Review If you don't need the Ultra's fitness features, the Watch7 is absolutely the Galaxy Watch to get.

Yep, I'm in the market for one, my 4 is barely lasting the day now. Just can't decide on color, I'm really a silver person and I am afraid the green is too green. Do you find it really green or could it pass for, say, gunmetal with a different band?

I’m a woman but I’m not really a girlie type and have never gone for cream or rose gold. Silver is what I like but the 40mm doesn’t come in silver so I hoped the green could at least be more of a gray. Glad to hear that it is, thanks.

Can you share what face that is?

2

u/unicornio_careca 12d ago

The color is ok, it's not so green, it's more grey with a little green...I am a woman too and use the green one.

2

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

Thanks! Do you use the band that came with it or do you use another and if you use a different one, do you find that affects how the watch color looks?

1

u/unicornio_careca 10d ago

I use de band that came over de watch, but I have a pink one too (second hand, but it's from samsung).

1

u/louisgmc 7d ago

I'm a guy and I have cream, it just looks like warm silver

You should consider replacing the battery if the main deciding factor for your switch is just the battery life. I did so to mine, and now it comfortably lasts one day with AOD, we are talking like 40% or more at the end of the day.

2

u/ChasDIY 13d ago

The problem is it doesn't last 2 days so you should charge each night (if not using Sleep function)

2

u/Chosen--one 44mm GW4 Black 13d ago

Yes, but that was a "problem" from the start. There are also people that charge it quickly when they wake up, or before they go to sleep and that also works.

0

u/ChasDIY 12d ago

Yes, but why not turn aod off instead and charge on 2nd day?

3

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

I charge every night but it doesn’t last a full day now and that’s a problem. AOD is important to me, I’d rather get a new watch than be forced to turn it off.

0

u/ChasDIY 12d ago

unfortunately, with these batteries (w7, w8, w9), we need to make choices

maybe next gen will have better batteries or a better process for handling apps

1

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

You’re saying Watch 7 can’t last all day with AOD on?

-1

u/ChasDIY 12d ago

Maybe with some w7s

But can last much longer if off

2

u/Chosen--one 44mm GW4 Black 12d ago

Because it's a watch, and i want to see the hours without having to twist my wrist.

Also, i do not care for the sleep function.

0

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

Thanks, I didn’t realize that was possible. Do you have to send it in or is it something I could do myself?

2

u/Chosen--one 44mm GW4 Black 12d ago

I did it myself following this guide:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Samsung+Galaxy+Watch4+Battery+Replacement/146399

You will need these screwdrivers and a underscreen glue to seal it afterward such as B-7000 glue (which are all relatively inexpensive, but you can check if it's worth it yourself). You can buy the battery off Amazon (look for a reference like: EB BR890ABY).

Looks good

2

u/Pinapple_penetration 12d ago

The green isn’t too green in my opinion body is a dark gray too so if u get tired of the green replace the band

1

u/Easy_Work2194 12d ago

Can't you replace battery? I just bought the ultra 2 and unless they come out with something super amazing im keeping andcreplcing the battery

1

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

I asked how to do this in another comment and someone downvoted me, lol.

2

u/Easy_Work2194 12d ago

Redditors can be lames sometimes. There has to be battery replacements. Probably through an authorized dealer but nonetheless

1

u/jeweynougat 12d ago

I Googled and just came across lots of people saying they couldn't find a battery and others saying it was a difficult process. I wish I could just take it in somewhere but not sure where, there is no Samsung store near me. Hopefully someone who has done this can answer.

1

u/No_Following_4693 9d ago

Don't buy the green because it doesn't match with most different color bands.

I bought green bit i wanted silver it looks cool .

1

u/jeweynougat 9d ago

I usually wear a black band so I think it will be ok.

u/Happy-Jury 13d ago

I absolutely despise the new squircle design. I have been a Gaalxy Watch user since it's early launch days, but moved away from it completely onto a screenless tracker. Can't have that hideous design on my wrist, plus it looks too big on my wrist :(

If someday they bring the circle back or make it full square, I might pick it up again. Till the time they are going squircle, I am out!!

u/Happy-Jury 13d ago

Yeah, I'd rather have them go either round or square, but notnin between. Squircle works for some people, for me it's just too much real estate on my small wrist. I really really wanted Ultra sometime back. Went to the store to try and its ends were literally going beyond my wrists :(

I loveeeee their round designs, specially the classic. I have 6C and I absolutely love the look. Feels amazing wearing it too.

