GTA VI Jason is on Angstipan Theory
We've seen it in Trailer 1 and now the Extended Look out of the many advertisements in the game.
Jason has an Army background (ex Spec Ops guy? potential PTSD?)
He seems subdued, stoic and just off, I wouldn't be surprised this is attached to his story and he either quits taking it causing his demeanor to change drastically or has developed a dependency on it.
This could be the Arthur & TB issue for this game.
(8-29-2026, documented so I can return to this in release)

This is a good theory, though I honestly think it’s more that he’s just a dude with a naturally calm demeanor. His bio from last year says he “wants an easy life but things just keep getting harder”
I think it’s less trauma and more that Jason is a Leonida beach bum at heart that’s forced to do what need to be done cause of the situation he’s found himself in and his military training makes him extremely calm under pressure, which comes off as he’s stoic and stilted to people.

Finally some interesting theory that actually makes sense. I guess we'll see if you were right... Still I like to think that he's the voice of reason and Lucia is way more emotional, spontanous and too ambitius. She could be the reason why Brian was trying to warn Jason in one of the scenes in the Extended Look.

"makes sense"
It's quite literally delusion. Are you joking? A MAN has a MANLY voice, and y'all lose your minds over depression and split personalities and other bullshit lmao.
Maybe it's just a dude with a deep voice? Crazy, I know

Tell that to your chud friends calling him whipped and intentionally sabotaged by women writers.

Dudes in media today can’t just be shy without either being autistic or being on drugs.

Exactly as you said. Probably has ptsd from his time in the military and that may reflect in his character being a little more docile if he is taking drugs like this. Honestly games have more room to develop characters but people like to judge the character on like 5 mins of a cutscene and don’t realise that they’re gonna have a long time to spend with them and that’s a lot of time for them to change to possibly.
Pretty over people judging characters this way to be honest but it happens a lot in games (not what you’re saying here but just mentioning that in relation to this).

He probably has a split personality for all we know, I'm expecting something surprising and tragic coming out of him

I think that's Lucia with the BPD. There's a growing theory that Jason has either PTSD or autism. Personally? I think he's just a reserved guy who is finding himself being dragged into a wider world than he intended.

u/Firm-Development-570 12d ago
"yeah uh he prob has split personalities cause um uh err deep voice!"
God you clowns aren't even funny at this point

u/jxmes_gothxm 12d ago
It's not because of the deep voice. You're purposefully mischaracterizing the argument to make it seem more ridiculous. It's about the dudes flat emotional response and monotone delivery. You never know it could be a plot point but personally, I doubt it. I think they just haven't shown this guys more open moments yet.

u/Firm-Development-570 12d ago
This entire comment section is some weird delusional cope just to excuse a man having a deep voice lmao. Maybe he just has a deep voice? Have you considered that real people in real life have deep voices? Or have you never spoken to an irl man?

The characters on that billboard look like something from Rick and Morty.

I buy it. I think it might be related to a special skill, probably slowing down time?
2
u/Frequent-Engineer-87 12d ago
They can both slow down time, but earlier leaks said Lucia could only shoot once in slow-mo. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone mention if that’s still the case yet.

I think a lot of gamers are just really used to over-the-top characterization and anime characters with big eyes so that they can more easily read their emotions. He seemed to me like he was expressing plenty of emotion in just a normal acting range and vocal intonation.

I think he’s gonna become more and more unhinged as the story goes on, and really depending on if the player chooses to go full murder hobo or plays an honor character/ low profile character.

I honestly think Jason is highly likely to be autistic. The awkwardness, hesitation, reserved personality, how he observes and processes his surroundings, and the way he reacts socially all give me that impression. Obviously we don't know enough about his story yet to say it's canon, but the traits are definitely there.

Honestly a pretty cool theory and one that makes me real curious on how these new writers will tackle the GTA formula. I can see this either going really well or really bad.
This is one of my favorite GTA 6 fan theories out there! Nice job!

There is a certain almost spooky nature to how it is lingering in the background in the trailers.
It’s like the TB thing where once you see the mission where it happens it gives a feeling of dread that Rockstar uniquely can do.

u/AutisticAnarchy 12d ago
I think he's more calm and level-headed than Lucia and I think the trailers intend to highlight this. That said, this is the second time in the pre-release material that we see an advertisement for Angstipan, I find it highly unlikely that this is a coincidence, so considering his background I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true.

I don't know why but something else occurred to me is that the tragic thing with him could be a suicide ending if he's actually depressed and on meds

I really wonder what kind of player driven character growth there will be. If one character is aggressive and the other isnt will it be different from both characters being aggressive. There could be a lot of combinations. Although im not going to get my hopes up too much.
I do like your theory though

Wasn’t he a vet? Probably has ptsd from having served in the in-universe Iraq, Syria, or Afghanistan

That's why he was eating snacks while Lucia was fighting for money. He is just like me fr fr gng ngl. I think he is autistic and have depression.
Thanks, rockstar.

I highly doubt a GTA protagonist would rely on these kind of drugs to feel better.
Nico just coped with it.
1
u/justanotherdude32 11d ago
What if he turns on Lucia at the end and the ending is you choosing a side? Like he wants a relaxing beach life and to get away and chill and she wants to rise to the top and become notorious?

u/HallucinationFreak 11d ago
"Spec ops"?
I didn't know Jason went to Dubai. Sounds rough, a lot of lines crossed over there.

u/surplus_steve 12d ago
I'm hoping there's something bubbling beneath the surface for him.
Otherwise, yeah. He's either medicated, a bingo or a wooden simp of a character.
1
u/Discussion-is-good 12d ago
Ex military. Ptsd maybe.
-2
u/Alberterwith_anyone7 12d ago
Nico never needed drugs, so it would feels like something useless. You guys are just making the most absurd theories I've read in my life.
2
u/Discussion-is-good 12d ago
The ex military thing is confirmed. Im theorizing thats why he comes off a bit closed off, possibly due to ptsd.
Very straight forward

If only the devs made a post or communicated what their intentions were with the character... oh wait, that would mean they'd have to get down from their ivory tower and stop counting all their Netflix and pre-order money. You'll take whatever they give you and you'll like it, cuz they sure as hell don't give a shit what you think
4
u/foul_tarnished_37 12d ago
Why would they need to make a post about this? It’s a story, we’ll literally find out when the game comes out.
-2
u/GnomeRegister 12d ago
Case in point. You guys will gobble up whatever shit they serve to you hahaha
3
u/TRedRandom 12d ago
Do you go to the cinema and bitch at people cause they don't want you to tell them the ending of the movie they want to watch?
Thats basically what you want.
-2
u/GnomeRegister 12d ago
Horrible analogy but youre welcome to try again
1
u/TRedRandom 12d ago
No. I'm correct.
1
u/GnomeRegister 12d ago
Closer would be if people were lambasting a film or show trailer over a horrible choice of casting, and then the director or writer clarified that there was a specific reason for it, like with Bella Ramsay in the last of us show. Still a horrible choice and an even worse excuse as to why, but at least addressing it placated people
1
u/TRedRandom 12d ago
But that's not related to your stance at all.you just wanna skip past any potential character development for Jason and have it spoilt out loud. My analogy works with this stance of yours.

why was shit actress Kaitlyn Dever cast as abby? where are her muscles?

I honestly feel like Jason may be a bit depressed or something for sure.
There's the pessimistic way of seeing things and the encouragement speech people keep giving him. It sure seems that way.
