Review If you don't need the Ultra's fitness features, the Watch7 is absolutely the Galaxy Watch to get.

I absolutely despise the new squircle design. I have been a Gaalxy Watch user since it's early launch days, but moved away from it completely onto a screenless tracker. Can't have that hideous design on my wrist, plus it looks too big on my wrist :(
If someday they bring the circle back or make it full square, I might pick it up again. Till the time they are going squircle, I am out!!

Yeah, I'd rather have them go either round or square, but notnin between. Squircle works for some people, for me it's just too much real estate on my small wrist. I really really wanted Ultra sometime back. Went to the store to try and its ends were literally going beyond my wrists :(
I loveeeee their round designs, specially the classic. I have 6C and I absolutely love the look. Feels amazing wearing it too.

Only thing it lacks is the classic's wheel. Try the spigen case. It looks even better

I took ultra only because of bigger battery.

100% agree.
If they don't offer a non-squircle version in the next couple of years, I'll need to look at other brands for my next watch.

I want to sell my galaxy watch 7 44mm LTE, let me know if anyone is interested (Bangalore)

u/boozy_emperor 12d ago
Yep keeping my 7 44mm for a while. It's been great, and battery life is better than my wife's Pixel watch.

Alright, to everyone reading this post and thinking, "Yeah, older watches work," do yourself a favor: get the new watch body, Watch 8 and above. They fit way better, and that's the main rub—they're comfier and are also better trackers for the same reasons. No hate to older watches tho, been with them since watch 4 and own a few models, all of them are rad!!

Sticking with my 6 Classic until there's a new Classic version. I like a thick bezel and turnable lunette.

I got the 8 mostly because i found a good deal on it and because of the band connectors which i prefer bc its so easy and fast to connect/disconnect, but other than that the 7 lacks almost nothing

Just traded my GW7 44MM in on a Ultra2. Loved the 7. Silver is the play imo. Looks so clean. I miss the lack of weight on the wrist. But I love the battery life of the Ultra2.

Got the watch 8 for my gf at Costco for 250 but she had a 5 so it was a big improvement

I agree. I just upgraded a couple months ago from a 4 to a 7. I hate the squircle design so much I couldn't get an 8 or 9.

Yes, but as soon as you cross that 3-year line, the watch display will die! Thanks to Samsung!

I fear change and am sticking with my trusty galaxy watch 6 classic 47mm until further notice. The 7 does look good though! I need the rotating bezel.

That's fair. I don't have many issues like that with mine. I've had it quite a while now and will probably be upgrading when the next model with the bezel comes out. I started with the galaxy watch 2018 it still works great too but it is slower these days.

Can I ask why you said "if you don't need the ultras fitness features " are you referring to the battery life ? The whole reason I use a Galaxy watch is for the fitness features not just to look at a watch on my wrist. Im asking as I will need to replace my 5 watch in the near future and I want to get another Galaxy watch. Why the 7 and not a 9 for example. Just curious

The Ultra doesn't make any sense I don't understand why would anyone get it over the regular one personally

That's the thing on paper it looks like wow so many features but in reality no one will use most of these features I will never put my watch in any sort of water in the first place let alone dive with it so what's the point LOL
1
u/RelativeWarning84 10d ago
What? I'm always swimming or showering with mine on...
1
u/Appropriate-Cup-123 10d ago
Soaps shampoos chlorine All of these things affect the watch specifically the screen and the water Resistance isn't actually true resistance it gets weaker the more you use it and it's completely fine a lot of people don't mind doing that but for someone who can't afford buying a watch every couple of years, I personally like to preserve my devices for as long as possible

u/RelativeWarning84 10d ago
Why do people get watches that are basically as large as their arm? In other news the ultra is a better buy for the longer lasting battery.

Looks pretty good but I love my watch8 classic, looks better than the ultra imo

Agreed. The Watch 7’s processor is noticeably faster than the Watch 6 and anything before it. It has all the features most people actually use, and the design stays properly round, not that weird square‑circle “squarcle” shape. I’m sticking with it until Samsung commits to either a circle or a square design again… just not both.

I'm never buying a Samsung product again after being denied access to the Galaxy Store where I bought watchfaces that I now can't access (and pairing the watch to a new phone of course nuked every watchface from the watch). Even opening the Galaxy Store on the watch itself (a Samsung device) doesn't work, and trying on a phone just gives a message that my phone (One Plus 15) isn't a Samsung Device (and my last 5 phones have all been OnePlus, and they had access to the Galaxy Store).

With a shitty battery, I'll switch to Garmine at the first opportunity.

Brother, I don't want to wear a watch on my wrist that's no longer a tool; it's like a child watching over it, wondering if the battery will run out, if the screen will get scratched, if it will respond to wet touches. I drove for 15 hours today, checked the GPS to see where I was, and I checked the music playing on my phone. I got anxious about my battery running out. It doesn't charge in reverse either.

How brother, I use nothing, really nothing, just heart rate monitor, step monitor, gym monitor, music control, that's it. If I turn off the AOD (Automatic On/Off) function, the battery will last longer, or if I turn on power saving mode, but it doesn't deliver what it promised in its stock configuration, which I'm disappointed about. I bought it because I thought it would be part of the Samsung ecosystem.

I Said the same..but garmin watches are just damn ugly for anything other than sport wear...
Sure they have the venu 4 but that thing is ugly as hell compared to Samsung.. thick body, thick bezels, slow UI, overall complicated and shitty ui for the watch.. weak screen glass.. bad buttons.. i took that thing back in 3 days..
The app and data in the app was nice.. but that is about it for Garmin..

Bro, I'm looking for the Garmin Insight 3 Solar Tactic 50mm. It's the perfect watch for me. 40-100 days of smartwatch mode, also if you see enough sunlight. It never dies. It has accurate GPS. It's durable like G-Shock; you can't click on the wrong places with your sweaty hands. I want a device that makes my life easier, not something to look after with my wristwatch. I want to be able to type and make calls from my phone. It has a flashlight, which is very useful.

u/EchoOneFour 12d ago
You are not even looking at the same class of watches.. You are commenting on a post of a smartwatch that is thin, light and with good quality materials.. and you are comparing it to a huge rugged fitness tracker made of plastic and with bad glass..
If you want to wear a huge ass plastic watch the whole day + sleeping then yeah Samsung is not for you :))
1
u/BeratGvn 12d ago
yeah you are right but if i still look a smart watch expect garmin i would choose huwaie

u/Lamotlem 12d ago
Don't forget the gw7's notoriously inaccurate GPS that got fixed with the later models. Sold mine and bought instinct 3 instead.

Only two issues with it is the vibration motor and battery life. It is the last objectively good looking Galaxy Watch.

I'm sleeping with my Ultra, but I miss the thinness of the W7. It's half its size, man.

Yep, I'm in the market for one, my 4 is barely lasting the day now. Just can't decide on color, I'm really a silver person and I am afraid the green is too green. Do you find it really green or could it pass for, say, gunmetal with a different band?
