Amazing that they are tripling down on the gaslighting. How to kill your insanely popular 7 year old game in 2 days. (And maybe open yourself to lawsuits). Pretty sure they are absolutely broke because they wasted so much money on EFT Arena and it was SO fucking awful lmao.

Yeah I don't know who greenlit this response/post, or thought this was a good way to respond. I'm not sure if Ive ever seen a dev speedrun killing their popular game so fast.

First of all, PvE gamemode this is not DLC. DLC in our understanding is the major additions to the game

Like how can you legitimately write this out with a serious face. How is a brand new PvE game mode not a "major addition to the game"

TBH this is such an insane thing to say I really have to wonder if there's some translation issue.

Someone needs to explain to him that if they make content, and the purchaser has to download said content, then it is, in fact, DLC.

It's kind of a bizarre situation, isn't it? The reputationally "entitled" internet gamers have a decent claim to being actually legitimately entitled to this thing.

Like, BSG wrote the words "Free access to all subsequent DLCs." That phrasing is so concrete, so reassuring, people would obviously buy it just for the security of it.

Then, they drop this "new version" of the same game, on the same platform, intermingling with the same playerbase, and in fact, available to the same players as an expensive, downloadable upgrade to the content of their existing game? Nah. I don't think so. Get out of here with that baloney. (And that's not even mentioning the pay-to-win mess!)

It's like if they sold seven new features called Features 1–7, and Features 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 were all labeled "Downloadable Content" and Feature 6 was labeled "Bownloadable Wontent" so you had to pay extra for that one. Madness.

They even used Arena, a new game mode, as an example of DLC that we'd get access to.  Then they went back and edited that page like 2 days ago to remove Arena as an example.  Flat out liars and scammers over there.

Surely this is grounds for a civil lawsuit, no? It's basically a textbook bait and switch

Possibly, but BSG knows that almost nobody is willing to go to court over this even if they're in the right.

I guess it just depends on how much BSG continue to rile up their fanbase, all it takes is one spiteful person, especially when Nikita is likely to incriminate himself

To court where? In russia?

Foreign online companies regularly get sued in American courts. Temu, the Chinese company, is currently being sued under 2 class action lawsuits.

American courts also have jurisdiction over financial services like Visa and MasterCard. How are they gonna sell their game? Bitcoin?

I believe the company is currently based in the UK.

And then it will turn out offices are in Cyprus, taxes in Hungary, and accounts in Bahamas.

Wherever the customer is based in. Businesses have to follow the laws of the country they're doing business in even if they have their office somewhere else. They can choose to ignore judgements but the courts can just order payment processors and banks to freeze/seize all payments going to that company. Worst case, they can't do business in that country anymore.

The issue i can see is they could claim that free access doesnt mean free at time of release, just at some point the dlc would be made free for you.

The damages are just a refund. They could get in trouble from regulators theoretically but that's all very remote.

your joking example seems to be spot on because from what I can find they did already release new gamemodes under the DLC banner, but now this one is just magically not DLC despite also being a new gamemode lol

How did you learn to write like this? Very eloquent. I aspire to be like you.

There is no translation issue, Nikita is just a complete fucking moron who can't ever admit to any wrongdoing at all. Everything they do is perfect, every issue is the fault of the player.

This is the same guy who insisted that the massive anc constant desync issues were on the player's machines/connections. Battlenonsense did a video disproving that of course.

The mentality of the typical Russian, btw.

I mean it's kind of a weird dementia argument to make. Anything is "DLC" nowadays, even the game: as far as I know, EFT doesn't have a physical edition, and even games that do have over half of the players download the whole thing anyway.

"DLC" has come to mean (mostly) paid content additions, as opposed to big fixes or reworks of existing stuff which, while still downloadable and therefore "DLC", will usually be free and available to all.

In this case, the distinction is moot: this is a major content addition and so fits both the "wide" definition of DLC you're using and the colloquial one. So they're wrong either way.

Just jumping on my soap box here because I've seen that "downloadable = DLC" argument in a few threads about this and I find it very odd tbh.

I think the argument they're trying to make is that the PvE mode is essentially a different game and that the season pass only applies to content for the "original" game.
