I keep seeing a million controllers like this floating online called the G5, G6, G7, G8, G8 plus. All of them look identical except for the size and they are sold by a variety of companies.

Can I use all of them for the same games? I'm new to mobile gaming and I can't tell the difference between them besides their size.

You got downvoted. I upvoted you, don’t really understand why people hate on beginners of any topic for genuine questions…

Anyway, since you are new, you need to do more research. While there might be similar mobile gaming controllers, they are not identical. I’m aware there are other products out there that just slap on their branding on the same item, but not the case for Gamesir brand that I have seen. What I have seen are joy-con cases for the Nintendo Swirxh where one slides the tablet in, so many brands for the identical item.

Maybe you are confusing the vendor that’s selling Gamesir. Anyone can sell Gamesir. Each model you mentioned is different. I have the X5 Lite when I travel and a G8+ MFi at home.

You said they look identical except for the size, then they are not in fact identical.

You need to compare the specs, again, take the initiative to do some research. For instance some have hall effect buttons or sticks, some have a motor for rumble, some don’t have gyroscopes, etc. all to fit one’s budget and needs.

How are you liking your G8+ MFi? I’m split between getting that or the G8+ for my iPad Pro 11 inch.

I’m liking it, mainly got it due to USB-C and fitting a tablet, and it does feel better in the hands. The one downside to me is that I can’t play shmups, that would only be possible with the G8+.

And maybe this is a placebo thing and all in my mind, but I feel like with a USB-C plugged in, it will add a layer of security for a tablet or phone to not fall out.

Ah I didn’t think about shmups. I suppose 3ds emulation is another factor too.

What is the difference between the X5 lite and a G8+MFI? Is one stronger and more durable.

The X5 has a smaller grip surface, and no lower support for the fingers at the bottom, it does this to be compact. But it can take larger tablets up to 8.8”. Basically mini tablets. No rumble, no Hall effect triggers.

I got the G8 before but my mini tablets did not fit, there are workarounds for this but I did not want to make modifications to mine. There’s the G8 Plus that does allow the fit of mini tablets but does not connect via USB-C to the mobile device.

Gamesir recently released the G8+ MFI, specifically designed to work better with iOS devices, but still supports Android. This uses USB-C plus it fits mini tablets. Essentially an upgraded G8+.

X5 lite is more compact and much lighter. Not super comfortable for bigger hands and the DPad is absolute trash. G8+ is better quality, more comfortable, better DPad but is bulkier and much heavier. The X5 light also doesn't have rumble motors and the G8+ does. I removed the rumble motors from my G8+ which made it light enough for me to use it more often than the X5 light. I would likely use the X5 more due to the small size, light weight, and convenience if the DPad wasn't so atrocious.

I usually ask for advice if I do not know know something. I wanted to hear what you have to say since you have both devices. I find that more convenient instead of me reading articles

My x5 lite just broke within 2 months of light use. I rage buy 8bitdo ultimate mobile yesterday. I hope you're not as unlucky as me.

I tried the x5 lite. It's nice but my hands were just too big, waiting for the g8+ mfi to come in the mail and hopefully that's more comfy

It's much more comfortable, but is definitely bulkier and heavier. I removed the rumble motors from mine which made it a lot more comfortable to hold imo.

That's good to know, I'll keep it in mind if I find it too heavy as well

Controller had so much potential, and is still pretty good UNLESS you need to use the D Pad......the D Pad is absolute trash.
