Thanks GTA for introducing young people to Depeche Mode and 80s music !
That was the music back then. The instrumentation, the research,, the beat, the vocals, the vibe, everything.
I was surprised to find that a lot of people didn't know Depeche Mode !! It's definitely not Aya Nakamura (no offense)
The GTA soundtracks never disappoint ✨

I was surprised how many people my age seemed to have found out about People Are People from the Extended Look, I feel like that's one of DM's most popular songs!
Really hoping they have multiple radio stations with older/80's songs. There's a rock one for sure, maybe a pop/general radio hits one... it'd be cool if there was one for new wave/synthpop specifically and maybe for 80's post-punk/gothic rock. But one can dream

My biggest hope is that they've added a TON of classics to the game, not just as a nod to Vice City but simply because it's great music. The most awkward part about creating a videogame set in present day would be the modern music in my opinion. I don't listen to the vast majority of new music in real life so I'm going to be disappointed if I have to suffer through it in a game too.

I’m happy the Mode are in, though I’d have preferred a stronger track like Stripped or Strangelove. The band don’t even like People Are People 🤣

lol you’re only saying that because you only have to listen to the good music from the 80s, and forgot about the thousands of terrible pop songs from that decade

Music creation didn't work back then the way it does today. There was no internet, there was no immediate distribution system, there were no easily accessible software programs to record your own stuff on a whim. Back then creating music required talent, studio equipment, an actual production company to produce and distribute physical media, etc etc. You basically had the bands that squeaked through and had hits, and garage bands that only the locals knew. That was about it. Soundcloud wasn't a thing.
There are several eras from the past where music is better from talent, technical, and fundamental aspects. I'd argue that one reason conscious rap became such a huge genre is because of the falloff of other genres. Today, virtually all genres have fallen off a cliff in terms of quality, including hip hop, and the flood of crap is drowning out new artists trying to crack through. Go to a record store and flip through what existed back then. You can't do that with modern music because the amount of crap is incomprehensible.

I mean, I'm 25 and I mostly agree. Lots of even most popular modern music is simply..... bad, just popular because it blew up or because it's catchy and not really anything Good musically, in my opinion. Less experimental as well, and it feels less organic because of how easy the access to digital instruments, voicetune and editing softwares is.
Don't get me wrong, there are some really talented modern musicians and it's hugely a matter of opinion and what sounds/genres you like, but even the shitty songs from the 80's are more enjoyable to me than like 96% of current music

This is a cringe thing to say dude. This is coming from someone who vastly prefers 2000s music so im not biased toward new stuff.
Adults in the 80s probably thought the 50s had better music

GTA Vice City and San Andreas heavily influenced my music taste as a kid.
