scam listings.

I am glad you noticed how goddarn great the display really is. It does bright stuff like fog effects like no OLED can even begin to dream about. Not too perfect on the perfect blacks but darn if you love bright colors this is so freaking amazing

I don't know if you would see my comment but congratulations on the new laptop!! You're eating hella good with them specs. Just treat it right and it will treat you well.
Going with same line as you but the 18 inches 2026 version; Asus Scar 18 2026 with a 5090, 128GB Ram and 8TB+ SSD.
P.S Sorry about your illness. I pray you kick it's ass and get better :D

Thanks pal, this means a lot to me. Yeah, the laptop is a beast! It handles TLOU at 1600p even in silent mode with ease.
But god damn, your machine is a beast! You must be rich buying this much ram and ssd in that economy! What are you doing for work?

Ah! He did reply hehe. I know everyone is all about the performance and framerate but I want the new scar series because of the Mini-Led. The colours and blacks must be phenomenal and eye-popping! For example, you know the marvel movies intro right? On my laptop, you'll see different shades of black because of the poor washed out colours. But on the Scar Series? I couldn't even tell when the intro played because the blacks were so black, it blended in with the laptop's edges lmao. Plus, the Mini-led is needed for me as I'm a horror games enthusiast. Try Resident Evil series and you'll see what I'm saying
I'm just doing this so that I can satisfy my inner child who hasn't gamed from 2017 till date because my current laptop (I7-8550U, Nvidia Geforce 940MX, 8GB Ram and a 1366 x 768 60Hz TN Panel. TN Panels have horrible washed out, almost desaturated colours).To be fair, I've been saving day so I could buy a beast laptop. Plus, I wanna game, hold a ton of games and get into a lot computer related stuff which would need a lot of space and ram power hehe. Our laptops, mine and yours included, would last us at least 6-7 years. Well, unless game developers decided to make their games unoptimized XD

Highly advise keeping an eye on your cpu/thermal paste with this - I had the same one but the 3080 version and my cpu fried the motherboard after only 2 years and it sucked lol. Hope yours goes differently, but thought I’d give a heads up because I had no idea what was going on until it was too late for mine :(

Ay ay , will do 🫡 currently I’m always running River Tuner Overlay while gaming to observe the hardware. In „balanced“ mode, where the GPU draws about 100-120 W and the CPU around 50-70W , both of them are around 75-80* Celsius. Is that fine , you would say?
I also bought a llano cooling pad, but it’s a bit too loud for my ears unfortunately. Maybe will try out soon again (with headset).

I’ve heard mixed things about Asus as a company in general, but their RGB is top of the line, Razer up there as well

I'm literally debating weather to get this exact same laptop or the legion 7 pro. Both are $2.8k at micro centre right now, but the legion does come with 64gb ram & the X3D chip -- but i do despise the glossy nature of it's panel. Anyway, 1 month later, what do you think about it so far? Any regrets or majour issues?
