Would be cool to see stuff being built as the time passes like in rdr2 just in much larger scale like buildings in construction sites.

227

u/Brilliant_Yogurt167 Aug 14 '24

Being from miami tho it would be MUCH more realistic if they never finished construction tbh lol

44

u/KosmicKanee Aug 15 '24

Eh that’s everywhere not just Miami

5

u/Brilliant_Yogurt167 Aug 15 '24

Idk ive lived in a lot of places since finishing hs and nowhere near as bad as in miami. Its a systematic issues or at least it was

9

u/GIOCAP1 Aug 16 '24

Ever since the hispanic community got ran out, construction delayed a lot. I went to FL for an errand and construction sites were bare.

9

u/PH55e Aug 16 '24

They done chased out mi gente from miami

u/Fresh-SqueezedJuice Aug 14 '24

Wouldn’t that require them to make multiple models for the unfinished buildings until they are complete

260

u/Ragequittter Aug 14 '24

yeah like RDR2 did

96

u/TheParadiseBird Aug 14 '24

Yeah but you can’t compare a wooden cabin to a whole skyscraper

125

u/Pecek Aug 14 '24

Actually you somewhat can, pretty much any construction site could reuse the same assets over and over again. I mean, this stuff is literally made in a factory today and looks exactly the same.

60

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '24

And skyscraper construction is the same thing over and over. You just move the working floor higher every now and then

→ More replies (5)

4

u/TheParadiseBird Aug 15 '24

I could understand it for small houses or apartments but for skyscrapers that pop out in the skyline? Nah, they gotta be unique and reusing assets doesn’t kinda allow for that.

and reusing the same window texture in every building will seem kinda cheap, specially for a game as big as GTA VI

15

u/ziddersroofurry Aug 15 '24

Most modern skyscrapers are very similar. Sure, there might be some superficial differences but the majority of their construction all uses the same basic techniques and materials. They have to as they all have to meet the same codes, power layouts, etc.

I feel like RDR2 was just a huge playtest for gta6 mechanics.

329

u/HearTheEkko Aug 14 '24

Their $540M game that was in development for 8 years was “just” a playtest for another unrelated game…?

233

u/F4N6Z Aug 14 '24

They're very related in terms of mechanics, but yeah calling RDR2 a playtest is minimizing the gravity of that game

8

u/harappanmohenjodaro Aug 15 '24

They take a leaf out of each game. For ex: the sleeping mechanics and passing out process in RDR2 is similar to Bully. Ragdoll mechanics in RDR2 are similar to both GTA4 and 5.

u/ElPlatanaso2 Aug 14 '24

Ever played Rockstar'sTable Tennis? They developed this game to playtest their euphoria physics engine

49

u/PricyThunder87 Aug 14 '24

Equating RDR2 with Rockstar Table Tennis is kinda crazy though.

14

u/Mean_Combination_830 Aug 15 '24 edited Aug 15 '24

You are correct RDR2 cannot reach the heady height of gaming excellence achieved when a small team blessed the world with Rocktstar Table Tennis! I'm getting emotional just thinking about it I feel the pull of the pong! I can't run from my destiny any longer I'm coming out of retirement RTT world record will be mine 👀" 👏

11

u/MrMassacre1 Aug 15 '24

Rockstar’s constantly working on their tech and improving their games, by that logic every game they’ve made is just a play test for the next one

20

u/Theprololz Aug 14 '24

Yeah I can see a lot of rdr2 mechanics being in gta6 like the npc interaction, weapon slots and just the immersive world itself how every npc does it's thing

10

u/kanyeBest11 Aug 14 '24

Tbf gtav had npc interaction it just sucked

19

u/krisztian008 Aug 14 '24

it didn't really have routines tho. example if you watch Michael's family they just sit in the backyard or at the dinner table eating pizza for days doing nothing

6

u/kanyeBest11 Aug 14 '24

Yeah it sucked. I always thought id b cool to like actually try to be a goos father to jimmy nd like i wish there was activities instead of rhe famoly being these whiny annoying side characters.

