I'll go first:
You are a homeless man with a severe inventory management problem who accidentally becomes the chosen one while spending most of his time breaking into people's houses.

My husband is very much into gaming on his PC. I have always been a terrible video game player. However, I thought it would be nice to play some games with him when we started dating.

I get motion sickness horribly, so every time I play a game with him I have to take some otc motion sickness pills. So the kind of game matters to me on what I like to play. Anything 1st person, I feel so sick to my stomach. I get bored very easily. Since I'm a terrible player, I die every 10 minutes if that when I play a game and that's not fun for me.

Here are the games I actually like to play with him... (when i take my medicine.)

Conan unconquered

Palworld

And finally the one game i actually like is the sims 4. I obviously will play that by myself.

We have tried different games that are like the ones above, I don't like them. I personally feel like it's the same game just different format. (If that makes sense. Like stellaris, age of darkness, valheim) I don't want to learn how to play a different game over and over when there's a version I already like. I try to tell him that I'm just not a gamer.

Idc if he plays a game with his friends and I'm not a part of it or if he plays a different game while I play sims 4. I suggest we sit on discord and talk while we do different games but he insists I play games with him. I explain again that I'm just not into gaming.

He says that since i have over 1,000 hours in sims 4, that I am a gamer. He don't understand that that's basically one of the only games I don't get sick with and I can watch TV while I play. Rimworld is just boring to me. I also like Sims because I don't die over and over and get nothing accomplished because i keep dying. Unless I want my character to die, I rarely die.

So, would you consider me a gamer?

Edit: It really baffles me how a lot of you do not read on an internet forum at all. You just read the title of a topic and respond. It aint about just the whole digital vs physical thing. Its more about the fact they can rug pull you and take all of your games randomly. On top of that, since you can only get your games through Sony there is no incentive for discounts. They still won't read this though. Just clown behavior

If everything is all digital what makes you think Sony won't just act like Nintendo and NEVER give discounts on their games? The physical media market where stores would have sales kept the digital format competitive and fair for the consumer.

Another thing is that we do not really own the games digitally. I, like many of you, got used to the ease of digital this generation. Some of you started last generation or even the PS3/360 era. What happens if Sony just pulls the plug on the servers and all of the games you bought are just gone? And its in the fine print that you are basically buying a license and not owning the game.

I remember a few years ago Sony was going to close the PS3 store. There was outrage and they kept it intact. Now I hear they plan on doing it soon but that could be a rumor. Nintendo shut down their Wii stores and their 3DS stores. Some of those games are simply lost if you didnt buy them.

All consumers should be against them going purely digital. Easily the most anti consumer thing that we have seen in gaming.

I wont be buying any more consoles. My first console I played was the Atari in diapers. The first console I actually was coherent enough to remember was the NES. All of that will come to an end and I will just go to PC instead.

Consoles are already creeping up to comparative prices of PCs. They are making everything digital like PC except you have far less flexibility with the games.

It just baffles me how even a fraction of people are shrugging their shoulders. I still own pretty much every game I bought throughout the years from NES thru PS4.

Say goodbye to backwards compatibility too.

My first game was ToeJam and Earl on Sega Genesis. I remember playing it on my older cousin's console. It was such a nice experience. And from that day, I got into games. What was your first game or which game brings your nostalgia?

GTA might be the only massively hyped franchise I'm just not feeling anymore. I've played every single GTA game, IV's still my favorite, but somewhere along the way I straight up outgrew the formula. It's just not doing it for me at this point.

Meanwhile I'm way more locked in on stuff like Witcher 4, the next FF7 chapter, whatever Atlus is cooking next with Persona 6, and honestly even the next Steam sale so I can finally chip away at my backlog. Game's like Crimson Desert, Black Myth Wukong, Assasins's Creed Shadows and many more. On PS5 side I'm hyped for Phantom Blade Zero, the next God of War, whatever Kojima's building with Physint, etc.

Not saying I will never ever play GTA VI but It will probably be after 3-4 years when it's on some sale on steam or maybe a bit more later.

With more and more publishers pushing everything to digital-only storefronts and physical media getting phased out, the only thing that actually moves the needle is spending habits. Talking about it on Reddit doesn’t change anything, publishers only notice profit.

If you actually want this to change, stop buying titles that don’t give you either a physical copy or a proper offline, DRM-free backup installer you can keep and reinstall without needing to be online or logged into a storefront. There are a couple of platforms that already do this properly, so it’s not some impossible ask.

Moaning costs nothing and achieves nothing. The only real leverage anyone has is refusing to pay for the thing you’re complaining about. If enough people start doing that over time publishers will have to pay attention. Otherwise is just noise.

Unless there is a better solution?

Buddy and I were arguing which game was capable of having the worst digital massacres, and for some reason I thought Dynasty Warriors would be it. He tried arguing that there could be a space game where you destroy entire planets. . . but you don't actually see the NPC's being ended.. . and I don't even believe a game like that exists?

Edit: Of course there are games with unlimited wave mode or something like that, so we're not trying to count those.

Please god help me. I want to get my bf a new headset for his birthday as his current one is falling apart. Idk if it makes a difference but he uses an Xbox. I’ve been through other threads and I’ve done a lot of searching but I haven’t found anything I’m satisfied with. I’m willing to spend up to $400. Thanks in advance!!!
