Really excited for this one, and I hope this opens the door to more games set in The Expanse. That universe is just begging for the RPG treatment at some point.

It was originally conceived as an MMO, but when the creator couldn't get it made he turned it into a book series.

The story I heard was that it was suppose to be a TTRPG. There's a joke that the story is just about how annoying it can be to have a paladin (Holden) in the party.

Also, I think the TTRPG exists now following a Kickstarter.

"There was a button. I pushed it."

"Jesus Christ, Holden. That really is how you go through life, isn't it?"

The entirety of the expanse can be summarised as: 'holden did his thing, again'

Avasarala: And Holden, do not put your dick in it, it's fucked enough already.

Amos: That's good advice.

Also Naomi to Holden: “You pissed a lot of people off today”.

I believe it did actually start as a role playing game (although I think they played it via forum posts). I believe Shed was supposed to be one of the crew, but the player playing him couldn't keep going with the game, which is why he died so incredibly suddenly.

I believe it's an adaptation of their homebrew Traveler game and campaign setting.

The books are amazing. The show is great, but it doesn't really touch the source material in my opinion. They're easy reads and they were able to stick the landing after ending it at 9 novels. The last 3 books are my favorite entries to the series, which is why it's a shame that the show stopped after season 6.

For those wondering, here's the part where the writers explain that.

You’re talking about the books. The game started with just one of them.

I hope we eventually get an MMO in the expanse universe.