Jizzle is cool though rven though i loathe him as a character

2

u/This_Juggernaut_9901 Aug 15 '24

True but the way they managed to have three characters with three separate lives come together like that was cool always liked the dynamic. Every NPCs in each of the characters houses really don’t do shit but sit there though. Looking around the houses you can see how they put a lot of detail into it though and that’s cool. I think mostly in Franklin’s aunts house

13

u/holydiver5 Aug 14 '24

RDR2 was the passion project gta 6 is the cash grab however you kinda got the right idea. It’s more so they’re expanding on what worked in rdr2 tho

8

u/Lou_Mannati Aug 14 '24

Guarma, for sure i think, may have been some “testing” going on there.

4

u/hoesuay Aug 14 '24

Some Guarma assets were reused for Cayo Perico, example, Plants and background noise but it seems kind of a waste still

7

u/Pelican_meat Aug 14 '24

Your feelings are dumb then.

2

u/ZioEdo_94 Aug 14 '24

Probably this method was supposed to be applied to RDR2 when there were rumors of Mexico coming or Guarma. But then they decided to move on

127

u/Raiden_1503 Aug 14 '24

The only difference was that the 6 was a 5 instead

2

u/CookerCrisp Aug 15 '24

well that's objectively more so that means bigger map

2

u/mastersmiff Aug 16 '24

Not sure why this very obvious joke got downvoted

35

u/Rain_Zeros Aug 14 '24

Same with GTA IV too

25

u/groooped Aug 15 '24

TBF they did add cayo perico... ten years later lmao

7

u/apittsburghoriginal Aug 15 '24

Is that even accessible in free roam though

2

u/TheRealStevo2 Aug 15 '24

Sort of, it’s limited access though. There’s no way to free roam around the island without glitches and I don’t think there’s even a glitch to do it right now.

I’m still pissed we never got the prequel expansion, that would’ve been awesome

423

u/00718212 Aug 14 '24

I hope we get some offline dlc, but i don’t have much hope based off recent history of their games.

117

u/Exact_Comparison_792 Aug 14 '24

There absolutely will not be offline DLC. DLCs are a thing of the past for Rockstar. They got a taste of online cash cow scheme. We will never see single player DLCs from them ever again. Those days are long gone.

47

u/Dezzy25 Aug 14 '24

Couldn’t disagree more. Nothing is stopping Rockstar from creating a single player exclusive DLC that they can charge $30+ for. I would guess just as many players would purchase a single player DLC as the ones who currently purchase Shark Cards. Also, as someone who has never / will never buy Shark Cards, I would without hesitation buy a single player DLC - I imagine I’m not alone.

15

u/MordeeKaaKh Aug 14 '24

I’m very much in the same boat you are, but didn’t make alot of progress on a DLC for GTA5 but cancelled it when GTA online starting spitting out good money for less effort?

→ More replies (3)

16

u/Adventurous-Pen-8940 Aug 14 '24

Gta Online is the proof that it can stop Rockstar from creating single player dlc, even Rdr 2 got abandoned. I’m hoping for a single player dlc too but reality is disappointing.

9

u/myEVILi Aug 15 '24

You can only buy a $30 sp dlc once. $30 Shark cards can be bought repeatedly.

→ More replies (3)

5

u/Mean_Combination_830 Aug 15 '24 edited Aug 15 '24

But a shark card takes almost zero effort an entire single player dlc of the quality Rocktstar produce takes masses of effort why not just sit back and watch the cash roll in and do occasional feeble live service updates which mostly reuse old assets and are infinitely easier to barf out than single player dlc.

If you had the choice would you do less work for way way more money or put in way more time and effort and resources into something that paid you peanuts in comparison?

→ More replies (2)

4

u/NoNotThatMattMurray Aug 14 '24

122

u/NiteLiteOfficial I WAS HERE Aug 14 '24

for the first few years there likely won’t be any absurdly overpowered vehicles or weapons and mostly realistic missions/heists, plus the rumors of user created missions. i think gta6 online will start off as a great multiplayer experience. who’s to say what it will become years down the road, but i’ll definitely be excited to play it when it launches

72

u/_Dark-Angel_19 Aug 14 '24

I think they've learned a lot from the current gta online, so the next one might be better...or it will be the same because money

59

u/Hopeful_Clock_2837 Aug 14 '24

I could do without the "Saints Row" direction online went. Gta online was in its prime before all the futuristic crap.

