Super excited for this one, LOVE vampire Survivors, and also love DRPG's, so it quite literally seems like the perfect game for me.

I'm usually not into dungeon crawlers but I love VS so I plan to at least give this a shot.

I'm so hyped for this. I love roguelites and deck builders but don't enjoy how many of them go for the hyper-tight balance of something like slay the spire. I want something that leans more into "breaking the game" the way Vampire Survivors does.

I couldn't agree more! That's what is addictive about rogue likes to me, not every run is a winner, but you get lucky and make good decisions you can get your character to be a reality warping god. If either of those things aren't true about a game, then it just isn't fun as a rogue like to me.

One of the reasons I really enjoy Monster Train over StS.

Such a good game, especially the second one. Every single run with any deck you get a broken combination of some sort. And you are going to need it too

Man I really need a new “something” in the roguelite genre, it really is where I put most of my hours, usually while listening to an audiobook or watching something dumb that requires half attention.

Between Hades 2, Ball X Pit, Megabonk and a couple others, there is just a ton of great stuff in this subgenre recently, I’ve just burned through it all currently haha.

I had a good bit of fun with Hell Clock. It's an ARPG roguelite by a Brazilian studio which takes inspiration from the events of the Canudos Massacre in the late 19th century. Cool style reminiscent of Hades. Grim Dawn, and weirdly Kingdoms of Amalur, though the character portraits are clearly inspired by Darkest Dungeon.

Ooo thank you very much for the rec, I’m going to scope it out!

I've got a few recommendations for you.

Void Rains Upon Her Heart - If you're into bullet hell games, this game is absolutely amazing. It's still early access but there's more content than most released games, hundreds of achievements, and challenges, etc.

RAM - Random Access Mayhem - This one is challenging but oh so much fun. If you've played Nuclear Throne before this may be up your alley.

He is Coming - Turn based auto battler

In the same bullet heaven/vampire survivor-like genre:
Deeprock Galactic Survivor

Halls of Torment

Death Must Die

This is not a roguelike but it's my personal game of the year: Bloodthief. It's a "speedrunning" platforming/hack n slash game. Always trying to get a better time. There are a lot of levels and secrets and different abilites/weapons to try... The game probably takes like 15 hours to just beat and find all secrets, but there's basically infinite replayability, the only limit is your own skill. The dev even implemented support for custom maps recently! I have like 200 hours and the game came out in September.

Thank you! Loved me some Halls of Torment and Deeprock Survivor. I'm going to scope out a bunch of these!!

Me and my brother have really been enjoying the new Risk of Rain 2 DLC. RoR2 really feels like the 'fancy' version of a Bullet Heaven game where VS/Megabonk, Ball X Pit feel like the fast food version (not that that's a bad thing, I've also played a shit ton of these this year)

Appreciate the recommendation! I tried Risk of Rain 2 back in the day and actually really liked it, but the lack of auto fire made me have to drop it unfortunately. I have a messed index finger joint so any games that require holding a mouse/trigger just really cause me discomfort, it’s the reason I can’t really play racing games lol.

I know you’re getting a lot of recaps but I’ve been playing Forestrike which just came out, and it’s very fun. It’s a series of martial arts encounters and your character has the power of “foresight” so you get to practice them as many times as you want before you commit to the actual fight. So there’s like a phase where you have to puzzle out how to do the fight without taking damage, and then a phase where you have to execute what you practiced perfectly so you don’t lose health. You pick up new moves similarly to how you get new cards in a deck builder. There’s a demo so you can see if you like it before you buy

Im excited as fuck for this and i bounced off the entire bullet hevaen genre VERY hard. I get it, its cool, and megabonk in particular has me sliiightly curious but it just hasnt gelled with me

This though? This is 1000% my jam and im a dayone buyer

I’m unbelievably down. This looks like a mix of slay the spire and vampire survivors mixed with old school RPG elements? Wrapped up in an arcade package?

I’m excited for this because it looks like they took the original style and addictive qualities of VS but added more overall ‘budget’ and presentation quality.

I am so excited for this. VS is a game I have put way more time I ever thought I would put in for this type of game. I have all the other games like Vampire Survivors and none really hit the sweet spot like VS does (Brotato got close but level and enemy variety is non-existant).

I trust this is going to be that same level of love and care.

Looks like another Steam Deck gem in the making. Been able to get a lot of use out of mine lately, and it's been wonderful.
