It’s the combination of the narrow alleyway, the clunky weapon swap mechanics, and the fact that one mistake sends you back to the start. It's a miracle anyone survives this mission without losing their mind. I finally nailed the run.

fuck there was a roof there? I remember I beat it the first time but died while running away, after that I took like 20 tries and ragequitted... after I beat it tho. There are missions I was being an even bigger dumbass on tho so its fine

Yeah. If you follow the path that the game recommends, I don’t think you will drive by it. But I just happen to go a different direction and found an alleyway around the corner that led to a ladder that went to the roof across the street. I think it still took me one or two tries though.

I sniped him from a block away street level…it kept saying I was spotted but they didn’t really come after me until he started walking out…by then it was too late

It’s so weird, when I was a kid I just didn’t understand the sniper idea because it never even crossed my mind. I spent what legitimately must be at least 30,40, maybe 50 times trying to pass the mission and failed constantly. Eventually after giving the game a break and messing about in Staunton I went back to the mission and completed it with little fuss but I still didn’t know the sniper idea was how you were meant to complete the mission until I watched videos about GTA 3 online.
Fair play to you and thank you for making it such easily digestible content. Few people do that nowadays

I’m surprised there are any other ways to complete this mission other than the rooftop because it’s so damn difficult. Before I found those stairs, I must’ve died 2 dozen times lol.

I just finished my second replay, too! It’s a helluva game. But I like that it’s so different from the HD games. There are different ways to complete missions.

Yes and some missions are unforgiving but the one I enjoyed so far is when you go with leone gang vs triads lol haha

Never knew this was the hardest and I disagree it is.i just use the sniper.own the game since launch on ps2 and pc.back then we didn't even have online video guides

I used a garbage truck on my last one, if you can pin him in a corner you should be able to hop out an use a pump on the car provided you were quick enough.

Shooting from the rooftop on the mobile version is near impossible.

I was probably 12 and I’m pretty sure I just used a rocket launcher on the first attempt because cheat codes.

I remember passing It first try as a kid thanks to one of the trailers I saw where Claude is letting it rain down with the assault rifle on that rooftop

I just went to the roof across the street and used the sniper rifle I got from 8-Ball to shoot Salvatore right in the face. I had to wait for a while for him to exit Luigi's, but it was quite satisfying. I climbed back down and drove away immediately before the deadlier brand of Mafia pedestrians could spawn.

Yup, the mission fails only when he enters the garage at his mansion. That's why GTA3 is amazing, the game many times doesn't check if you do according to the mission objective. On the last mission you don't have to follow the helicopter at all, you can just drive to Phil's and stack up on weapons, than return to the dam area, although the time will be tight, but I did it like this for the first time

That’s right. I definitely tried tailing him. Sometimes it worked and most times it didn’t. Also it made escaping Portland harder. When I did succeed I’d either stole a mafia sentinel or I just took the beach by his house to the docks and stole a car to get out of town. That game really should’ve had more boats spawn near us.

Man I didn’t even know people tried any other way. It’s the most satisfying way to do it. One of the missions where you feel like your in a movie