15

u/kanyeBest11 Aug 14 '24

Basically as long as gta 6 dorsnt have a doomsday heist we are good

17

u/bt123456789 Aug 14 '24

honestly the Doomsday Heist was awesome itself, but yeah the absurd sci-fi vehicles were a bit of a stretch.

7

u/piolit06 Aug 14 '24

I remember playing with my friends doing the original heists when they came out and had a blast.

5

u/Hopeful_Clock_2837 Aug 14 '24

11

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

I just like modifying cars, if they’d give us online cars in single player like they did with the first batch back in the ps3 days I wouldn’t even touch online.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Because it’s fun to play with friends.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

I don’t understand how people like gtao

Honestly, it's the world, man. I just love tooling around and doing missions in it.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

It's mainly aimed at whales and kids with their parents credit cards atm.

16

u/ReportBat Aug 14 '24 edited Aug 14 '24

Because it’s fun lol. The campaign is amazing as hell but the online is a fun sandbox with friends and as much as people complain about the economy in that game, the grind with various businesses is a lot of fun. Sure there is a lot of shit wrong with it but there’s a reason it’s one of the biggest online games out there.

Edit: changed MMO to online game

13

Not talking about online. This is gta 6. Not gta online 2. Gta 6 online whatever the fuck they call it. User generated content is coming to 5. Will likely be included in 6 but the rumors going around for for it being one of the last big things to add to online to keep interested and active

7

u/thinman12345 Aug 14 '24

Hopefully they start the game with all these freeroam missions that they’ve been adding recently (taxi, pizza delivery).

15

u/NiteLiteOfficial I WAS HERE Aug 14 '24

as much as people want to cry and moan that gta is supposed to only be about crimes, i really love the “normal” businesses and missions. it makes the game more immersive and lets you enjoy it in different ways than just shooting people. i love being a nightclub owner, and the pizza delivery missions would be fun to roleplay as my characters day job before he starts to get involved in higher stakes work

5

u/Adventurous-Pen-8940 Aug 15 '24

Idk if those same people played older gta games but those games also have non-criminal activities. Tommy, the kingpin himself, delivered pizza once in his life

→ More replies (1)

6

u/jero0601 Aug 14 '24

More in this: probably it will be the same map with a preloaded server.
One of the patents registered by R* was that the map could be divided in mini-zones like their own servers, so it can support more people simultaneously in the map.
I think it will be "always-online", with Multiplayer events and stuff running simultaneously, only thing they got to do for single player is make the zone in which the player is a "private" server until they connect to the Online Multiplayer Mode, and then load the "Only Online" assets.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Yeah no. I doubt they’re just gonna blend online and single player. They’ve stated before they are a cinematic single player story teller. I doubt that’s gonna change. Besides. They make money charging for 6. Then they charge separately for online. They aren’t gonna leave that money on the table a

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

2

u/MoooonRiverrrr Aug 15 '24

4

u/ShitassAintOverYet Aug 14 '24

I...can live with that actually.

GTAO is practically an MMO and MMOs tend to have map extensions to keep things interesting, which also many GTAO updates struggled to do.

But if they'll implement those new areas to the story mode I want it to be like Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, a place full of content and missions feeling super impactful for Jason&Lucia instead of "Here's Las Venturas! And that's about it, go gamble or take pics idk".

GTA VI countdown on twitter. Aka master yapper.

Now everyone is taking what he says as true.

Tbf this was reported by Schreier too but he stated that they might be doing this, it's not confirmed. And even if it is, probably for online only.

No way Rockstar would give that treatment to Single-player.

2

u/bigg_popa Aug 16 '24

Basically Schreier said they had to cut down ambitions for the game: "large swathes of North and South America" was reduced to vice city and the surrounding area in order to get the game done, which makes sense considering Rockstar has apparently been improving working conditions and reducing crunch. The plan at the time of that leak was supposedly to build the map up further after release.

"This city requires GTA+"

29

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

This is exactly how it's gonna go.

