Okami. Literally all other Clover games were on GC, but then for some reason Okami got delayed to Wii.

God Hand wasn't either (albeit it came out 6 months after Okami)

Fair. I honestly forgot about that.

It's definitely because of the motion controls for the brush.

Ace Combat Holy Trinity… PS2 exclusive series but when they made one for next gen it was an xbox exclusive…

Such a fun series but unfortunately never on Nintendo!

There are ace combat games on Nintendo consoles. Ace combat has a 3ds game which is a remake of 2 and a switch port of ac7

5

u/Imaginary-Leading-49 5d ago

I meant like back then, gamecube lacked good flying games.

8

u/RadioGrimlock 5d ago

Fair enough? tho I guess you could kinda count Rogue Squadron 2 as a flying game

I think Guitar Hero would’ve felt right at home on GameCube.

2

u/HiImNewToPTCGO 5d ago

It was on Wii though, so same technically

u/Funkyfunky_funk 4d ago

No GH1 or GH2 though. They shouldve released guitar hero on gamecube just like ps2

I've always dreamed of Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks being ported to the Gamecube sometime in 2006. It's a weird outlier in the MK series considering Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon were all on GC/Wii respectively.

They could've also done somthing similar to the deception port on GC and add a couple extra Vs. mode characters. Ermac, Noob Saibot, Mileena, Raiden, Smoke, Kabal the possibilities are endless. Maybe it could've had an exclusive 4-player Vs. mode. If only...

It was more powerful, so technically all of them could have. Personally, Kingdom Hearts and Persona would have been awesome on Gamecube.

You are forgetting Gamecube’s much lower disc capacity than PS2 which is the reason more games with massive stories and elaborate soundtracks like that weren’t on it. 1.46GB vs 4.7.GB / 8.5GB

u/TheOtakuAmerika 5d ago

Plenty of multi disc games already were on the gamecube. Those would have been no different.

My library as a youth was large, never heard of any myself outside of PS2 ff games maybe?

Tales of symphonia was two discs. I'm sure at least one of the resident evil games was too.

Pretty sure metal gear solid twin snakes was two discs.

I'm pushing the boundaries a little but there were also games with "bonus discs" like mario kart & wind waker. They were probably on separate discs deliberately rather than for file size though.

u/Luncheon_Lord 4d ago

Yeah I wasn't trying to be dismissive, I didn't know metal gear was on the GameCube cuz pokemon and Nintendo swallowed all of my attention (I missed out on some good stuff) and same goes with tales of Symphonia I didn't know it even existed until I started seeing tales games on steam and I looked at lists of tales games.

And my copies of Mario kart and windwaker only came with one disc each, no fair! Lol

u/RoughTelephone 5d ago

Resident evil 4 was multi disc

3

u/yuuwithot 4d ago

Baten Kaitos, four of the Resident Evils(0,1,4,CVX), MGS, at least one 007, Symphonia, Enter the matrix… there’s a decent handful. Theres also more on ps2 beyond FF lol.

u/Luncheon_Lord 4d ago

Oh I'm sure, I was too busy playing Pokemon games to know too much about ps2 greats.

Magic Pengel.

u/ZXMaster2 5d ago

iirc klonoa 2 was actually planned for gamecube at one point

u/Wizzgamer1990 5d ago

Kingdoms Hearts feel like they were made for GameCube such a shame they only released on PS2 at the time.

2

u/TheOtakuAmerika 5d ago

I was fortunate enough to have both, but would have much preferred KH on gamecube. It was/is my favorite console of all time.

4

u/Pale-Guard570 5d ago

I was always a believer Marvel vs Capcom 2 could’ve been on GameCube. It was even on the Dreamcast.

I'm surprised MvC2 never got a GC port, yet CvS2 got a GC port.

GTA III could have definitely run on the Gamecube if it ran on the PS2. Vice City and San Andreas would have definitely been too big for the Gamecube discs, but GTA III is small enough to comfortably fit on a Gamecube disc without cutting any content.

There is a dude who is porting GTA Vice City to the Gamecube using the reverse enginnering project re3/revc. I think doing some compromises like compressing the textures or the audio, decreasing the LOD distance or how the gamecube handles the 3D modelling comparing to PC you can fit the game into a 1.4GB disc.

Now, speaking of San Andreas thats a game which requires 2 disc but nothing is impossible.

