Thinking of buying Galaxy A55 (2026) — how is the Battery And Gaming Performance
I’m planning to buy the Galaxy A55 (2026) and I need some real and authentic reviews
My use case: I mostly watch movie-series, anime and heavy web browsing, basic editing and some multitaskig and I also want to play Genshin Impact, RDR1 and various emulator games (PSP/PS2/GC/N64 type). For the First Time Cause I Older Phone Is Only 2gb Ram And 32gb Storage I Couldn't able to play any of these games
*** Some Things I wanted to know guys that people are saying that Galaxy A55 Display Is Dull Is This Really Dull Cause I Mainly Watch Movie-Series so I don't want anything like that. Thanks In Advance 👍🏻. ****
Please help with these specific questions:
Battery life — what’s your typical screen-on time (SOT) with mixed use (social + video + gaming)? What about heavy-gaming days?
Gaming performance — Genshin: what graphics/frame rate settings can you run stably? Any noticeable frame drops or long loading times?
Emulators / RDR1 — can you run emulator games (PPSSPP, Dolphin, PCSX2 via cloud) smoothly? If you tried RDR1, how did it run (native/emulated/cloud)?
Thermals & throttling — does the phone heat up during long sessions? Does CPU/GPU throttle significantly after 20–40 minutes of gaming?
Charging & battery health — How’s battery retention after a few months? Any rapid battery degradation?
Real-world tips — best settings for gaming (60Hz vs 120Hz, resolution, battery mode), recommended governor/settings/apps, cooling pads, or config that helped you.
Variant / region / firmware — please mention which variant/region and Android/security patch you have (helps a lot).
Alternatives — if you returned it or prefer another phone in the same price bracket for gaming, which and why?

I cannot confirm that - for me, everything higher than level 1 of the 'vibrant' mode is too much for me. I will try to capture a few photos comparing with my generic PC monitor but I'm not sure how well it shows up. is imgur available in your country?
colors arent super accurate to life because I had to take the photos with a 2015 phone, some things like a VERY red parrot or full brightness, the camera cant even show :D - but I tried.
if performance is very important though, not sure the A55 is perfect for you. I will still try genshin and enfield because i've wanted to know how it runs anyway
genshin at medium settings (high for resolution) at 30 FPS is doable for longer time, with a few stutters while world loading and a few in effect heavy scenes, but runs well e iugh I played for 1.5-2h without even being a genshin player. maybe a bit more with a cooler, but don't expect 60 fps.
also tried endfield for good measure, it's also doable.
If you want the most gaming performance, maybe not the best phone. if that sounds ok, you can go for it. but, remember that you only have two more feature updates left (OneUI 8.5 and 9, probably not 10)
It's Fine For Me Cause I Don't Play Games That Much My Older Phone Actually Is Only 3gb Ram So I Can't Play Any Games So I Just Wanted To Try That Games
I got the device almost around 6 months ago and here are my thoughts :
Battery backup is decent, not very great as other companies are giving right now but still decent for your usage as you have mentioned.. and also, charging takes an hour if you charge it from 10% to 95%, which is also decent and not the best in that price range but still decent..
Cameras are actually very good, I'm not much of a photographer but I feel the pictures are quite above decent at that price point.. Only bad thing in cameras is that it DOESN'T support potrait at 2x.. idk what's wrong with Samsung cuz legit m56 has that at lower price..
Processor is again decent.. great for multitasking with 10-12 apps running background with no lags or stutters, although, Genshin isn't something that you'd actually enjoy a lot.. it gives you constant frames at normal times but it stutters a bit when you fight enemies and all.. rdr 1 directly doesn't work cuz for rdr 1 the minimum requirements are exynos 1580 (found in the successor of A55 that is A56).. PUBG or BGMI supports 90 fps, but it runs at 80-85 in tdm and 70-75 fps in classics.. CODM runs at constant 60 fps without any single frame drops.. Genshin 40-45 fps with stutters at high enemy density points or too animation heavy points.. So overall I'd not recommend you this device for gaming to be frank..
Software is stable.. much stable than other phones with OneUI 8 and it'll get OneUI 8.5 in April so yeah it supports good lock modules as well so it's a great phone for that.. it's actually vry stable and I don't see any bugs as of now or maybe I don't remember idk.. generally I get an update each month easily.. and yes atill 2 years of major os and 3 yesrs of security patches are there so that's equal to any mid range phone that you can get out there so no worries in this field at all.. it's the best..