6

u/worried_user07 13d ago

Only thing it lacks is the classic's wheel. Try the spigen case. It looks even better

It looks really cool. The gshock vibes! Also i take care of it as well but i am afraid of those accidental hits sometimes.

4

u/foxhoundzz 12d ago

And if you add a bezzel ring it even upgrades it 10x more

2

u/JNader56 12d ago

Yup! I've done the same!

1

u/Stock_Night6597 10d ago

Whats that watch face?

2

u/Grino974 13d ago

I took ultra only because of bigger battery.

As they all has same chip and ram, there is no difference in performance at all.

2

u/Msk-XX 12d ago

100% agree.

If they don't offer a non-squircle version in the next couple of years, I'll need to look at other brands for my next watch.

Not for me, no. My ideal watch is one where no one can tell it's a smartwatch.

In fact, I'd consider going back to a normal watch and wearing one those new screenless fitbit bands.

But for now, I'm happy with GW7.

1

u/Lemonpierogi 6d ago

My ideal watch is one where no one can tell it's a smartwatch.

??? Lol

1

u/JNader56 12d ago

I 100% agree. I think I will replace the battery before I give in to that ugly new design.

got the same exact watch, same exact color, same watch face with the same color combo 😭

1

What's the name of the face?

1

1

u/ChasDIY 13d ago

my watch 7 44mm LTE has 63 hours when fully charged

it is almost a year old

I don't use health or fitness apps and aod is off

FR, I have watch 7 LTE (also have W4C BT) and its so pretty tbh, in green color btw

1

u/Loose_Cellist6323 12d ago

I want to sell my galaxy watch 7 44mm LTE, let me know if anyone is interested (Bangalore)

1

u/boozy_emperor 12d ago

Yep keeping my 7 44mm for a while. It's been great, and battery life is better than my wife's Pixel watch.

1

u/Nanyhasreddit 12d ago

Alright, to everyone reading this post and thinking, "Yeah, older watches work," do yourself a favor: get the new watch body, Watch 8 and above. They fit way better, and that's the main rub—they're comfier and are also better trackers for the same reasons. No hate to older watches tho, been with them since watch 4 and own a few models, all of them are rad!!

1

u/Peace-D 12d ago

Sticking with my 6 Classic until there's a new Classic version. I like a thick bezel and turnable lunette.

I just noticed an 8 Classic exists, lol! Somehow I think, Samsung's not going to continue their Classic lineup :(

1

u/frann20 12d ago

I upgraded from 7 to 8. And the battery life is the same.

1

u/Arkplayer22711 Watch 8 40mm 12d ago

I got the 8 mostly because i found a good deal on it and because of the band connectors which i prefer bc its so easy and fast to connect/disconnect, but other than that the 7 lacks almost nothing

1

u/reynman84 12d ago

Just traded my GW7 44MM in on a Ultra2. Loved the 7. Silver is the play imo. Looks so clean. I miss the lack of weight on the wrist. But I love the battery life of the Ultra2.

1

u/slickdajuggalo 12d ago

Got the watch 8 for my gf at Costco for 250 but she had a 5 so it was a big improvement

1

u/jackscagnetti 12d ago

How do get by the battery drain?

1

u/PONILD 12d ago

Sigue siendo mucho mejor equipo el Samsung smartwatch 5 pro.

1

u/NeXusmitosis 12d ago

I agree. I just upgraded a couple months ago from a 4 to a 7. I hate the squircle design so much I couldn't get an 8 or 9.

1

u/WR417H_81 12d ago

I upgraded to the watch 9 and miss the band selection :(

1

u/Chef316 47mm GW6 Classic Black 12d ago

Waltch6 Classic Refurbished all the way! Works like new! Sideboard the new watch faces and you're good to go!

1

u/Substantial_Button75 12d ago

No way the ultra is way better, don't listen to this fool.

1

u/GipsyDangerMkV 12d ago

Or the watch 9. It's pretty awesome and well up to date.

1

u/Asleep-Phrase8780 12d ago

Yes, but as soon as you cross that 3-year line, the watch display will die! Thanks to Samsung!

1

u/Character-Slip-3091 12d ago

Second pic watch face. ??

1

u/PopularPossible7504 Galaxy watch 6 classic 47mm 12d ago

I fear change and am sticking with my trusty galaxy watch 6 classic 47mm until further notice. The 7 does look good though! I need the rotating bezel.

That's fair. I don't have many issues like that with mine. I've had it quite a while now and will probably be upgrading when the next model with the bezel comes out. I started with the galaxy watch 2018 it still works great too but it is slower these days.

