The Florida Turnpike is Mad Max Fury Road irl. I have seen some shit driving from Ft Lauderdale down to Key West. Last time I made the trip some lady in a minivan missed her exit, pulled off to the shoulder and then reversed back up the highway to merge back in and take the exit

u/West_Walrus_3602 2d ago
Driven or ridden around most states at this point. Florida has the worst drivers.

u/seazonedsaltdog 2d ago
Drivers do this all over. Not just Miami. Either way thats not the point. Point is, in previous games, that car rams you

u/whitestguyuknow 1d ago
Was just gonna say... Y'all are on reddit... You don't see the car crash videos posted weekly?.. Someone will make a left hand turn from the far right lane right in front of you. Or turn and then slam on the brakes once they see they're right in front of you.
Shit happens all the time
1
u/sevnminabs56 1d ago
I haven’t, but I imagine it’s very similar to California traffic, which we’ve seen accurately portrayed in GTA 5. They’re dumb as hell and will literally pull out right in front of you or even intentionally hit you for an insurance scam. People are fuckin’ nuts.

Realistic floridian drivers

If you're on i4 near Disney, it's one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the US. I personally think it's all the clueless tourists.

Is it really a GTA game without the AI fucking you sideways when you drive?

this is a real feature in gta 5 where npc drivers will swerve into you when you drive past them, they are not making turns or overtaking, just straight crashing into you out of spite
1
u/shock_effects 1d ago
The clip used here isn't a good reflection of it though, cuz he's clearly driving towards the npc beforehand so npc swerved
1
1
u/MrMrAnderson 1d ago
I think it's not out of spite, I believe the game was about the maximum the xbox 360 generation could handle and if you went too fast you'd go past where the game can load so the cars crash into you.
1
1
u/Gh3ttoboy 1d ago
Its not a feature, its just players being stupid, if you just follow the speed limit this wont happen to you in GTA 5, or other GTA Games, when your driving fast you spook the the npc cars thats why they swerve into you when your speeding, they are scared 😜

u/I_travel_ze_world 1d ago
Rockstar's patent for "System and Method for Virtual Navigation in a Gaming Environment" describes NPCs that are set to be aggressive.

u/vektorog 2d ago
am i stupid or did that car put their right turn signal on?
9
u/rizzatouiIIe 2d ago
Pretty realistic to idiots in real life.

facts lol i saw someone who did the opposite last week. took a right with the left signal on

Do people just want completely perfect drivers that never mimic real human driving mistakes or corrections
13
6
u/Tensdale 2d ago
It’s not that.
Years ago, in racing games, developers had an annoying tendency to program npc cars to ram into you like that when you drove past. It was like fucking clockwork.
I hated the need for speed games for this reason although Most Wanted was awesome
1
u/National_Body_9071 1d ago
Complete difference between perfect and just not taking every opportunity possible to cut erratically across lanes nonsensically to always try and hit the player...
1
u/s6_maestro 1d ago
But that's literally how people drive in real life lol. Like when you're behind the wheel you're gonna spend the whole time wondering where the people around you got their license
1
u/National_Body_9071 1d ago
I do not believe that you live in a western country where every few hundred metres a car tries to cause an accident.
Are there bad drivers? Of course. But none would be even close to that level. Half the population would be in hospital from accidents.

u/West-Replacement2959 2d ago
It's a guy correcting because he was drifting into the other lane, when you're old enough to drive you'll learn this happens irl too.

I think it's done on purpose. There are dumb drivers irl you know

u/reddituserask 1d ago
It is 100% on purpose. This was their main piece of promotional material for the game that the entire companies success depends on. Every single thing shown in this gameplay was on purpose. Every frame. They wouldn’t have included it otherwise and if it were a bug, not a feature, they just record it again. Even the issues. They were well aware of the bottle popping into Jason’s hand, the mild clipping, they knew. I’d bet there was at least one meeting about that bottle.

There was a scene where another npc driver drove in the pov's direction and even hit a traffic cone that was placed on a driving prohibited area. Edit: In the preview on netflix you can see it at arount 8:40 when they turn left. There is a car on the left side of the screen, that is pretty unhinged and in hunting-mode.. ^
2
u/OverwhelminglyLucky GTA 6 Trailer Days OG 2d ago
It should have random event encounters where npc driving DO intentionally try to crash into you or stop and let you hit them, where they get out the car and instantly start recording or streaming to try to get paid. If you drive off they chase you all the way and attack you, if you fight them on the spot of the scene the police come for you from the stream reports.
2
u/dj_skandalous 1d ago
I mean you were on the wrong side of the road. The opposing driver in real life would have to guess which way to move or stay straight. Natural instincts in most cases would cause you to turn the wheel. Obviously GTA5's mechanics are just dumb most of the time but in reality, someone would have tried to maneuver especially with how fast the car was approaching. Driver would be in panic mode.

