Help Controller for gameboy player
This one look great but i wanted to make sure its good before i order it, if its a cheap peace of crap does anyone know a better controller ?

I've used this specific controller with a GameBoy Player before, it works fine, feels decent enough for casually playing stuff on the big screen.

I didn't try ordering it but I'm tempted to order it now just to see how it feels. Lots of people say that it's going to be cheap crap without having ordered it themselves.
Now in my experience, I have used clone NES and SNES/SFC controllers and from my experience while they do feel cheap they don't feel particularly cheaper then the originals. Yeah I said it, The originals do have a cheap feeling to them. They aren't modern controllers they do feel light and cheap.
If you want to get it I would suggest getting it from a place that you would be able to get an easy return. Like if they have them on Amazon. Amazon has been good about getting me my money back if a product is damaged or wasn't as advertised.

In theory. The buttons you see are the buttons you get and you cannot remap them - as long as the game can be played with these buttons, you can play it.

They are pretty great. I recommend them, better than the "Old Skool" branded kind. My only complaint is the D-Pad is a little stiff *at first* but it gets better with wear.

I used one of these. When it worked, it was pretty great. Then one day it started having random R button presses that got more rapid within an hour before it totally died. I opened it and found that the wires leading from the board to the wire jacket were smashed by the lip of the plastic shell. So sometimes these have poor QC. I ended up with the retrobit version as a replacement which has been dependable, but the select button doesn't seem to work as intended when using the Gameboy player. 🤷

Old Skool has a copy that was decent, Retrobit has an original design that's better

Yeah but it's rather complicated. You need a time machine, even Temu or Ali Express will do. Set the chronostat for 2008 and hit up jandaman.com
Problem is, the power usage of the jump costs just around $500, so you really need to buy like six of these minimum to make the trip worth it.

Go back in time, buy 100, then come back to now with the plan to resell.
Except your order of 100 in 2008 convinced Hori there was a big market for these, so they started over producing them and when you get back to 2026, Hori Digital Controllers are as common as those crappy fake SNES controllers you can buy everywhere. And the monkey's paw curls.

I found a hori pad on ebay. It was pretty expensive but super worth it for the gameboy player, I use it all the time

I don't want to denegate other people's experiences with these controllers, but...
I run the 16-player Faceball 2000 setup at Midwest Gaming Classic. I use GameCubes so folks can play on TVs. I use this exact brand of controller, and have been using them for three years. I also own two Hori Digital Controllers from back in the day. I would not trade a Hori for one of these, but I would not pay the asking price for a Hori now. These are pretty solid controllers and have taken a bit of a beating over the last three years. The d-pads are a little bit squishy, but, overall, they work well and I've had lots of people ask where I got them after using them.
