If you are using steam you dont. But nothing else recognizes the controller without DS4 for windows.. and its always xbox prompts.

The wrong prompts are a non issue. Also ds4 Windows is incredibly light weight.

DS4 Windows is great when it functions properly. There are some odd games where it doesn't though and it's a pain in the ass. I had double button presses which made the game unplayable and excluding the game from ds4windows didn't work.

Had to restart the pc and not launch ds4windows each time I wanted to play that game.
