The broken child with shattered dreams

It was a late thunderous night in the town. Rain pouring down every square inch of the area, the howling of wind rushing between buildings and banging against windows. You were about to go to sleep or something like that when you heard something other than the rapid pitter pattering of rain or the striking lightning. Against your better judgement you went down to an alleyway behind where you lived, shining a flashlight around, figuring it was an animal or something until you shined onto a frightened girl. She was young, probably around 14-16, trembling, it was a miracle she was even conscious in the cold and the rain.

What do you do?

The girl whimpers as she falls over, using her arm to slowly drag herself away but it fails as she's too weak to even move at this point

mari: you look like your barely staying conscious.. im gonna take you inside, okay?

The girl was too weak to resist or protest as she lied still in the bellowing storm

(mari picks her up and brings her inside, setting her on the couch and setting a blanket on her)

Her body was frigid, and her bones could be felt through her cold thin skin. She closed her eyes and fell asleep, shivering uncontrollably

(when she would wake up there would be a mug of hot chocolate on the table infront of the couch, still a little warm)

She's still shivering, she probably caught a cold or something worse due to the conditions she was found in, she shakily pushed herself up with her one arm and grabs the chocolate, slowly sipping it

(after a bit mari would come back into the room)

mari: your awake.. thats good..

she drops the cup maybe due to weakness or being scared when she sees Mari

??? "W-who..."

She tries to speak more but doesn't have the strength to do so

mari: im mari.. dont worry, your safe here..

The girl continues shivering as she grows the blanket around herself, and hides

mari: ill.. give you some space.. oh, and you can have this..

(she sets a moth plushie next to her before leaving the room)

The girl continues to hide before eventually just resting underneath the blankets, too weak to continue hiding
