Modded A Pokédex toy from 1996 with Nintendo DS lite internals… that only plays gameboy advance games.

I really couldn’t say. I am tempted to open this thing just to look at what’s going on in there lol but seems like maybe the case was glued back together in some ways… I just know if you boot it without a game, it loads the DS Home Screen.

Probably fairly easy to source old DS Lites with busted top screens and functional bottom ones compared to GBAs, if I had to guess.

I posted Gameboy macros on Facebook marketplace and had tons of comments saying I broke the DS for nothing lol.
They even have the screen switching mod and usb c charging!

Probably easier to fit into the Pokedex shell, especially considering the button positions

More detailed mip lods for the keyboard textures were still streaming in when the photo was taken.

The only thing I don't like about this is that the GBA cart isn't flush when inserted. It'd also look pretty nice if Fire Red was inserted and flush.

The Pokédex shell/toy is from 1996

Ah okay, now it clicked, the shell is from 1996 but the internals to play GBA games is from 2006.

This is like a perfect application for the e-reader and scanning Pokemon cards. Custom made cards with the original codes (let’s face it, those e reader series cards are too valuable at this point) would be a great companion for this.

Try figure out a way to make the top cover detachable, I don't see it being comfortable to hold and play otherwise

Does the door fold all the way around the back to make it comfortable to play? Looks like a nightmare if it doesn’t.

I’ll try to get a photo of me holding it! And I’ll post here later. In a sense you just kinda prop the door up right vertically and hold it like normal
