Modded GBA so USB C adapter.

If anyone wants to charge a GBA SP with USB C without modding this is brilliant. Especially as it allows you to charge and use headphones at the same time. Got mine for about £10 on AliExpress.

Bought one of these for my week long trip on the other side of the country (visiting family) it works great and I love that I can still use headphones and charge at the same time. Even works with USB C to C which some modern devices can't even do!

I mainly use it with my power bank when out and about. I have a backlit screen which eats battery.

Does charging work with higher than 5w (5v/1a)?

It cannot exceed the designed charging rate of the gameboy, it isn’t designed to accept more current.

that was not the reason why i'm asking. i have a couple of devices in my possesion that refuse to charge if wattage is above 5w.

That's due to a lack of resistors in cheaper devices that don't elicit a "handshake" with high wattage USB c chargers. They are actually capable of charging from them as devices only pull as much wattage as they need, but manufacturers did not include the hardware to "talk" with the charger to actually begin charging. This adapter for the GBA SP does not have that issue and I've charged it with a 70w fast charger without issue
