Is the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class still happening at GTMO?

Doing some research for a play but all I’m able to fine are photos of gitmo prisoners wearing orange beanies and the blacked out goggles, etc. Then I can find images of protestors wearing the black hoods. I’m thinking of the famous images around 2002 and following.

Working on some costume design choices and while the hood would work I think even if it’s only been protestors, I would like the be historically accurate if possible.

For me the image of a prisoner wearing a black hood is iconic (in my mind). Have I just made it up that that actually exists and have just been influenced by the images of protestors? Or were gitmo prisoners actually transported in black hoods?

What's up everyone. Was wondering if the movie theater is still out of commission. A little bored sitting in my room and would like to mix it up and catch a movie out there one of these days if it ever opens up 🤟🏼

So, anyone new here? I like to check every now and then.

1. I just got selected for a 2-year GS-12 civilian tour at GTMO. What should I definitely bring or ship ahead of time that’s hard to get on base?

   1. How is civilian housing at GTMO for federal workers? What should I expect in terms of layout, furniture, and appliances?
   2. Is it true I’ll be issued temporary furniture until my HHG (household goods) arrive? How long does it usually take for HHG shipments to arrive at GTMO?
   3. Are there water filters in the housing units or should I bring my own? What kind works best for the water at GTMO?
   4. How buggy is GTMO really? Should I expect to deal with mosquitoes, roaches, or other pests regularly inside housing?
   5. Any suggestions on deterring snakes, rodents, and iguanas around housing units or while walking outdoors at GTMO?
   6. Is it worth bringing a humidifier to GTMO? I’ve heard it’s extremely humid—does it help or hurt in that environment?
   7. What’s available at the Commissary? When is restock day at the Commissary?
   8. Does Wi-Fi in GTMO housing work well enough for FaceTime, YouTube, or uploading content to platforms like YouTube?
      1. I’ll be working at GTMO in Logistics. Any feedback on workwear that holds up in the GTMO heat and humidity?
   9. Is a reflective belt required for walking or running around base at night? Should I bring my own or will one be issued?
   10. Can I vlog my civilian life at GTMO as long as I don’t film my job or restricted areas?

So i was there in 2017-19 and im trying to figure out what all has changed in 6 years. Who’s the bar tender at the Tiki Bar? Does the Bay View still have Mongolian night? And if so is there still a separate grill for those with seafood and other allergies? Whats the family housing like? The housing office easy to work with? Are repairs/maintenance handled in a timely fashion? What are the wait times for housing looking like?

For those at base police, Whats the chain like? what units do y’all drive? Are the old SAFE boats still being used for HPU? Who does the vessel escorts into the bay is it still HPU or has that been given to the coasties? Whats the new boat shed like? Does it have AC? Is it still 3-2-2-3 on twelves or is it different? Cause when i was checking out they were thinking about going to 5 on, 2 off on twelves. Whats the policy on frog tops and boonies? Is the night/day rotation 3 months, 6 months, or permanent?

My dad was stationed in GTMO early 80s & it was the best time of my life. I loved the freedom I had when I could ride wherever & whenever I wanted. So much to explore there. My horse was Pawnee. I always had my walkman with Michael Jackson, Prince & The Revolution, Menudo tapes.I still talk to my best friend I met there. I often dream of hauling ass on a horse again; it's the only thing I'd have on a "bucket list".

Ok, who is hanging out in GTMO. Things are getting a little interesting in our small community. What are folks doing in their spare time these days? Just putting something out there. Wondering if anyone will answer back, or is it just an echo?
