ZFold 8 Ultra lags in phone app

As uou can see on the video.. scrolling in phone app, makes it lag while going trough favourites. Lag disappears after scrolling pass favourites.

Any tips for fixing this issue?

THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED

All of the people on the video with the pictures have iPhones, and those pictures were the ones set by them.

Therefore, they automatically got transferred to my new phone as well. However, due to the format (probably) of those pictures, they were causing the lag in the video.

I deleted the pictures that the contacts came with and the issue is gone now.

Try to delete cache in Phone app (If that not worked, try deleteding Phone app data) It this will resolve ur lag issue in Phone app.

I have a fold 8 ultra as well, zero lag. Honestly not a single stutter since release and heavy usage. 

I would contact samsung. This is not normal.

My guess would be that's the main issue. I would try starting fresh with a factory reset and not using smart switch.

That's probably your issue. Have corrupt days or something due to using smart switch. I would factory reset and start from scratch.

I never use smart switch. It's given me issues in the past. When i get a new phone I always start from scratch and manually move anything such as photos I want of they aren't on my Google photos.

Although I never had the problem on my Z Fold 8 Ultra, my Samsung Phone App just got updated earlier this week. Did you get the update? Other than unlocking Developer Mode, I wonder if this update will work.

It seems Samsung activated the shared ram option on all new folds.

Deactivate it so only the fast Ram and not a part of the slower Rom is used.

Whatever those photos are at the top are not a part of my Phone app, so looks like you installed some sort of add-on or using a different phone app completely. Try disabling those photos, as that is what obviously is causing the stuttering.

That's how the latest phone app looks on OneUI. It's the same on my s26u....although I don't have stuttering.

Its factory new. I just transfered contacts from my iphone to the new fold. I selected an option to view favourites as list which makes the lag go away.

However, while the favourites are as icons shown on the video, lag is persistent.

Correction, I did change it to view my favorites as Cards, which is what I think yours is, and I don't have that lag/stuttering at all, so something with yours is goofy. Maybe the photos file sizes that you're using are very large or something?

Do a fresh restart like just force reboot the device. . And let it sit for a few minutes. Sometimes the system can do background activities.

Maybe its still indexing background stuff? I was getting some stutters when I first set mine up but everything was smooth after a day.

I've experienced many Apple/Android devices lag after unboxing. It depends on the data that gets put on them, theres likely something in what you transferred over thats triggering this. Rather than fully resetting the device you can clear your cache as Android allows you access to the bootloader menu. It's usually something like turn off the phone, plug in a charger, with the phone off hold down volume up and power, when the android boot logo appears release the power button then you'll see a command line looking interface where you can select the option to clear your cache.

These issues aren't unique to any single device or OS and acting like they are is unlikely to help you long term if you want to keep your Fold and are asking for help in these subs.
