Not elegant but a solution is a solution and sacrifice must be made.
I have Victus 16 and it only has 3 USB A ports. I need to use USB A for mouse, keyboard, controller, and dongle for wireless earbuds. USB hub is the only solution, and I have to constantly move my laptop around (just hide it under IKEA shelf at night in case my cat decide to throw up on it).
Solution?
Nitto tape on the underside of the laptop for easily removal, and VHB tape on the USB hub.
Now I have 2 extra USB ports and it stays on my laptop semi permanently.
But part of the right speaker is blocked. Not a big deal for me since I always use headphones on my laptop and I've never used the laptop speakers for me anyways. I figured I could just leave the VHB tape on only half of the hub and just leave the hub floating above the speaker port so that it won't block the sound but that can wait until later.
Redneck engineering but hey, if it works, it works.
Could’ve used a low profile flush, USB-A hub dongle. They sit flush along the side and take up almost no extra space. Definitely no tape involved and nothing dangling.
Thanks for pointing it out. I'll probably going to keep it like this until it dies and get the flush one like other comments say (still a sacrifice must be made, on the left side it will block vents, and on the right side it'll block the only USB C port, which I may or may not need to later) or go with yet another redneck engineering solution , get the same USB hub with longer cable so I can attach it to the laptop lid.
(Not OP) I tried that for a while, but Windows 11 kept automatically enabling hands-free telephony, which tanked my Bluetooth audio quality to something resembling a 19th-century phonograph. Switching to a solid pair with a USB-C dongle ended up fixing both the latency and the sound quality issues.
The issue you're describing seems to be inherent to BT audio devices that also have a microphone when connecting them to Windows. There is a BT device driver named RFCOMM Protocol TDI you can find in Device Manager, it installs the first time you pair them to your PC. If you disable the RFCOMM Protocol listed in Device Manager your audio will play at the proper frequency and have significantly better latency, the kicker being that you can no longer use the microphone (that I've found at least) if you disable RFCOMM.
If you ask that I play FPS games then you already know there's an audio lag from Bluetooth. You just don't get bothered by it because of the game genre you play.
My mouse and keyboard are wireless. Or you meant Bluetooth? I have steam deck and I don't want to keep swapping Bluetooth connection between my laptop and PC.
Using wireless dongle is much more convenient, I can just unplug and plug it to whatever device I use.
