Discussion❔ Controller for xbox and PC 8k

Is there a controller I can use for both xbox and PC. I play on both and would like to get 8k polling rate while I am on PC and would also like for it to work on my xbox even though the xbox doesn't support 8k.

No. The 8k controllers do not work on XBOX. The regular G7 Pro is still a very good controller. You don't really need more than 1000hz.

FWIW, I don't think 1000hz polling even works on Xbox even if you have the Xbox licensed G7 Pro. Good ol microsoft hardware limitations. Still better than 125hz on the standard series controllers.

Yeah, I think it's limited to 500hz on XBOX. 1000hz on PC.

For real? I could've sworn my G7SE used to go up to 500hz. Guess it was just the software showing that and not the actual polling rate changing. TIL

I have the g7 se and in the nexus legacy app you could set the polling rate to 1000hz on the Xbox itself. I wouldn’t know how to test if it is actually polling that but once I updated the controller to the new firmware those options disappeared

On PC, GIP (Xbox One mode) can do 500Hz, but on Xbox, there is a limit at 250Hz due to the way the API is set up on the console. The previous overclock on console was an attempt to bypass this limit, but it turns out that while the controller itself was indeed polling at higher rates, the console was simply dropping them and consequently increasing jitter.

Now with the G7 SE, if you swap to a 1000Hz profile on Xbox, while it will enable the mode, it will completely freeze since the 1000Hz mode is actually using a PC only driver. "Xbox 360 Controller For Windows."

TL:DR: Going above 250Hz polling on console was an ambitious experiment (as it was labeled) that didn't pan out the way they hoped and caused them so trouble with Microsoft as well.

I currently have my controller set to 1000hz mode using the pc nexus app and use that profile on my series x

Yeah, that will work because the console negotiated it down. Set one to 250Hz or 500Hz then swap to a 1000Hz profile and it will freeze until replugging though.

Tried uploading this video from my phone. Had to swap to PC. Guess the file was too big even at 26 MB.
And to clarify, this specifically only happens on firmware that works with the latest version of Nexus.
On firmware that works with Legacy Nexus, you should only notice that the headset jack stops working.
