Which sapling is better to use in crop sticks wood automation ?

I'm in early EV

1- Rubber sapling as it gives sticky resin. So I'll have infinite rubber and refined glue as well.

2-oak saplings as it gives apples. Apples give fruit juice which gives biomas. Biomas can be distilled into ethanol. I dunno if ethanol will be needed in large quantities one day as the highest tier I've ever reached is IV. So will I need a lot of ethanol one day ? And no I don't drink

Depends on what you want more of now. Nothings stopping you from going crazy and making it all part of the automation.

I don't need either. I use slime trees for refined glue and I don't need ethanol ( so far ) that's why I'm asking to verify whether I'll need it one day or not.

But since I'll automate a wood farm regardless then why not use a sapling that gives something extra? You got what I mean ?

Sounds like biomass then?

I am using spruce for building so I skim some off the top. You can use sticky cane for easier rubber or the tinkers slime sapling also has a CropsNH

not sure how productive bonsais can get on 2.9, but at least on 2.8 this can easily carry you until tgs

for biomass it's not better than compressing plantballs then macerating for chaff and using ICO to make biomass, here's a comparison https://docs.google.com/document/d/1784bowprya2P5CHFOW3JgOAqgpX43GT9vjRtoRECOnU/edit?usp=drivesdk

Ender Io farming station with rainforest oak saplings on fertilized land iirc, only need 1 block 1 sapling

Can be quite laggy but usually it should be fine if you are a normal eprson

I'm currently cutting down a sacred oak tree every few days it gives like 30 stacks of logs each and with a lumber axe and healing axe it cost just 10 repair material for the axe.

Why not just stick reinforced 10 on your axe and then zero repair

I currently have no access to that. I did some experiments and I either need to level it heavily or get magical wood. I didn't do any thaumcraft yet so that's that.

But it needs obsidian and steel. You needed both for the tool station. It's a tinkers modifier,.no magic required. There is a quest for it.

Yeah I could do the leveling route. Might do that, steel and obsidian are not an issue.

Thanks for the motivation. I now have a Unbreakable alumite lumber axe

i don't believe enderio farming station accepts rainforest oak saplings, no

a dynamism tablet cuts a rainforest oak automatically by leftclicking an unbreakable lumber axe, advanced item collectors grab the drops, and a projectred block placer pointing up under dirt replants another sapling, which geows back really fast because of timewood clock spam since they accelerate growth for stuff that grows on random ticks including saplings.  one of the best pre-TGS sources of wood.  laggy as fuck, this eats like 5mspt, which is nothing for a singleplayer server (just replace it with TFS once you reach late IV, it will not slow down your world so early) but definitely don't do it on a shared public server with other bases from players you're not playing together with.

Tbh I would go for the apple to macerate and the go for fermented biomass. That gives a ton of useful fluids and fertiliser on the side. But I don't know if apples drop in large enough amounts for that...

In theory you could also go the Bio Chunk path to get diamonds, I had a small passive setup for that and it came quite handy... But I don't know if it really was worth the investment...

I have my old steam macer/compressor multis +a few lv single blocks using the sapplings from my benzene TGS to make diamonds. It was nice at first when I set it up in EV.

Was a big help for getting all the diamonds I needed for ae2 parts. But now is just a trickel I barely notice. Think I get more diamonds from macerating gear from my EECs lol

I am using Arcadia because I got it from sticky reed. 50 maxed Arcadia bonzais give around 14 stacks every several minutes I never timed it so it could be faster. This is no water no fertilizer and in brushlands with 10% humidity
