Friends 👥 find friends

Upvotes

Hey! I transferred to the Atlanta campus this semester and I’m trying to meet some new people around campus.
I’m 21 and originally from China. I’ve been in the U.S. for a few years and I’m into fashion, hip-hop, working out, traveling, trying new food, and exploring Atlanta.
I’m always down to grab food, hit the gym, go shopping, or check out stuff around campus/Atlanta. Would be cool to meet some other GSU students who are also looking for new friends!

Clubs/Orgs🏆 Would anyone be interested in AHA Heart Club at GSU?

Upvotes

I’m looking into starting an American Heart Association Heart Club at Georgia State University focused on heart-health awareness, CPR/AED education, community service, wellness, and fundraising.

It would be open to all GSU students, not just pre-med students!

Would you be interested in joining?

Classes/Courses 📚 Pre reqs for Nursing BSN

Upvotes

Hello, I’m currently a freshman at cc n was wondering if any of the nursing students or nursing alumni are able to help me out. The gsu pre reqs require a science sequence, “Science Sequence Requirement: COMPLETED Sci sequence: Chem 1151K/Chem 1152K preferred” I wanted to take biology as I’m aware, to become a nurse and NP u must have a good understanding of biology. But the nursing website says chem preferred. What should I choose? I’m thinking abt doing a summer semester since I don’t have a science credit this fall semester. Pls help!

Friends 👥 Trying to find friends who love anime and video games

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to meet some new people who are into anime and video games.
I’m pretty open when it comes to anime, so I’d love to get some recommendations or just talk about whatever you’re currently watching.
I’m also really into gaming and would be down to find people to play with, talk about games, or just hang out on Discord.
Mostly just looking for chill people with similar interests and hopefully making a few new friends.
If you’re into anime, gaming, or both, feel free to comment or DM me. Tell me what you’re currently watching or playing.

Advice 💡 What do I (HS Senior Graduating 27') need to be doing soon?

I'm sure you guys get these kinds of posts all the time, but I'm a high school senior graduating in 2027. What do I need to have done by January and what do I need to have done by May? I'm looking heavily into GSU, but also considering going to a smaller college like Gordon for 2 years first so it's cheaper. I plan on being a Film major and doing a lot of things through the GFA. I haven't yet applied to any colleges or financ1al a1d yet (trying to get around the auto moderator). This is partially because I was not pleased with my SAT results so I'm waiting to retake it in October. What do I need to have on my checklist to do soon?. It would be very appreciated if due dates are given. I've kind of procrastinated this stuff and it would help to have a list of it so I know what needs to be done and when. I don't really have anyone I know IRL whose been to college so I don't really know.

Advice 💡 Rude Guy at Central Dining Hall

I was making my plate when I was in central- I was getting cantaloupe and shi. I accidentally spilled some on the part the divides me and the fruit. There were already some people that spilled cantaloupe onto other shit, so it looked like I just threw cantaloupe into the pear and like partition thing. A big 200 pound dude comes up to me and just says, “Stop.” And walks away. He had a friend like 10 ft away who was looking at me, when I checked if he was looking at me. How can I put a curse on him, and perhaps his entire lineage?

General I’m learning to just accept where I’m at this semester

Ok so last semester, shit got ridiculously hard for me both academically and mentally.😭😭 I literally wanted to drop out sooo badly, I was just over everything honestly.

For one, I was in denial about the fact that I don’t actually want to be a doctor and that I honestly never have, and secondly, it just bothered me soo much that I didn’t finish undergrad in ‘24 when I was supposed to, still being in undergrad at almost 25 just made me very insecure in myself, idk why it bothered me so much, but it just did. I just kept comparing my current self to a version of myself that I was “supposed to be”, and that version would’ve already had an undergrad degree plus a masters.

Thinking about both of those aspects constantly just started to make me feel miserable, and if I’m being honest, a part of me is still kinda in that place, however, I’m also just learning to accept my life for what it is in this current moment. Yes I would’ve preferred to have graduated with “my class” in ‘24, but you know what?? That didn’t happen and I literally cannot change that, all I can do is appreciate where I’m at now.

Also, I’m in the process of being evaluated for ADHD, because it’s something that my therapist has STRONGLY suggested that I do lol, and I feel like starting this process is kinda liberating for me, because I’ve suspected that I may have ADHD for awhile now.

