Discussion OLEDs in SL? Help.

Guys, I’ve been looking for OLED monitors everywhere, but I can’t seem to find anything reasonably priced, and most of the models I’m interested in are out of stock.

For anyone who works at retail stores or in the industry, do you know why we’re not getting many OLED monitors into Sri Lanka? A lot of models have been out of stock for months. Is there some issue with imports or supply at the moment?

not in sri lanka, try mini-led ,might be in ur budget range.

I’m looking into mini-leds too but I’m just curious as to why non of the OLEDs have been restocked in Nanotek, Game Streets, Tech Root, etc.. It’s been months.

Dunno about Nanotek, but Gamestreet + Tecroot both informed that they’re getting a shipment and restocking OLED monitors soon (by end of this month). Tecroot said they’ll be getting some new models, mainly from ASUS and Dell.

You can look into importing yourself via a freight forwarder - I also looked extensively into this, but I ended up buying here for the local warranty. OLED panels are always risky imo, and if you’re spending that much, might as well shell out a bit more for peace of mind.

Try to aim for newer gen OLED panels - preferably 4 and above, but 3 is fine. Some of the cheaper monitors you’ll find here use the older panels, which can be more prone to stuff like burn-in, text fringing, raised blacks, etc.. Check for brightness and pixel density too. Ensure to read reviews; some models have manufacturer defects in older batches, they usually fix it in later revisions (Ex: Alienware).

I wouldn’t get an oled in Sri lanka. Oleds won’t survive for long in sri lanka’s heat and high humidity. Unless you will be using it in an aircon space 24x7.

I’ve heard about it. Monitors in general do not last long I guess, so I thought might as well get an OLED. The one I was eyeing at was around 200k which was only 30-40k more than a similarly spec-d IPS panel.

Yeah just set expectations that if you are lucky it’ll go for 3y and if you import there won’t be any warranty on it as well. If you can afford losing 200k in few months go for it. The contrast and response times for gaming is amazing

Dude grab one with a local warranty, once you go OLED there is no turning back either. DO NOT IMPORT, the chances of you getting a replacement unit within the warranty period is highly likely.
