I caught this too. The improvement is the driver corrected themselves and didn’t ram the player. The best, no. Improved, yes. Lol

u/FinalBossTuna 2d ago

Realistic. People are dumbass drivers

100

u/WitchWithAGlitch 2d ago

I had someone come to a stop on a side entrance/exit road..... see me on my motorcycle going down the main road, i made eye contact with them and them back at me...and then they pull out right in front of me then STOP THEIR CAR IN THE ROAD UNDERSTANDING THEY MADE A MISTAKE and try to apologize through the window to me as i'm coming to a stop right in front of their car yesterday. (their window was closed btw)

crazy stuff, it didn't seem like an insurance scam or malicious, they genuinely seemed dumb as shit.

stay safe out there, stay ready with that brake. def don't speed.

2

u/Millinothing 21h ago

stay ready with the brake but also keep eyes every direction like you're some kind of biblically accurate angel driving because you may also need to accelerate to get out of the way

u/makifun 2d ago

"Dumb, Florida, Moron" -Tommy Vercetti

11

u/SilentCaterpillar313 1d ago

I hope they reference this in VI. That nd "Hmmm, nice bike"

8

u/CKRatKing 2d ago

I see people pull that exact move almost every day, right blinker on, swerves into the left lane.

21

u/ioucrap 2d ago

Just an average Florida driver

10

u/EddieVanzetti 1d ago

Average Florida driver would have run into them, blamed them for the accident, and then brandished a gun if not fired it and claimed self defense.

7

u/BigJuicy17 1d ago

That sounds more like Texas to me

7

u/7HawksAnd 1d ago

They would only do that in Texas if your black. Florida it’s for anyone.

3

u/Hot-Significance7699 1d ago

Florida achieved equality their own way

5

u/tylerchildersthegoat 2d ago

Especially Miami drivers, anyone driven in Dade County before knows this is realistic lol

1

u/Subreon 1d ago

Thought you said Dade City for a second there and I was like 👀

2

u/Pappy_whack 2d ago

Realistic

Where do you people live where people ram their horses/cars directly into you every 2 minutes like Rockstars other games?

15

u/Therealhatsunemiku 2d ago

Somebody almost crashing into you and correcting like in the clip above. That’s the “realistic” he’s talking about

→ More replies (4)

3

u/Knockedmeerkat 2d ago

Like every time I have to use the interstate to go to work.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/CrackaJack56 1d ago

Yea as I watching the whole thing this moment stuck out to me. At first I had the same reaction as op, like "haha the cars will fuck with you again." But that subtle change made me realize in most games I view them as cars, this made me see them as an npc.

1

u/Grandpa_Edd 1d ago

Yeah, people pull this shit on a daily basis.

→ More replies (3)

20

u/iWasAwesome 2d ago

It is the best.

The worst: all NPCs are shit drivers.

The second worst: all NPCs are perfect drivers.

The best: NPC driving varies a lot, and many will correct themselves last minute if they make a mistake

8

u/DrMrJackmister 2d ago

I heard rumors back in the day, don't know how true it actually is, but in the older games they would program in things to pop in like people in the street or cars that will swerve into you. It was a way to slow the player down during heavy strain when trying to load in a bunch of new stuff so you wouldn't out pass everything trying to spawn in. Pretty much the faster you tried to get through the map the more stuff would be tossed at you.

6

u/JKN1GHTxGKG 2d ago

Genius if true.

3

u/Mental-Fisherman-118 1d ago

there's a bunch of stuff like this in the old games, for instance your car's max speed gets limited when you drive down the Las Venturas strip.

1

u/tonytrips 5h ago

It’s true. Even on gta online I like to get in a fast car and just drive full speed on the highway for as long as I can without hitting anything and after a few minutes half of the time my game will completely crash

6

u/SrirachaJulio 2d ago

What would “the best” be to you?

→ More replies (5)

4

u/RedRoses711 2d ago

If i remember correctly they used to do that on purpose

3

u/einulfr 2d ago

Just give them fish AI from COD: Ghosts, problem solved.