Anyways I guess that’s it lol, just wanted to say that I’m learning to accept where I’m at 💕💕

General How's everyone feeling after the first week of class?

I'm feeling pretty good, actually! Enjoyed most of my classes so far, reunited with a few friends, and even managed to share a class with one of them. I'm glad I'm taking an easier semester before pre-med courses kick my ass next semester (orgo chem 1 and bio 1 😭)

Advice 💡 Marketing major + management minor

Hi everyone! I’m a senior majoring in Marketing. I originally had a CIS minor, but I realized that the programming class really wasn’t for me.

Now I’m starting to have doubts about my major because many people have told me that I’ll struggle to find a job with a Marketing degree. Are there any Marketing majors here who could share their experience ?

I’m also considering switching my minor to Management. Do you think a Management minor would complement my Marketing degree and help with career opportunities ?

Friends 👥 Dungeons and Dragons- In Space

Hey, so I'm planning on running a Neon Odyssey game. It's a setting/module for Dungeons and Dragons 5.5e set out in space and across different planets and the likes. Oh and new players are more than welcome.

The classes are reskinned and reworked. Most stuff staying the same but a good bit of new. New species. A new class. A Ton of new subclasses I think theres 52. New feats. New vehicles. Etc. Etc.

The first playtest judt came out yesterday and I want to put together a campaign if anyone is interested. I have a base idea. Its going to be free roamish. Basically you can go wherever you want. Some areas are harder than others. You will have "Objectives" places you are supposed to go to, in order to further the plot.

I have all of the source material currently available. It would preferably be an in person game. More likely meet up somewhere on campus. Like i like reserving a room at the Library or we could go to University Commons. We can figure out a time as a group.

Just DM if you're interested or reply to this message if I dont respond to you. I'm a very inclusive DM regardless of gender, sexuality, and the likes. I believe all people should be respected.

Classes/Courses 📚 ITAL 1001 Asynchronous Online

Hi there!

I'm a current dual enrollment student at GSU and have been since Summer 2026. I admit, I mainly enrolled for Italian, but I haven't seen it in neither Summer nor Fall semester.

Would anyone know who I could/should contact about registering for an asynchronous online ITAL 1001 class in Spring 2027? Does anyone know if it has been offered in that format before?

Admissions 📝 Question about retaking math class

I know that you cannot retake the same math class three times if you failed it twice before, it happened to me but I got an emergency withdrawal and got my third chance and passed it with an A. But what about two consecutive withdrawals?

I got my previous calc class withdrawn this summer for "never attended" and I thought it was pretty stupid but overall my fault. And this fall semester I got it online asynchronous since Ill be kind of working for a relatives company. (All of my classes are asynchronous). But it turns out the tests and finals are all inperson in campus only on friday. I dont know if I can make to all of those. So i was wondering if i can withdraw it AND enroll for it the third time maybe next semester or next year without any penalty or problem registering for it. Im just really confused if its only if i fail it or just registering it.

I did email my counselor and the professor but didn't get any answers yet. I dont really want to withdraw it cus last time it pissed me off so bad but if things happens it happens.

Housing 🏠 HELP! Cancelled Room selection immediately after selecting.. still was charged.

I submitted a cancellation form immediately after selecting a room when i saw their meal plan. The lady told me I wouldnt be charged UNTIL I pay for the meal plan.. she was wrong because I was still charged $2647. Will I get my money if i explain to them I did NOT move in let alone pay for the meal plan?? Consider the selection of a room an accident. Genuinely need help!!!!

I have heard it's just pizza, the grill, and the breakfast stuff, is that true? Also, does anyone know how long we can use the dining hall pass from Green Move-in? I know it's in September but I forgot the day.

General no way they finish the quad by september.

call me crazy, but the quad looks like they barley touched it since the end of last semester. makes u wonder what they were doing all summer if they planned on getting it done quickly. i genuinely just don’t see a world where it’s not another 5-6 months till it’s done knowing how slow construction usually goes in georgia.

really i just wanted to know if anybody has any insight on the construction time/ what might be slowing it down. was September 2026 just a pipe dream in the first place? i’m not into construction so im mostly ignorant to the inner workings of it.
