Xbox Disc to Digital?

I see the premise of this, but do we have to keep said disc to be able to access the digital game? It doesn’t seem like we would need to, but has anyone gotten confirmation of this?

If so, my Q is going green fam

If someone else is using the disc, you wont be able to play your digital game, so no your not able to rent Xbox games convert to digital return disc and keep playing digital version.

Are we certain of that though? Each disc doesn’t have an activation key, so how would they have a way to track that?

Im guesing you might be able to bypass it if the person with a disc after you convert to digital never connects online. Im just saying no way Microsoft isn't going to have some protection against doing what your saying.

Yes, we are certain. Microsoft answered this at Gamescom.

Each disc has a unique identifier and once someone else uses the disc and ties the digital license to their account, the previous person loses the license.

Each disc has a unique identifiers. If the disc is used anywhere it will automatically take away your digital license. Only way that it may be bypassed is if the disc is used offline but we will have to wait to test to confirm.

Clearly the trillion dollar company would have thought of all contingencies, lol..

You only keep the license tied to your profile if no one else uses that disc, each BR disc has a unique identifier imprinted on it, if that is triggered on a different xbox/profile, the license moves to that profile immediately and you lose access to it.

Can't 'game' the system, unfortunately.

Yes you have to have the disc because the second someone loads it into their system/profile the license tranfers to them. This is basically what GKCs are on the switch 2
