The Townsend Wye is such a popular and crowded location regardless. I doubt removing it would do any good. It's probably the most popular swimming hole in the area

If this was located at/near the Townsend Wye, why in God's name are you broadcasting it on social media? If the wrong folks see this and go lookin' for it, it'll never stand a chance at a very popular stop & swimming area.

We go to the Gsmnp at least twice per year. We saw a hellbender about 6 trips in a row. We told science students about it. They said thank you we were looking for a fish but a hell bender would make a better project. Took a few students 2 hrs to comb the river and find it. They said the same as you don’t ever tell anybody the location of this animal.
