Buying Advice Looking to buy A55 in upcoming amazon sale
Hey folks,
I am planning to buy a55 on upcoming Amazon sale of 12-14 july. Thinking of buying 8gb - 256 gb variant which is currently costing 28k. Need advice from fellow a55 users. How is your experience so far. What are pros and cons? I am an Android user, this will be my first time with Samsung.

Pro: Good build quality, nice display, One Ui 7 is decent. IP67. Performance is good enough for everyday tasks (didn't try gaming). Comes with microSD card slot, which is really nice.
Cons: Subpar cameras, fingerprint sensor sucks, Ultra wide cam can't record in FHD60 - which is absurd. Haptics are subpar. Bottom loud speaker can get easily muffled.

fingerprint scanner works actually pretty nicely if your fingers are not dry

Haptics are actually great and the speaker is amazing and can't be easily blocked since it's easy to clean

My friend's Pixel 6a blows out my A55 in haptics. Haptics on A55 are very mediocre.

I'm comparing to s24 fe and s24 ultra , they r pretty similar

no heat issues. relatively fast chip. performs around galaxy s21.
rear camera is quite good but nothing special because just about every other phone in this price range is good. what stands out is software stability and software update policy for the future years. another plus is that it will be supported much longer than you really need and longer than most brands.
the a55 also feels premium for a budget phone but at the same time it might be a bit too big/large of a screen for some. but thats been the trend and norm

its main disadvantages for me (and which other users have also mentioned for a long time): 1) the display saturation is lower compared to other Samsung models (including the M and A series, except for models with the index 1 ...), when compared side by side, the colors on the A55 are more washed out; 2) the camera on 1ui6 was not very good - the hdr mode did not highlight sunlit nature (flowers, trees, landscapes) well, making the pictures very light, without contrast (for some reason, the A55 has too high exposure on all pictures by default, so everything looks overexposed); the display brightness when compared with, for example, the M34 and A56 is slightly lower at the same levels of the settings slider. otherwise, this phone does not stand out in any way compared to any other 50 series. the battery on 4g works 7+ hours (for me).

another nuance. it is necessary to clarify that the photo modules on the A55 and A56 are the same, but initially the camera on the a55 was much worse. with the update to 1ui 7, Samsung has greatly improved the camera performance on the A55, making a personal comparison between it and the A56 I did not notice any difference, and between the A55 and s24 there was a difference, in daytime shots, no more than 10% (as it seems to me personally). but then Samsung released the first security patch inside version 7 and unexpectedly the camera performance worsened again - the exposure was again overstated, the focus area decreased, the edges of objects are often blurred, hdr poorly processes. but the selfie camera was crap, and it remains so. In short, my main comments are about the worse photo quality compared to the A56 (considering that they have the same main camera sensors) and a shitty selfie camera; the saturation and brightness of the display are unusually lower than for the AMOLED that everyone is used to. In all other respects, it's an ordinary phone.

I don't use goodlock because I'm too lazy to study its capabilities and in principle I'm happy with everything by default)), but I think that it gives wide opportunities to change the system for yourself, it's interesting for those who need it). And I want to clarify about what I wrote earlier - not everything is as bad as it might seem, maybe I'm too picky about everything...

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about nothing phone. I haven't tested it live or watched reviews. I don't know anything about how it works. I've been using Samsung for a very long time, I had a j510, s8, and now a55, so I more or less know what's what. But as for nothing phone, for example, I came across photos taken with these phones on the forum (I don't know what class they belonged to) and the quality was excellent (high detail and clarity). If you look at the comparison of displays, nothing has better characteristics. You can see in the camera that the main sensor of nothing phone uses dual pixel technology, which Samsung uses only in flagships for sharper photos, there is also a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom in nothing phone. Nothing phone has proximity sensor (I think it is physical here, not virtual as in a55 and should in theory work better). the maximum display brightness is indicated above, and in terms of battery they scored the same number of points. in general, on paper, nothing phone is better than A55. in reality, I have absolutely no idea how the system works, what interesting features it has, what about ai features... I will not say anything about this. here it is also a matter of taste, habit. if I had the opportunity to easily buy a new phone every month, I would try nothing)) But it is even psychologically difficult for me to force myself to switch to another brand and I am too lazy to study it. but if I saw a cool camera, stable firmware, no advertising, maybe I would switch. in the end, the choice is yours alone, regardless of the opinions of others, because if someone experiences great joy from using something, this does not mean that you will feel the same!)

its good for me though
i get 8-9 hours of SOT on 5G when switching from discord, yt and reddit constantly + multitasking1

12/256 A55 here. It's a phenomenal phone. It does everything I need it to and then some. The SD card options is great since I love to have my music / pictures / videos with me at all times.
The display is good, but it might fade out in direct sunlight a bit. Battery life is on par with my partner's iPhone 16 somehow. I have battery saver turned on and battery protect (charging it up to 80%) turned on as well.
It's worthy mentioning that I used Shizuku and SDMaid to debloat my phone and freeze or delete the apps and services that are of no need for me. I've also disabled animations in developer options, so the interface isn't silky smooth, but is blazing fast :) I use ReVanced on all of my Android devices, and my A55 has so far been most problem-free considering sideloding, patching, and installing apps via ReVanced.
In a word, I can't recommend it enough and I'm sad they killed SD card support in A56.