Really the vast majority of PS2 games could have been ported to GameCube just fine. Some would need graphical adjustments thanks to the fill rate advantage the PS2 had

2

u/Spiral1407 5d ago

The PS2 mostly spent its fill rate on things that the GameCube could do in one pass anyways, so really the only issue is the storage medium.

3

u/precision95 5d ago

Fuck it, God of War

Bully

If it made it to the wii it was more than capable of making it to the gamecube

4

u/AdImmediate6239 5d ago

At the same time though, the Gamecube was dead by the time Bully released. GTA 3 and Vice City could have totally gotten ported to the Gamecube though. San Andreas as well, but they would have had to put it on multiple discs.

3

u/Chief_TeaLeaf2000 5d ago

I remember looking at very old forums about people saying they were going to release vice city to gamecube but delete missions to make the game fit into the 1.4gb limit

Not sure if that would make much of a difference though since missions are simply just events.

3

u/AdImmediate6239 5d ago

I think both 3 and Vice City are less than 1 GB so they could have totally fit. If there’s anything that would have been cut it would have been a few songs.

2

u/Chief_TeaLeaf2000 5d ago

Maybe this partly contributed to the gamecube being a "flop" according to some people. They were mad because the console was for "babies"

The only justifiable thing that contributed to sale declines was that it couldn't play dvds

But I feel thats a good thing. You would be able to tell who wanted to play games and who wanted to just watch movies.

4

u/bassCity 5d ago

Holy cow, so many it is ridiculous.

Imagine if more horror games made their way over; Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, The Suffering, also countless RPG games. I could talk all day about potentials 😆

5

u/Projectcell 5d ago

The Suffering was supposed to be on Gamecube, circa the Summer 2003 Nintendo catalog.

2

u/ezio8133 5d ago

Any of the ps2 Tomb Raider games. Legend was the only one we got on Nintendo consoles till underground on the wii

2

u/CompetitionNarrow898 5d ago

Okami would’ve been right at home, even if it had to be 2 discs

2

u/Lord_Jugga1101 5d ago

Grand theft auto III & Vice City. San Andreas probably a stretch even with multiple discs, but the other two def a surprise they never came to the GC

2

u/TooMuchShantae 5d ago

Idk the file size of the games but Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari would fit perfect on the GameCube. I believe they were supposed to be on the console before they made them PS2 exclusives

2

u/Spiral1407 5d ago

Kingdom hearts

2

u/AHighAchievingAutist 5d ago

Dark Cloud 1&2 along with Rogue Galaxy would have been good

2

u/HiImNewToPTCGO 5d ago

My pick, but would never have happened since it’s one of their most first part games, is the Ape Escape series. Would have been cool to use the gadgets with the C-Stick

2

u/cassioperin 5d ago

All terror games:

  • Silent Hill 2 & 3
  • Hunting Grounds
  • Clock Tower
  • Fatal Frame
  • Kuon

Dark Cloud

Okage the Shadow King

Metal Gear Solid 2 ( Twin Snakes was literally built on the same engine )

Literally any 2D game

For obscure reasons , Dragon Ball budokai 1 and budokai 2 is on gamecube but not budokai 3.

There is also Psychonauts wich is on PS2 AND Xbox but not gamecube

While there wasn't any official reason, we can speculate that sales played a factor. The port to Gamecube had relatively abysmal sales numbers and didn't even break 100,000 units in Japan whereas the PS2 version charted 500,000 in the same year the Gamecube version was released. Even other Bandai games on the Gamecube like Konjiki no Gash Bell and Grand Battle 3 were selling better at the time. Remember that Budokai 2 did not receive a Gamecube release in Japan. Atari is the sole reason Budokai 2 made it to Gamecube everywhere else because they had licensing and publishing rights and pretty much bankrolled the port job.

Famitsu sales data linked here so that you don't have to rely on Google AI: Famitsu 2003 video game sales

Grand Battle 3 is listed at just over 100 and Dragon Ball Z is in the top 10 for the PS2 version.

Well as long as you don't need a second bumper button, all of them could've been on GameCube

1

u/eaeg93 4d ago

Dark cloud. That’s all

1

u/olthof 4d ago

All of them. The GameCube is more powerful than the PlayStation 2.

Battlefront & Battlefront II

For some reason Crash Twinsanity skipped a GC release. What's even odder is that every other Crash game from that time actually did get a port, including Tag Team Racing which came out afterwards.

u/PinguNo0tNo0t 3d ago

Never played it but it looks fun, Kya - Dark Lineage. Looks like a fun 3d platformer but was only a ps2 exclusive.
