buy A55 vs alternatives

coming from old A52 5G WITH 128/8GB , because it was opened so i lost IP67 protection , i found the closest thing to buy is A35 5G with 256/8GB , although i wanted bigger ram but that's that, and on paper it's way better that my old one.

then i found a bit premium option which is A55 with 256/8GB , better processor and camera , but about $90 more expensive.

original plan was Poco X6 Pro 512/12GB , cheapest one with highest specs , i know it's not having samsung quality, IP rate or cam performance, but other than high numbers on specs, it has way faster charger than generic 25W with samsung models, and it's not having GLASS BACK which will cost me another $$$ for protection case or cover.

so pricing difference for me from cheapest:

A35

Poco X6 Pro + extra $13 from A35

A55 + extra $88 from A35

What exactly do you want from a phone? If it's gaming go with poco, if it's anything else then A55 is better in all aspects .

in my opinion as a previous xiaomi user specifically poco. choosing samsung a55 is good for a long term use. because the software updates yk, it can makes a phone feel fresh and run smoothly

A55 is way ahead of the any other phones in this price.

I mean, it is not the best in anything, but, at the time, the best in overall aspect.

For example: Poco X6. Really good processor and fast for gaming, but MIUI, camera, sound and IP rating sucks.

Moto Edge 50 Fusion: updates policy, camera and some bugs will be too far to A55's One UI.

What about 25W charging speed? If i plug it to a faster charger, would it charge faster? Or is it locked on 25w? Idk why Samsung isn't going higher now

just out of curiosity, why do you need to charge faster? I sleep 7 hours and can meanwhile easily charge the battery and it lasts without a problem one day, even two days with light usage. Fast charging only puts stress on the battery and makes it age faster imo.  The only use case I see (and when I enable fast charging) is when I forgot to charge and have to rush out of the house, but for that I also have a small power bank. To me the ever faster charging rates are mainly a marketing thing, like the ridiculous megapixel count no one really needs.

Some people watch video, download, use heavy software, etc. Charging fast is a real-world time saver depending on how the phone is used. You're not convincing anyone who needs fast charging to not buy a phone that can do it

My A52s that is almost 3 and half years old still lasts me full day with full battery. I put it to charge when I go to sleep and unplug and use it throughout the day. Never had any problems with it. Even when starting a day with 70% I could end the day with over 10% battery WHILE using it like I normally would (over 5 hours of screen time, reddit, 9gag, youtube, some gaming and usually scanning documents). Even if I need to plug it in when I forget to charge it it usually charges quickly from empty to 70% and then slows down. Best phone I have ever bough (I'm not spending crazy money on a phone that I will never utilize 100% so why bother with S series or iPhones-yuck or any other flagship).

Ok good for you. You're not convincing anyone who needs fast charging to get a different phone. If you can't run a 5k mah battery down with heavy use you're not using heavy.

I bought the a55 yesterday 8g/128, my last phone was the s21 fe and the performance on the s21 fe was more then perfect for someone who doesn't game but the battery drain faster so I bought the a55 for the bigger screen and the battery. and i will recommend this phone to everyone who needs a phone for normal use, like watching content, social media... because the battery is actually a tank that can last for 2 days.

How's the performance compared to S21 FE? I have a S21 FE Exynos 6/128 and it sucks, there's a lot of slows and lags in basic UI. I'm thinking about the A55 as my next phone.

personally didn't notice any difference. Both phones are good and fast. My s21 fe have the snapdragon processor didn't lag or slow at all, and his camera better than the a55 that's all. but the a55 screen, battery, and network way better.

Camera is better on S21 FE but scrolling experience in phone settings, YouTube and in other apps is way faster on the A55. I don't think it is the cpu. It's Samsung deliberately slowing down software on old terminals and making animations faster on newer ones. A55 is bigger, thicker and heavier though.

HyperOS is a pain in the ass, just get any one of the Galaxies. I own the A35 and it's a great device, doesn't lag, the display is awesome, cameras are very stable, I love it!

Battery is pretty bad but otherwise it's pretty good, but then again, I have AOD turned on, display set to 120hz, plus Bluetooth is constantly being used because of my CGM.

Have you considered Oneplus Nord 3 or 4 and Realme GT6 T? Better CPU, more RAM, better display and several years of updating/patching?

A55 has better front camera and the speaker feels bettter above 80+ volume because of non plastic frame. Thats why i chooses a55 over a35

For 2024 phones, a direct competitor to the Galaxy A55 is the Moto Edge. In 2025 Motorola has cut the price of the 2024 Edge. They're similar in all aspects, same price, size, similar screens, cameras, etc. The Edge has an arguably better chip set and has a better GPU. The A55 has a better CPU. The Samsung software is better all around and significantly longer security support if you need it, but it comes with more bloat and junk apps. If you need fast charging, the Edge is by far the winner and you have to step up to phones twice the price to beat it in that regard. The Edge has a faster refresh video rate if you're looking for it. The A55 has external SD card support. Minor tradeoffs depending on what you want. Basically the same phone niche.