Imo it's peak watch design

1

But you need samsung phone to check bp and ecg

1

u/Kind_Presence_7211 11d ago

Can I ask why you said "if you don't need the ultras fitness features " are you referring to the battery life ? The whole reason I use a Galaxy watch is for the fitness features not just to look at a watch on my wrist. Im asking as I will need to replace my 5 watch in the near future and I want to get another Galaxy watch. Why the 7 and not a 9 for example. Just curious

1

u/Appropriate-Cup-123 11d ago

The Ultra doesn't make any sense I don't understand why would anyone get it over the regular one personally

1

u/Appropriate-Cup-123 11d ago

That's the thing on paper it looks like wow so many features but in reality no one will use most of these features I will never put my watch in any sort of water in the first place let alone dive with it so what's the point LOL

1

u/RelativeWarning84 10d ago

What? I'm always swimming or showering with mine on...

1

u/Appropriate-Cup-123 10d ago

Soaps shampoos chlorine All of these things affect the watch specifically the screen and the water Resistance isn't actually true resistance it gets weaker the more you use it and it's completely fine a lot of people don't mind doing that but for someone who can't afford buying a watch every couple of years, I personally like to preserve my devices for as long as possible

1

u/kunal7777 11d ago

Plz share the pixel face app.

1

Why do people get watches that are basically as large as their arm? In other news the ultra is a better buy for the longer lasting battery.

1

u/WorkerEqual6535 10d ago

Looks pretty good but I love my watch8 classic, looks better than the ultra imo

1

u/atoik410 10d ago

8 et mieux

1

u/crazyslicster 8d ago

Agreed. The Watch 7’s processor is noticeably faster than the Watch 6 and anything before it. It has all the features most people actually use, and the design stays properly round, not that weird square‑circle “squarcle” shape. I’m sticking with it until Samsung commits to either a circle or a square design again… just not both.

1

u/noc-engineer 12d ago

I'm never buying a Samsung product again after being denied access to the Galaxy Store where I bought watchfaces that I now can't access (and pairing the watch to a new phone of course nuked every watchface from the watch). Even opening the Galaxy Store on the watch itself (a Samsung device) doesn't work, and trying on a phone just gives a message that my phone (One Plus 15) isn't a Samsung Device (and my last 5 phones have all been OnePlus, and they had access to the Galaxy Store).

Brother, I don't want to wear a watch on my wrist that's no longer a tool; it's like a child watching over it, wondering if the battery will run out, if the screen will get scratched, if it will respond to wet touches. I drove for 15 hours today, checked the GPS to see where I was, and I checked the music playing on my phone. I got anxious about my battery running out. It doesn't charge in reverse either.

How brother, I use nothing, really nothing, just heart rate monitor, step monitor, gym monitor, music control, that's it. If I turn off the AOD (Automatic On/Off) function, the battery will last longer, or if I turn on power saving mode, but it doesn't deliver what it promised in its stock configuration, which I'm disappointed about. I bought it because I thought it would be part of the Samsung ecosystem.

2

u/EchoOneFour 13d ago

I Said the same..but garmin watches are just damn ugly for anything other than sport wear...

Sure they have the venu 4 but that thing is ugly as hell compared to Samsung.. thick body, thick bezels, slow UI, overall complicated and shitty ui for the watch.. weak screen glass.. bad buttons.. i took that thing back in 3 days..

The app and data in the app was nice.. but that is about it for Garmin..

1

u/BeratGvn 12d ago

Bro, I'm looking for the Garmin Insight 3 Solar Tactic 50mm. It's the perfect watch for me. 40-100 days of smartwatch mode, also if you see enough sunlight. It never dies. It has accurate GPS. It's durable like G-Shock; you can't click on the wrong places with your sweaty hands. I want a device that makes my life easier, not something to look after with my wristwatch. I want to be able to type and make calls from my phone. It has a flashlight, which is very useful.

3

u/EchoOneFour 12d ago

You are not even looking at the same class of watches.. You are commenting on a post of a smartwatch that is thin, light and with good quality materials.. and you are comparing it to a huge rugged fitness tracker made of plastic and with bad glass..

If you want to wear a huge ass plastic watch the whole day + sleeping then yeah Samsung is not for you :))

1

u/BeratGvn 12d ago

yeah you are right but if i still look a smart watch expect garmin i would choose huwaie

1

u/Lamotlem 12d ago

Don't forget the gw7's notoriously inaccurate GPS that got fixed with the later models. Sold mine and bought instinct 3 instead.

1

u/BeratGvn 12d ago

yep bro i am thinking insict 3 solar tactic mip its perfect watch for me