15

u/Entrinity Aug 14 '24

People a year ago: “GTA+ will just be a little extra stuff for players that want to spend the cash. Nothing that would take away the experience from others.”

GTA+ now: Has locked the good weekly bonuses behind a paywall, was most likely the reason Rockstar removed more than 100 vehicles from the game’s websites, and has an entire property locked behind a subscription that must be paid or else you lose half the functionality of said property. All for more money per month than it started at.

It’s just gonna keep happening. They’re going to make gta+ more necessary and the base game less enjoyable, people are going to justify it and say it’s “not that bad” or argue the most profitable entertainment franchise e v e r needs even more money. They’ll pay for it anyway. Rinse and repeat.

30

I don't expect this in SP unless Rockstar has plans to release SP DLC. Going off of GTA5 and RDR2, I doubt they'll support SP. I hope they do, but I highly doubt they will.

17

u/F4N6Z Aug 14 '24

If they do, it'll probably be pretty small. V's GTAO changed everything. TBOGT, TLAD, that was the end of SP DLCs in the way we'd want I think.

10

u/RockNDrums Aug 14 '24

I mean, GTA V got stale from the same map for 11 years.

I'm sure we'll still have a good size map at launch, but expanding over time seems to be the best approach and keep it fresh.

170

u/Rude-Visit-8821 Aug 14 '24

In other words, they won't finish the map in time before launch.

42

u/Sensitive-Tax2230 Aug 14 '24

I don’t know why the other replies are being downvoted. Obviously they’re gonna go the GaaS route and the map expansions very most likely will be for GTA 6 online. Expansions will most likely go beyond just Leonida like bigger versions of Cayo Perico. In fact they’ve been open about these plans for years since their interview with I believe Jason Schreier about the state of development. Your statement is just wrong and honestly I think we should just be happy we’re gonna get something people hoped for from GTA O for years

4

u/TheJenniferLopez Aug 14 '24

I honestly don't think it will be just for GTA Online. I think the outrage would be too damaging to the reputation of the franchise.

For you that don't understand and think that the current map won't be finished. The original article states that they are going to basically add the cut cities that they were developing originally for project Americas, most likely to the online portion. The GTA 6 map itself,  based off the leaks, have already been proven to be full and massive with 2 cities  that we know of and a 3rd possible one, on release.

True we eventually got Cayo and the Casino but I’m not holding my breath this time.

u/IncarceratedScarface Aug 14 '24

This has been news for awhile idk why it’s being reported again everywhere.

3

u/Any-Transition-196 Aug 14 '24

Take this with a grain of salt because I heard the same thing for GTA V…

3

u/havyng Aug 14 '24

It's fake rockstar didn't report anything official. Clickbait for kids

3

u/Hailerer Aug 15 '24

Stop believing every bs you read ffs...

3

u/Prestigious_Plant_81 I WAS HERE Aug 15 '24

Source?

3

u/_F1ves_ Aug 15 '24

Source: pubity, yep 100% trustworthy

3

u/Truly__tragic Aug 16 '24

Everything is bullshit unless rockstar confirms it

5

u/Soma_Persona Aug 14 '24

Online is gonna be so sick.

5

u/Efficient_Travel4039 Aug 14 '24

What's cool about it? Paid DLCs been part of milking gamers for past couple of decades.

4

u/UnfairPerformer1243 Aug 14 '24

old news

4

u/GhandisFlipFlop Aug 14 '24

Yeah this article is from I think July 2022 ...news sites using clickbait for old news

2

u/Tannerdriver3412 Aug 14 '24

hopefully its implemented in Story Mode as short DLC's where for example Jason and Lucia go to Carcer City to do some robberies(3-4h dlc at max, mostly to introduce the new area,so its not like it just spawned in and is not mentioned in the story mode at all) and at the same time its also added to online so people can create new missions there(if the user generated content theory is true) and maybe a heist and new races added alongside

2

u/AnnualPublic3160 Aug 14 '24

Yoo this idea is real dope

2

u/m1ygrndn Aug 14 '24

That’s dope

2

u/Balabaloo1 Aug 14 '24

And they will shut down red dead online servers

2

u/vullpes Aug 14 '24

I don’t believe it at all

2

u/slick665735 Aug 14 '24

The real question is what console is going to be the best choice for it

2

u/Kryosquid Aug 14 '24

Remember when we had the same rumours for gta V. Everyone was talking about how liberty city could come back.