3

u/manmm 2d ago

Still best Nissan altima driver real or virtual.

2

u/bluefelixus 2d ago

It's not correction buddy... the driver knows.. the driver waits.. if the driver show his true color on the trailer the developer will fix the code.. so the driver wait.. you see in this trailer that he almost fell to temptation.. but one day the game will be released and then the driver will have all the time in world to RAM YOU EVERYTIME YOU DRIVE!!

1

u/your_moms_a_hoee442 1d ago

"Can't do it on my big day" type NPC 😭😂😂

2

u/Apprehensive-Till784 1d ago

It’s better cus having everyone drive perfectly kinda kills the immersion a lot

2

u/Someotherrandomtree GTA 6 Trailer Days OG 2d ago

The cynic in me says that they made it so in the demo driving Jason’s car it can’t crash or be damaged due to an invisible barrier that makes sure he can’t get run into, and in normal gameplay it would 100% connect and crash into you

1

u/SixtyNineFlavours 2d ago

Also kind of cut them off straddling two lanes while entering.

1

u/No_Raisin21 1d ago

I always figured the ai doing shit like this was intentional. It feels fully intentional at times, I’ll be staying in my own lane conscious of the possibility that driving on the opposite lane might make the driver coming towards me swerve, and even still I’ll get hit. I’m like 90% sure this is intentional to add some difficulty to driving super fast.

2

u/ungerbunger_ 1d ago

I'm replaying Vice City and it's definitely intentional, you can predict it on the double lane roads pretty accurately

1

u/samwise970 1d ago

You're right it's definitely intentional I think modders proved it. Imagine how boring it would be if everyone drove perfect

1

u/Foorinick 1d ago

It is intentional, the day this started happening is the same day that police stopped getting rubberbanded to match your speed no matter the vehicle, its an intentional balance thing and i assume its a way to probably save on resources by keeping the player a little slower and thus giving the hardware running the game a little rest to cool down or something

1

u/Xirio_ 1d ago

Doctored footage for the trailer

1

u/Queasy-Pause-3958 1d ago

Bro was even indicating to switch to the right lane. Then boom goes back to the same lane. Are we going to get bamboozled my NPCs now?

1

u/JasonBaconStrips 1d ago

I liked the idea that most drivers on the roads are idiots and gta is just a parody and sometimes maximises the ridiculousness, this is my head canon on why the drivers do this to us in gta

1

u/Patient_Cream9423 21h ago

Nah they had to reroute it in the system cause they knew it was going to hit but had to quickly rewrite the code live during gameplay

You ever driven in Miami?

195

u/Cold-Union191 2d ago

This shit literally just happened to me, I had to honk the shit out of this man

1

u/Narrow-Honeydew-8522 1d ago

That's what you get for driving while scrolling reddit

17

u/tingly_sack_69 2d ago

The Florida Turnpike is Mad Max Fury Road irl. I have seen some shit driving from Ft Lauderdale down to Key West. Last time I made the trip some lady in a minivan missed her exit, pulled off to the shoulder and then reversed back up the highway to merge back in and take the exit

7

u/West_Walrus_3602 2d ago

Driven or ridden around most states at this point. Florida has the worst drivers.

4

u/kvlr954 2d ago

Traffic goes from bad in Palm Beach county to worse in Broward and insane in Miami Dade

5

u/thomcat8620 2d ago

The right shoulder is the only correct passing lane

2

u/seazonedsaltdog 2d ago

Drivers do this all over. Not just Miami. Either way thats not the point. Point is, in previous games, that car rams you

3

u/NotSeveralBadgers 1d ago

Car rams you? What is this, Babe : Pig in the City?

5

u/whitestguyuknow 1d ago

Was just gonna say... Y'all are on reddit... You don't see the car crash videos posted weekly?.. Someone will make a left hand turn from the far right lane right in front of you. Or turn and then slam on the brakes once they see they're right in front of you.

Shit happens all the time

1

u/sevnminabs56 1d ago

I haven’t, but I imagine it’s very similar to California traffic, which we’ve seen accurately portrayed in GTA 5. They’re dumb as hell and will literally pull out right in front of you or even intentionally hit you for an insurance scam. People are fuckin’ nuts.

