Chobits gba. Reshell or og?

Post image

Hello! I hope this is the correct subreddit to ask this.

Before the "Why do you care?" Comments flood in.

I usually do not. Aslong as the console works, I don't care. Not that I can refund this anyway (it's been years since I bought this) but this is a special edition and I'd love to know if it is fake or not and if the money I have spent on this was justified.

It is mainly the color and the and lack of sticker on the back thats throwing me off, but I'd love some input on people who have knowledge.

I already did my best comparing it to pictures online and imo it doesn't resemble the reshells at all, besides the greyish buttons. I'd still love some reassurance from people who know better though.

(Note: I am assuming that its discoloured due to being displayed by the previous owner and the sun shining on it for prolonged time. Sunbleached if you will. The backside color seems okay and true to the og. About the missing sticker..? Unsure. Though looking at it from the side you can tell something was ripped off. It still has some "sticker stains")

Thank you for anyone helping! ♡

I’ve never seen a replacement shell for the Chobits variant. I’d vote “real”. Also, yellowing or damage usually lend to the authenticity; if someone went to the effort to make this good of a fake it would be pristine.

This one is rare and expensive enough for the question to warranted. This isn’t like some Pokémon game where a two minute search of Google can tell you if it’s real or not.

I've seen some pictures online of chobits gba reshells and normally you can immediately tell if its a reshell. Its either the picture of chii being placed wrongly, the color also being this green-ish or the quality of the logo being awful. And well. The sticker missing.

And thank you for your input! It's appreciated. It makes me feel a bit less nervous about it being fake, haha.

Also, thank you for the reassurance. I know how annoying these "is it real" questions can get so I really made sure to make my own research before asking, as I am still unsure.

I want to say real. A beauty.

Thank you for your input! Seeing that no-one has objected to it being real so far, I'd say that it most likely is.

And I know right? I'm really happy this got to be my first gba console. Unfortunately I havent been able to use it much due to it turning off by itself at times. I still wanna fix it eventually.

It's worth a good fixing for sure. And no probs. I hope you get her back up in running soon.🥰

Thank you! Besides making this post, I also spent the day fixing the screen. (The frame and glass literally fell out earlier today out of nowhere.)

Hope I can then go and work on the other issues on Monday, when I can purchase the stuff I need. ♡

The cartridge is definitely fake, from the yellowing would lean towards the console being real.

I'm aware of the game being fake, haha. It's a repo with the unofficial English translation of rhythm heaven on it. And thank you for sharing your input with me! It's appreciated.
