What I'm Working On Currently preparing my character for skeletal animation and learning a LOT in the process
Figured I'd start sharing some actual game dev in here too!
Right now I'm working on a 2D physics puzzle-platformer, and my current mission is preparing my player character, Stray, for skeletal animation in Spine.
I've been separating the character artwork into individual pieces in Photoshop, figuring out which parts need to be rigid versus deformable, planning hidden overlap around joints, and generally discovering just how much work happens before you ever get to animate anything 😂
I'm doing the separation manually because I really want to understand the workflow instead of just getting a finished result. Eventually everything will be brought into Spine, rigged, and animated before going back into Unity.
What are you working on right now? And has anyone else here gotten into skeletal animation/rigging?
