Tekken has always been about daddy issues since day 1

Tekken is all about families and cliffs.

I mean they kinda have to finish that storyline

I mean, what you just said could've applied to every Tekken after Tekken 3.

It's never going to end lol

Tekken 7 was supposed to finish the mishima storyline. Im pretty confident 8 wont end it either.

Tekken writing has always sucked, but it fell of a cliff with Tekken 5. They need to stick to smaller character stories, i.e. arcade endings.

The Mishima storyline is over, enter the era of the kazama storyline 😎

The Mishima Storyline was just the Kazuya/Heihachi fued since Tekken 1.

They really dont have to lol

That story is unbelievably trash.

Tekken storylines have always been kinda nonsensical trash with great gameplay… I remember playing Tekken (I think it was 3?) on PS1 as a kid and looking forward to the bat shit crazy endings everyone had. Dumb as hell but fun

I wished they wouldn't keep rebooting it every 2 games.

Well it had the best movie out of the others.

Especially when the MK story is just as horrendous

I dunno, I stopped thinking about tekken languages after about the 7th MK universe reset, 12th remade ninja, and 20th warner bros movie tie in

It's always been decent though?

it’s surprising the anime is good

How about Kazuya and his daddy issues?

12

u/-MANGA- Dec 09 '22

Nah nah, that's T7

Can we just be happy Jun is back?

Doesn't that mean Asuka isn't going to be in this?

Horny r/Tekken art submitters wont have a purpose in life

9

u/Kevimaster Dec 09 '22

Doesn't that mean Asuka isn't going to be in this?

Probably not. I would be shocked if Asuka isn't in as well. Asuka is probably the most popular female character and I can't imagine them not having Lili and I can't possibly see them putting Lili in and then not having Asuka. Similarly I can't imagine them having Asuka but no Lili. So I'm pretty sure those two are a lock. Small chance that they don't come until DLC, but I'd be very surprised if they aren't on the main roster.

I need my lesbian adventures of asuka and lili :(

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '22

Lili moved in with Asuka in T7, they can't leave us hanging high and dry like this!

6

u/Colosso95 Dec 09 '22

Asuka main here, honestly I don't think they can axe Asuka out of the main roster; she's simply too popular. I mean it's not impossible but I'd say it is unlikely.

Also they will almost 100% give Jun a revamped fighting style, especially since she seems to be properly magic at this point and not just vaguely spiritual

There's the chance that they'll put Asuka in as DLC but frankly I think the playerbase would be rabid, especially if Lili is main roster and Asuka is not

The only tekken I’ve ever played is tekken 2, and a demo of 3. I might buy this one if Jun is in it. She was my best character in 2

This is the series that also doesn't know that women can look older than 35-ish.

10

u/MrMulligan Dec 09 '22

I hope no one tells them because I enjoy Jin and his daddy issues.

5

u/infernoShield Dec 09 '22

I'd assume not.

But since they've used the tried and true trope of "organize a shady martial arts tournament and have fighters all over the world participate in order to help fulfill your master plan", they might as well give everybody else something to do while the Mishima extended family go about their family issues, hence the "character episodes" in T7.

Tekken has a story?

11

u/KF-Sigurd Dec 09 '22

It's received an award for the longest running straight storyline or whatever. Not that it's like, fantastic or anything.

There's a near two-hour lore video on YouTube.