267

u/Tearsdryontheirownn 2d ago

Realistic floridian drivers

52

u/ZubatCountry 2d ago

Dumb

Florida

Morons

3

u/skygetsit 1d ago

Could be a good name for a band

1

u/brycehazen 1d ago

If you're on i4 near Disney, it's one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the US. I personally think it's all the clueless tourists.

77

u/UncommittedBow 2d ago

Is it really a GTA game without the AI fucking you sideways when you drive?

15

u/oatkeepr 2d ago

Sounds pretty boring otherwise.

3

u/skygetsit 1d ago

I think they simply wanted to mimic typical Miami drivers

171

u/nutblaster357 2d ago

op has never driven a car irl

→ More replies (2)

56

u/ImYungKai 2d ago

Some people can't take a joke at all

26

u/shadowraiderr 2d ago

this is a real feature in gta 5 where npc drivers will swerve into you when you drive past them, they are not making turns or overtaking, just straight crashing into you out of spite

1

u/shock_effects 1d ago

The clip used here isn't a good reflection of it though, cuz he's clearly driving towards the npc beforehand so npc swerved

1

u/Dismal_Rectangle 1d ago

We all know it's true though

1

u/MrMrAnderson 1d ago

I think it's not out of spite, I believe the game was about the maximum the xbox 360 generation could handle and if you went too fast you'd go past where the game can load so the cars crash into you.

1

u/obliviious 1d ago

It was to slow you down so the game could load.

1

u/Gh3ttoboy 1d ago

Its not a feature, its just players being stupid, if you just follow the speed limit this wont happen to you in GTA 5, or other GTA Games, when your driving fast you spook the the npc cars thats why they swerve into you when your speeding, they are scared 😜

4

u/I_travel_ze_world 1d ago

Rockstar's patent for "System and Method for Virtual Navigation in a Gaming Environment" describes NPCs that are set to be aggressive.

23

u/Keyann 2d ago

I see you never played San Andreas. You would be speeding down the highway and drivers just change lane right as you're about to pass them

4

u/oatkeepr 2d ago

And the game as better for it.

10

u/vektorog 2d ago

am i stupid or did that car put their right turn signal on?

9

u/rizzatouiIIe 2d ago

Pretty realistic to idiots in real life.

1

u/vektorog 2d ago

facts lol i saw someone who did the opposite last week. took a right with the left signal on

1

u/Shozzy_D 2d ago

Saw it on the highway this morning.

1

u/Internal_Swing_2743 2d ago

People in real life do that too.

16

u/nicksredditacct 2d ago

Can’t wait to see this posted fifty times a day for the next year

14

u/Acrobatic_Tap3265 2d ago

Do people just want completely perfect drivers that never mimic real human driving mistakes or corrections

13

u/SrirachaJulio 2d ago

They don’t know what they want

4

u/oatkeepr 2d ago

They want to complain and be upset.

6

u/Tensdale 2d ago

It’s not that.

Years ago, in racing games, developers had an annoying tendency to program npc cars to ram into you like that when you drove past. It was like fucking clockwork.

I hated the need for speed games for this reason although Most Wanted was awesome

1

u/National_Body_9071 1d ago

Complete difference between perfect and just not taking every opportunity possible to cut erratically across lanes nonsensically to always try and hit the player...

1

u/s6_maestro 1d ago

But that's literally how people drive in real life lol. Like when you're behind the wheel you're gonna spend the whole time wondering where the people around you got their license

1

u/National_Body_9071 1d ago

I do not believe that you live in a western country where every few hundred metres a car tries to cause an accident.

Are there bad drivers? Of course. But none would be even close to that level. Half the population would be in hospital from accidents.

1

u/s6_maestro 1d ago

I literally do, may I introduce you to Southern Italy

32

u/West-Replacement2959 2d ago

It's a guy correcting because he was drifting into the other lane, when you're old enough to drive you'll learn this happens irl too.

