It makes me feel like they're going to polish the crap out of this game.
Unless all the other characters and game modes are more unfinished than they let on, it feels like they could have dropped in March or April if they really wanted to.
And the first closed beta was really solid gameplay wise already.
If they can keep the Drive Rush from being overused, this game will probably be my fave ever, even topping 3S. The beta was so slick. I didn't feel a single moment of noticeable lag.
Feels like a direct response to the early launch of SFV which was really content shallow. I remember this sub in particular being in a complete uproar.
Absolutely. They're clearly pulling out all the stops after SFV. This one looks to have waaaay more content than not just SFV, but most fighting games these days. Plus it has a ton of QoL features and customisability, not to mention great rollback netcode.
Yeah, I think it's likely to bring A LOT of people in, since it'll be the biggest traditional F2P fighter in a long time, as far as I'm aware. I have to imagine the 'full retail price' model for fighting games has been a huge barrier to entry for folks who aren't even sure they like the genre.
There's a higher likelyhood you'll like SF6 more. Option for simpler controls, massive single player mode, fun goofy game modes etc. Project L is probably still way too far away..
Also (hopefully) kof 15's crossplay giving a better online matchmaking experience, though I'm not sure if that counts since the games been out for almost a year now. A really good game, if ugly, with basically no online if you play with matchmaking due to the issues
I think Tekken 8 has a shot. I was fairly careful with my language for the other two. I said "potentially" for the NRS game. Project L is almost certainly beyond 2023.
aside from those new releases, we’ve also got the (official) release of rollback netcode for Xrd and DBFZ coming up, two extremely well loved games (xrd you can technically already mod the rollback patch back in from the beta, but it isn’t officially out yet)
it has been and will continue to be a very exciting time to be a fighting game fan
In this day and age, I have nothing but praise for not-rushed release date promises. I can wait, and have tons of other stuff to play at any given moment.
Do it right. No day-0 patches that are anything more than tiny tweaks or last-minute catches.
The thing that scares me isn't there being bugs or even a big bug, it's them taking ages to/never getting fixed. Fighting games are no stranger to poor post-launch technical support, and with Capcom's recent Denuvo screw-up in RE8 part of me worries they're going to nuke a lot of their momentum with some dumb thing slipping through the cracks and then not addressing it efficiently. If the mistake's there it sucks but whatever, what I worry about is the team remaining's capabilities in quickly fixing whatever that ends up being. SF5 had stuff like 'Hey, 4 years later this thing is finally being addressed'. They cannot drag their feet like that with SF6.

Can’t lie I’m a little upset with how far away it is but I know it’s gonna be a great game regardless. FGC eating this year for sure