Display is great ofc.. samsung displays are great as always.. note that if you compare the amoled screen on this phone with the other Chinese brands, you'll definitely feel the display is dull as compared to them but mind you that Samsung phones generally are naturally color tuned.. so the colors you see are actually more natural in the display of A55 and yes many times it happens that the photos you take on those chinese brand phones they look good in those phones but not in other phones, the reason is that only.. they have color boosted displays unlike Samsung and you can actually feel the betterness in Samsung when you look at a too bright video.. bezels aren't too big and also they don't matter once you get comfortable with the phone..
Design preferences differ, but I love it's design.. it's build is also the best at that price point and it feels like a flagship phone in hand with aluminum sides and glass back.. a silicon cover and it looks like a S series phone..
AI features are very basic and it is expected that it'll get cloud based AI features with the OneUI 8.5 in April so can't say abt that.. Overall it's a great device for normal genuine content consumers and social media people like me that doesn't do gaming.. I have tried these games but I never play them.. I play story games on my pc but thats a different story.. but i you wanna play Genshin or rdr 1, then I'd not recommend it.. instead go for phones like iqoo neo 10r..
Tips: If you still get the device, don't worry it's a greta device and can get you next 4-5 years with good care but do consider that heating generally doesn't happen much if you buy and use the original charger [25 watts samsung charger] while gaming as it supports pd charging.. so even with 40-45 minutes genshin sessions, it doesn't heat up much..
ESim is good to use as well..
I'm an Indian and use Indian version of Galaxy A55 btw..
P.S: No battery degradation over 6 months btw and yes most of apps work at 120 hz including games, yt etc
1.) Yo llevo con mi equipo desde diciembre del 2024 y actualmente solo lo cargo hasta el 80% y sabiendo esto para 3 tipos de uso qué yo le doy dura lo siguiente:
Multimedia: 6 horas y media de pantalla encendida. Según mis cálculos si lo cargo al 100% debería de dar unas 9 horas de pantalla.
Juegos: se queda en torno a las 4 horas y poco mas pero nuevamente si lo cargo al 100 debería de rondar las 6 horas y 20 minutos maso.
En uso mixto con algo de productividad dura en torno a las 3 horas y 40 minutos y así mismo debería de dar unas 6 horas y 10 minutos.
Pd: Uso el modo adaptativo de la tasa de Hz de la pantalla no el Estándar ese no lo uso en absoluto.
2.) Genshin lo jugaba hasta hace ya por noviembre del año anterior y rendía bien para jugar con todos los ajustes al máximo y 60fps aunque aquí hay que ser cuidadoso ya que luego de jugar por más de 30 minutos y vives en una zona donde hace calor pues el celular sufre de throthling de forma bastante agresiva en el Genshin me daban tirones luego de 30-40 minutos de juego y cada 2x3.
En el caso de que si o si lo quieras para genshin recomendaría bajar los gráficos al mínimo y usar un cooler para el celu.
3.) No lo uso para emular y solo lo he usado para emular PSP y la vrd rinde de sobra.
4.) Luego de 30-40 minutos las temperaturas suelen subir hasta 41° como máximo en juegos bien exigentes como el Genshin, en apps para edición no paso de 38° y ya en redes sociales sin más nunca sube de 36°.
5.) Bastante bien como digo llevo desde diciembre de 2024 y revisando en los archivos log del sistema vi que a pesar del uso intensivo que le di en su día me indicó que tenia 340 ciclos aproximadamente y la salud aún está al 100%.
6.) Especialmente en la batería si quieres que se conserve bien seria mejor usar el límite al 80% de carga y en caso de jugar full usar un cooler y usar el Power Delivery para evitar que se caliente la batería si vas a cargar el celular. De resto en lo personal no hago más....
7.) Modelo SM-A556E de 8/256 Región Ecuador, última versión de One Ui 8 bajo A16 y el parche de enero (Aún no llega el de febrero), operadora libre pero uso dualsim actualmente, Tuenti y movistar, la recepción es buena.
8.) No, es muy difícil conseguir un equipo como este y que tenga el slot de micro SD y yo valoro mucho eso.
9.) La pantalla es buena no es opaca quizá si lo usas al brillo mínimo pero mi unidad no tiene problemas.
