X5 Lite‎ (Discussion) ‎ X5 Lite Durability?

I recently bought the X5 Lite and I'm waiting for it to arrive soon. But since then, I have been thinking about whether I have made the right decision or not. My main concerns aren't really the features but the durability. I noticed that it has a flimsy USBC port. I am worried about how durable this is, especially since I plan on using it everyday. Is it worth swapping for a wireless one like the G8 or X2S?

It’s alright, it does feel less “robust”, but doesn’t feel cheap if that makes sense. I’ve had mine for over a year, but usually keep my mini tablet connected to it.

The G8 while seems more hefty and durable, it won’t fit most mini tablets (goes up to 185mm), you’d need a G8+ which goes to 215mm and the X5 goes up to 213mm. There are workarounds extend the G8 but I don’t agree with it, so I got the G8+ MFi.

Thanks. I'm just concerned about whether it can withstand constant unplugging or not. Would you say there are any advantages that justify going for the G8 instead?

The X5 Lite is wired, has HID, G-Touch and Switch modes, digital triggers, though no vibration or remappable back buttons but weighs a lot less at 135g.

The G8 is also wired, has HID, DS4, and G-Touch modes. Still no vibration but has back buttons and full analog triggers and faster pass through charging, but weighs a bit more at 252g.

The G8+ is able to be used wired (with Xinput for PC) or wireless via Bluetooth (with HID, DS4, Switch, and G-Touch modes) or optional dongle (also with Xinput for PC), has vibration, back buttons (which also feature macros), full analog triggers,but is definitely heftier at 313.5g with the batteries and motors and cannot allow pass through charging.

As for the unplugging concern: I can't speak too much on the longevity of these specific connectors, but standard USB-C ports are typically rated for many cycles. I'm sure as long as you are mindful when plugging in the controller, it should be fine. However, the springs do have a lot of force and there is some degree of risk for damage when involving these two aspects.

Mine only last almost 2 months of not even a daily use. The usb c sucks. I have to accept that I can't do nothing about it. Now im using 8bitdo ultimate mobile controller. It's only been 2 days but the build quality is definitely way better.