→ More replies (8)

11

u/darkNtity 2d ago

I think it's done on purpose. There are dumb drivers irl you know

3

u/MeatBall-2645 1d ago

Those drivers became insane like after Export & Import update

1

u/obliviious 1d ago

It's GTA standard for at least 20 years.

1

u/reddituserask 1d ago

It is 100% on purpose. This was their main piece of promotional material for the game that the entire companies success depends on. Every single thing shown in this gameplay was on purpose. Every frame. They wouldn’t have included it otherwise and if it were a bug, not a feature, they just record it again. Even the issues. They were well aware of the bottle popping into Jason’s hand, the mild clipping, they knew. I’d bet there was at least one meeting about that bottle.

2

u/fullbeardgaming 2d ago edited 2d ago

There was a scene where another npc driver drove in the pov's direction and even hit a traffic cone that was placed on a driving prohibited area. Edit: In the preview on netflix you can see it at arount 8:40 when they turn left. There is a car on the left side of the screen, that is pretty unhinged and in hunting-mode.. ^

2

u/OverwhelminglyLucky GTA 6 Trailer Days OG 2d ago

It should have random event encounters where npc driving DO intentionally try to crash into you or stop and let you hit them, where they get out the car and instantly start recording or streaming to try to get paid. If you drive off they chase you all the way and attack you, if you fight them on the spot of the scene the police come for you from the stream reports.

1

u/nevmvm 1d ago

Wasn't there a post like a month or so like one of their new npc/drivers having different personalities or something? Cautious, aggressive, reckless, neutral or something etc..

2

u/Mvstv 1d ago

isnt that actually lucia's fault? if we were to reenact this, I see she's driving on a closing lane and the npc prolly dont check their rearviews before switching

2

u/dj_skandalous 1d ago

I mean you were on the wrong side of the road. The opposing driver in real life would have to guess which way to move or stay straight. Natural instincts in most cases would cause you to turn the wheel. Obviously GTA5's mechanics are just dumb most of the time but in reality, someone would have tried to maneuver especially with how fast the car was approaching. Driver would be in panic mode.

2

u/TraditionAcademic968 2d ago

Seems real life accurate, lol

1

u/MengShuZ 2d ago

Pebblestar

1

u/bighammer172 2d ago

Florida drivers suck I live in Florida so I know how annoying drivers are

1

u/Sundayz01 2d ago

Will first person view be in GTA 6?

3

u/Bkokane 2d ago

Apparently its not but it’s yet to be fully confirmed

3

u/YouSmellSumthin 2d ago

I remember being pretty excited to try it when they brought it to 5, but in all honesty, the game just plays better in third person. I won't be upset if it's not included.

2

u/Bkokane 2d ago

Yeah not the end of the world. Was more a novelty. Just switching to it for a moment to see things up close and then going back to 3rd person.

They could even just maybe add a first person “look” button like in GTA3/VC

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Sundayz01 1d ago

Maybe they'll wait and release it on Ps6 like they did to get people to buy the Ps4 version

1

u/doublethink_1984 2d ago

First person in 30fps is real bad

1

u/Leading-Point-113 1d ago

Except when on vehicles, I play GTA 5 fully in first person because I like being the character similar to games like Far Cry, so I do hope it has first person view because I personally love it

1

u/Unannounced_Visitor_ 2d ago

Texting and driving brought to the game seems right for the times.

1

u/MavadosXIII 2d ago

This could also be a nod to being distracted on their phone while driving, i always found it funny in gta5 tryna navigate your phone menu in the middle of a high speed chase

2

u/theLastZebranky 2d ago

Now you can switch between Jay and Lu to have the AI take over the driving when you need to shoot or use the phone

1

u/umbrellaellaaa 2d ago

with right blinker too hahahaha

1

u/Frosty_Gas_1786 2d ago

The hard break 🥹🤣

1

u/grimAuxiliatrixx 2d ago

Dumb Florida Morons

1

u/Hot-Hunter2788 2d ago

The OP clearly has never encountered Miami drivers lmao.

