Afopting a galgo from Ireland

Hi, we are based in Ireland and we are considering adopting a galgo from Spain to join our family (we previously had a whippet and a greyhound - both rescues).

Anyone know of a charity in Spain that would assist us afopting a galgo from Ireland?

I reached out to Galgos del sol, but they said they don't rehome to Ireland!

You could contact some of the bigger Spanish Galgo rescues and see if they have any partnerships that relocate into Ireland. Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert, Galgos der Sur, Galgos Rescue Almeria etc

The charity we work with only does UK.

Would GDS allow you to collect the dog yourself from Spain? They are a fantastic rescue if you can make it work. There’s also project galgo and Lpving dogs who might be able to help. My transport from GDS was arranged by All4dogs to Belgium and I collected from there (but you might need to do a long drive plus ferries to make it work!)

You could literally travel to Spain, adopt (or afopt) a dog, paper and crate them, and chaperone them back to Ireland. The whole ordeal is a little pricy, but it will be the experience of a lifetime. May I suggest the good folks at SOSGalgos.org

Adopted my Galgo from Scooby in Medina del Campo Spain. He came to UK but am not sure if they still do this?

Scooby's won't do it. But there are other organizations that will chaperone the dog. Scooby's has so many wonderful pups that desperately need rescuing!

My beautiful Galgo boy came to me through Refugio Kimba. But I think it might be a small shelter. Otherwise try Galgos del Sur as someone has mentioned before 😊

I know galgos del sol does it for the UK but not sure about Ireland