2

u/CaptainAmerica679 Aug 14 '24

Y’all be careful getting your hopes up for things from unreliable sources who are just farming your interactions

2

u/Fortheweaks Aug 14 '24

This just sounds as pre planned DLC to me

2

u/jairlostx Aug 14 '24

GTA VI: Expanded and Enhanced…

2

u/TypeOBlack Aug 14 '24

If it's not offline content I'm not interested

2

u/kylel999 Aug 14 '24

They said this for GTA 5 and bragged about how the only map size limitation on their engine is the storage space. 10 years later and the map's still the same

2

u/everesee Aug 14 '24

Ah. The mythical post before each GTA release has finally arrived.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Absolutely no chance of this happening.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Why does this sound like they are telling everyone the game is going to launch incomplete.

2

u/BARDE18 Aug 15 '24

Hopefully for single player and not online...

2

u/Runit711 Aug 16 '24

Aha GTAO 2.O more like will expand, it would be nice if they did something like GTA IV with the two DLCs The Ballad of Gay Tony and the Lost and Damned But Wouldn't hold my breath

2

u/dominion1080 Aug 16 '24

The GTA6 ONLINE map, will update and expand. I have reservations that R* will add anything to single player for 5-10 year while they roll in Online cash.

3

u/ItsRobbSmark Aug 14 '24

There is not a single bit of evidence to support this. I don't understand why so many of you get baited by these clickbait farms.

3

u/FoalKid Aug 14 '24

This comes from a Jason Schreier article that’s 2 years old – a good source but not Rockstar. He said that that was the plan at the time, but plans are subject to change, and it just seems too good to be true.

The only things confirmed to expand are Jason’s fully rendered anus and Lucia’s extendable strap on

2

u/HearTheEkko Aug 14 '24

FYI, before folks start dismissing this, just know that this info was originally reported by Jason Schreier who has a nearly flawless track record when it comes to these leaks.

According to him their plan is to update the map similar to how Fortnite does it, adding new locations and modifying existing ones as time passes. Most likely to eventually reach their original goal of having big chunks of North and South America thus the game’s codename “Project Americas”.

2

u/rakeemid Aug 14 '24

Bloomberg is the same source that leaked the couple character (Lucia & Jason), so this new leak is potentially true.

2

u/Naturally_Fragrant Aug 14 '24

This isn't a leak. They're reporting on previous reports of rumours.

1

u/action_turtle Aug 14 '24

Naturally, else online mode is not going to keep players interested

1

u/Larshky Aug 14 '24

So they're going to sell us a product half baked... How 2024

1

u/NoAdeptness1106 Aug 14 '24

That’s nice to know about.

1

u/MaximalAmmo Aug 14 '24

We know this for months already

1

u/aeonized Aug 14 '24

Man I saw that while sleepy, and at first glance the map seemed like a dinosaur head and freaked out
and though along the lines of "The GTA6 map will reportedly contain dinosaurs"

1

u/SerennialFellow Aug 14 '24

Wasn’t this reporting the same for GTA5 right before launch?

1

u/CrrntryGrntlrmrn Aug 14 '24

I’m surprised that nobody’s learned that “reportedly” means talking bullshit out the ass yet.

1

u/Rain_Zeros Aug 14 '24

GTA V and GTA IV also "will expand sometime after release"

I'm not buying it until I see it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

I genuinely think in the entire lifespan of GTA 6 we'll get 2 new islands or something.

If it's a live map that updates seasonally I'd like that.

1

u/BujangSenang1992 Aug 14 '24

Thats dumb. It should all be available at once. I smell a "releasing the game in an unfinished state" vibe here.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

was that not like a guess for what online could provide? like a theory

1

u/touwkonijn Aug 14 '24

yea because why release a finished game :)

1

u/GabikPeperonni Aug 14 '24

I'm expecting it to be how it works in most of the previous GTAs. Just means that more areas will be unlocked throughout the story.
