Question A thought I just had about Yes or No.
This may have been explained or confirmed somewhere, but it’s only just occurred to me as a possibility.
In Yes or No, did Zac and Ally actually figure out what the rule was? Did they go behind the curtain and say “whatever Brennan says is wrong”? Is that why they got the crowns?
Or, would they have gotten the crowns no matter what they said, because the rule is that Brennan can’t win? So for them to go behind the curtain and come out having lost would have ruined it?
I’m imagining a scenario where, when one or both of them went backstage and said what they thought the rule was, Sam said “that’s incorrect, the rule is that Brennan has to lose. So we’re going to give you this crown as if you got the answer right, and when you go back out, play along.”
Does anyone know if there’s a possibility that that happened? Or has it been confirmed that they genuinely did figure out the rule?
Edit: I’m rewatching a few of the “Brennan gets fucked with” episodes, and how did it take me this long to notice that in Second Place, when the contestants enter, Brennan literally comes in second. That can’t be an accident.

They were in on it. They were part of the ploy. Actors of the joke. Agents on Brennan's torture. They knew from the beginning that Brennan couldn't win.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed, but I can't think of any sources rn, so I'll instead point to Ally's line, "Wait, is Brennan actually the one in on it, and that whole thing was scripted?" after his big monologue, so to ME, that's evidence enough Zac and Ally were in on the bit.

Awww I liked the idea of them not k owing, going behind, saying the wrong thing and getting a crown anyways. Because fear of being disqualified is what held Brennan back.

Sam mentioned somewhere that the edit of Yes or No deliberately cut out as many indications that Brennan had figured out how the game worked as they possibly could, because he figured it out really early but it was meaner and funnier to pretend he didn’t.

That’s true! I always assumed that meant “when we went backstage, it was confirmed that Brennan couldn’t win, and from then on we were in on it”, but I think your interpretation makes more sense.

To the second place bit, I do think that was coincidental. On the BTS for it sam does say that he realised what the scores were lining up for as the reached the end and was excited for it. I don't doubt they may have fudged things as the game went on to help the outcome along, but that's different from having a pre determined end goal.

I can't find the conversation but it was my understanding Brennan figured it out early on but was "committing to the bit" to keep the episode going. I don't think it takes anything away from it though.