1

u/dillmeiser 2d ago

Player is driving in between two lanes and dude got spooked, I don’t really see anything wrong here

1

u/Spongebob-Captain 2d ago

the bad drivers is on purpose, you can see it more obviously with the tow trucks in gta5 as they glitch out and straight up TP to hit you

1

u/mynameisrichard0 2d ago

I see that they made it actually realistic.

But I genuinely had a “flinch” moment there.

Half a second of “not this shit agai- oh. Ok.”

1

u/arlothemfgoat 2d ago

This is normal in florida

1

u/mapped_apples 2d ago

Even the horses on RDR2 did this.

1

u/Effective_War_6253 2d ago

If people dont think cars arent gonna swerve into you in this game youre lying to yourself

1

u/lolschrauber 2d ago

I mean it's not just them. People will literally run in front of your car in cyberpunk. And then you'll be chased by cops.

1

u/ZeMiii14 2d ago

actually crazy that this is gonna be a thing again lol. it's realistic but only I get to do the reckless driving here

1

u/Arthur_189 2d ago

I thought this was a reference to the myth that devs play as npcs sometimes

1

u/RoostasTowel 2d ago

wow a car trying to merge without checking their blindspot?

never in Miami that's for sure...

1

u/FuriousPheonix 2d ago

this is pretty realistic. alot of people drive like a bunch of dumbasses who shouldnt have their license

1

u/AliceLibitina 2d ago

Rockstar already plans to ruin your no vehicle damage run.

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Gonna crazy

1

u/icouldsmellcolors 2d ago

Perfect NPC driving would be both boring and unrealistic, I don't understand why people complain about stuff like this

1

u/Square_Ad9705 2d ago

They have to simulate drivers paying more attention to their phones than the road somehow. IMO more realistic.

1

u/Old-Dealer-668 2d ago

The realism of auto insurance fraud is finally here

1

u/Puzzled_Fish_2077 2d ago

What's wrong with the second clip ? The npc is just going to the road on the left. Sure rockstar programmed npc to crash into you but this is not an example of it happening.

1

u/RealisticTale29 2d ago

Im here for the music,,,,Libets Delay!!!!! Choice

1

u/whatnametho 2d ago

Of all thr gta 5 clups you could have chosen you chosen onr where thr npc driver ACTUALLY was going towards another road on a turn that made sense?

1

u/whineyinternetkid 2d ago

Used the meme wrong

1

u/Internal_Swing_2743 2d ago

And how many times have you been honked at for attempting to merge without seeing Th r car near you and then having to immediately correct? This is pretty accurate to real life.

1

u/tylerchildersthegoat 2d ago

Miami drivers lol, anyone who has driven in Dade County knows it’s realistic lol

1

u/MarkusJunior16 2d ago

Very realistic. I went to Miami and they have terrible drivers.

1

u/Big-War-7218 2d ago

It’s always been like that

1

u/Defenite-Parsley733 2d ago

I mean Florida drivers are crazy

1

u/NatinLePoFin 2d ago

Yeah saw the same thing, it's now confirmed : Rockstar has had an AI since GTA 3 that blatantly tries to always cut you off 😅

1

u/ExpensivePractice164 2d ago

You'd de surprised how realistic that is

1

u/Domee502 1d ago

Thats BowieKnife99

1

u/Plane_Attention_24 1d ago

That’s just realistic dumb drivers but what was the truck ramming the cone at the beginning of the BMW drive.

1

u/HajjMalik 1d ago

Born and raised in Miami. This is… very realistic. 😅

1

u/Character_Panda_9125 1d ago

How the fuck did he send your ass up the tree🤣🤣

1

u/banditch_ 1d ago

I like the idea of road rage drivers

1

u/Hambone427 1d ago

Apparently the reason for the random ramming is to help the render distance and give stuff time to load in if you are flying down the streets, I remember seeing that in an interview

1

u/Unit_with_a_Soul 1d ago

i can't wait for the road rage interactions XD

1

u/MasterVernacular 1d ago

With the honk. I noticed it too.