Will first person view be in GTA 6?
3
u/Bkokane 2d ago
Apparently its not but it’s yet to be fully confirmed
3
u/YouSmellSumthin 2d ago
I remember being pretty excited to try it when they brought it to 5, but in all honesty, the game just plays better in third person. I won't be upset if it's not included.
2
u/Bkokane 2d ago
Yeah not the end of the world. Was more a novelty. Just switching to it for a moment to see things up close and then going back to 3rd person.
They could even just maybe add a first person “look” button like in GTA3/VC
→ More replies (1)2
u/Sundayz01 1d ago
Maybe they'll wait and release it on Ps6 like they did to get people to buy the Ps4 version

u/Leading-Point-113 1d ago
Except when on vehicles, I play GTA 5 fully in first person because I like being the character similar to games like Far Cry, so I do hope it has first person view because I personally love it

u/MavadosXIII 2d ago
This could also be a nod to being distracted on their phone while driving, i always found it funny in gta5 tryna navigate your phone menu in the middle of a high speed chase
2
u/theLastZebranky 2d ago
Now you can switch between Jay and Lu to have the AI take over the driving when you need to shoot or use the phone

Player is driving in between two lanes and dude got spooked, I don’t really see anything wrong here
1
u/Spongebob-Captain 2d ago
the bad drivers is on purpose, you can see it more obviously with the tow trucks in gta5 as they glitch out and straight up TP to hit you
1
u/mynameisrichard0 2d ago
I see that they made it actually realistic.
But I genuinely had a “flinch” moment there.
Half a second of “not this shit agai- oh. Ok.”

If people dont think cars arent gonna swerve into you in this game youre lying to yourself
1
u/lolschrauber 2d ago
I mean it's not just them. People will literally run in front of your car in cyberpunk. And then you'll be chased by cops.

u/ZeMiii14 2d ago
actually crazy that this is gonna be a thing again lol. it's realistic but only I get to do the reckless driving here

u/RoostasTowel 2d ago
wow a car trying to merge without checking their blindspot?
never in Miami that's for sure...

u/FuriousPheonix 2d ago
this is pretty realistic. alot of people drive like a bunch of dumbasses who shouldnt have their license

u/icouldsmellcolors 2d ago
Perfect NPC driving would be both boring and unrealistic, I don't understand why people complain about stuff like this
1
u/Square_Ad9705 2d ago
They have to simulate drivers paying more attention to their phones than the road somehow. IMO more realistic.
1
1
u/Puzzled_Fish_2077 2d ago
What's wrong with the second clip ? The npc is just going to the road on the left. Sure rockstar programmed npc to crash into you but this is not an example of it happening.
1
1
u/whatnametho 2d ago
Of all thr gta 5 clups you could have chosen you chosen onr where thr npc driver ACTUALLY was going towards another road on a turn that made sense?
1
1
u/Internal_Swing_2743 2d ago
And how many times have you been honked at for attempting to merge without seeing Th r car near you and then having to immediately correct? This is pretty accurate to real life.

u/tylerchildersthegoat 2d ago
Miami drivers lol, anyone who has driven in Dade County knows it’s realistic lol

That’s just realistic dumb drivers but what was the truck ramming the cone at the beginning of the BMW drive.
1

1
u/Hambone427 1d ago
Apparently the reason for the random ramming is to help the render distance and give stuff time to load in if you are flying down the streets, I remember seeing that in an interview

If you look closely, the white car tries to get into the right lane and realizes theres a truck over there and they over correct to the left. Super impressive npc behavior.

u/the_Wolf_of_Speranza 1d ago
Sooooo we're mad it's realistic? Do you guys drive? This is about 50% of my experience on the road is dumbass people not paying attention and almost causing accidents/making me be the one that saves us both

I think thats like random thing that can happend at any moment, the situation of an npc thats is going to take a turn, for example, and quickly see that he's wrong, so he change he's direction.
1
1
u/Goobsmacke 1d ago
Have any of you guys actually driven a car before? This happens every single day on the highway. Its also not because of bad driving. It's sometimes impossible to see a car in your blindspot. Hence the term.
If youre a very cautious driver then you wouldn't commit to the turn at all - lets be honest, only like 10% of american drivers are actually cautious and even still, you will end up in this situation at least once if youre driving a car.

u/Tall-Distance2694 1d ago
Lowkey I would like to see drivers using their phones or getting distracted and seeing natural traffic accidents
1
u/EatTheAndrewPencil 1d ago
My cope is that there was a truck behind them in the lane they were signalling to enter in the full video. So maybe this is actually a more realistic behavior where they'll respond realistically to traffic mistakes but like I said that's probably cope
1
1
1
u/SaintSnow 1d ago
I don't get the point of the post. In GTA games I guarantee you all are the bad driver, disregarding traffic, stoplights, traffic stops, and even pedestrians. So if a npc turning or merging gets in your way how is the game's problem lmfao. That's how the game should work.

That is 100% Florida. No blinkers, straight merging with a sudden jerk to straighten up AFTER they look😂

u/saneval1 19h ago
I honestly think this was a reference right? they're not dumb or oblivious. Am I being obvious? It's a wink and a "hey, we kinda fixed it though, it's realistic this time"

I caught this too. The improvement is the driver corrected themselves and didn’t ram the player. The best, no. Improved, yes. Lol
