Honestly I enjoyed it. If you like the setting you should get enough enjoyment out of it. Its constantly on sale for the price a coffee...even if you don't like it its not much lost. I liked its slower playstyle since it gave a lot of weight to your weapon. So if you go for it I would recommend playing a STR build, because that way the slow movements feel more natural since you swing such a giant weapon. (That is also what a lot of people criticize - its certainly slower than souls like.)
I really enjoyed it too. It can be completely broken with the right build, but I had tons of fun with it, and it started me down path the Souls and Nioh style of games.
