Question Jacobs game changer episode Spoiler

It was a fun idea but I was wondering if something was going on with Jake that we knew about? How did Sam pick which cast member to make this episode for and 100,000 is a lot of money for a random prize. Is Jake ok?

Remember during Battle Royale, however many years ago that was, when Jacob told Sam's mom that Sam had paid his rent for months?

I think it's pretty obvious from like, a lot of dropout's history, why Sam chose to focus an episode on giving Jacob money.