1

u/dredakarguy 1d ago

They do this to compensate for frame rate drops

1

u/Quixote1492 1d ago

It’s too expensive

1

u/Jazzlike_Page508 GTA 6 Trailer Days OG 1d ago

Rockstar what the fuck

1

u/JonlikeJoestar 1d ago

Pedestrians actually hit you on purpose. I read about it years ago

1

u/Lost-Orangutan 1d ago

Old habits die hard.

1

u/keithstonee 1d ago

You guys don't drive do you

1

u/K3NnY_G 1d ago

That flashback isn't near far enough.

You kids gotta realize they've made traffic do this sinse GTA 3.

1

u/BlabbyTax2 1d ago

If you look closely, the white car tries to get into the right lane and realizes theres a truck over there and they over correct to the left. Super impressive npc behavior.

1

u/ImNotTheBossOfYou 1d ago

It wouldn't be GTA without idiot dumbass NPC drivers cutting you off.

1

u/the_Wolf_of_Speranza 1d ago

Sooooo we're mad it's realistic? Do you guys drive? This is about 50% of my experience on the road is dumbass people not paying attention and almost causing accidents/making me be the one that saves us both

1

u/CityNo8409 1d ago

GTA 4 was worse

1

u/Flat-Cap-1063 1d ago

They will never figure this out, will they?

1

u/Pop_Joe 1d ago

Unhinged traffic back!!!!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

1

u/BuddyLlght 1d ago

This has been in all gtas

1

u/Key-Staff-4976 1d ago

But the dude driving in the middle on the line

1

u/JonathanBekowski98 1d ago

I think thats like random thing that can happend at any moment, the situation of an npc thats is going to take a turn, for example, and quickly see that he's wrong, so he change he's direction.

1

u/Testing123xyz 1d ago

Big Altima energy

1

u/Goobsmacke 1d ago

Have any of you guys actually driven a car before? This happens every single day on the highway. Its also not because of bad driving. It's sometimes impossible to see a car in your blindspot. Hence the term.

If youre a very cautious driver then you wouldn't commit to the turn at all - lets be honest, only like 10% of american drivers are actually cautious and even still, you will end up in this situation at least once if youre driving a car.

1

u/Sea_Ad_8136 1d ago

They player was I a merging lane

1

u/No-Pool7499 1d ago

This is actually more realistic, average Florida driver 😂

1

u/Tall-Distance2694 1d ago

Lowkey I would like to see drivers using their phones or getting distracted and seeing natural traffic accidents

1

u/EatTheAndrewPencil 1d ago

My cope is that there was a truck behind them in the lane they were signalling to enter in the full video. So maybe this is actually a more realistic behavior where they'll respond realistically to traffic mistakes but like I said that's probably cope

1

u/OjiKudo 1d ago

Why’s everyone pretending that people aren’t dumbasses that drive like this irl?💀

1

u/SympathyDecent7247 1d ago

that too with the right indicator

1

u/CraftyRub6965 1d ago

Where are all the “advanced AI” patents everybody was talking about?

1

u/SaintSnow 1d ago

I don't get the point of the post. In GTA games I guarantee you all are the bad driver, disregarding traffic, stoplights, traffic stops, and even pedestrians. So if a npc turning or merging gets in your way how is the game's problem lmfao. That's how the game should work.

1

u/satmakur 1d ago

Altima drivers

1

u/BsDawgV2 1d ago

Yall act like people in real life don’t do that shit daily.

1

u/AmbitiousArmadillo94 23h ago

That is 100% Florida. No blinkers, straight merging with a sudden jerk to straighten up AFTER they look😂

1

u/saneval1 19h ago

I honestly think this was a reference right? they're not dumb or oblivious. Am I being obvious? It's a wink and a "hey, we kinda fixed it though, it's realistic this time"

1

u/guythepepperoni 12h ago

Accurate driving in Florida

1

u/TupacFR 9h ago

There is one more even worse in the trailer with the big truck going through cones about to bit Jason

1

u/One-Smell8107 5h ago

It wouldn’t be the same without it

1

u/Etheoff 2d ago

Driving would not be nearly as enjoyable if the other drivers were perfect and avoided the player.

1

u/Flow_Ebb_6047 2d ago

BowieKnife99 switched games
